Lupa Masa rainforest camp is a natural hideaway set amongst some of the oldest rainforest on Earth. 3 hours from Sabah state capital Kota Kinabalu it is a short walk from the Poring Hot Springs which is 30 mins off the main Kota Kinabalu - Sandakan highway.Made from local bamboo with power supplied by its own on site hydro-electric generator Lupa Masa is one of the greenest, in all senses, places to visit and stay in Borneo. It is surrounded on two sides by the national park and the third boundary is a crystal clear river and waterfall. Accomodation is in traditional style 'sulaps' in tents on foam mattress. Lupa Masa is a haven for birds, mammals and thousands of weird and wonderful insects including stunning butterflies and fire flies. Seasonally on-site there are blooms of the largest flower in the world - the Rafflesia. The camp offers rainforest trekking, bird watching, village visits or simply the opportunity to relax surrounded by nature.

Wow! We have just got back from a 3D2N adventure. Be warned this is a basic jungle camp, but that’s the beauty of it. We spent our time listening to the sounds of the jungle, playing badminton, going on a night walk, reading, swimming in the river and learning survival skills. The camp is in a lovely location, there is a lot of space and you are surrounded by jungle. We opted for the ‘open-air’ sleeping experience. This was amazing, we had a small hut looking over the river, and mosquito nets covering our beds. We are vegetarians so the food was ideal for us as there is no meat in the camp. I recently spent a night at this camp and it's a great place to stay especially with the close proximity to a beautiful river. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Also the night walk and the jungle survival training were both excellent. I booked directly and corresponding with William was very straightforward. The only room for improvement is the food which lacks protein.

Lupa Masa Rainforest Camp in Sabah is a great place to escape city life and experience the rainforest. Be prepared for basic accommodation but it is also a great place to chill and relax while seeing what the rainforest holds!

An absolute must if you're visiting Sabah. The cold crystal clear water is refreshing and there is plenty of wildlife to keep your eyes busy. Driving there from Kota Kinabalu is also fun as you have to drive past the national park.

If you're looking to escape, get away from it all this is the perfect getaway. A chance to stay in tune with nature. Whist not 5 star accommodation it was awesome falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest and waking up as the jungle came alive! Who needs wifi! Thanks guys!!!
