We stayed in a full service site There are 2 sides to the campground. We stayed on south side. Sites are a bit close to each other, but we were still comfortable. It was lovely to stay close to the river. The north side had an older playground, the kids enjoyed it. The problem is the highway and rail line...

We enjoyed just sitting in our lounge chairs watching the birdlife and the light reflecting off the river. The restrooms were clean. The staff disinterested - couldn't get their WIFI to connect and after talking to them twice with no luck - decided that was ok we would just enjoy the view. An easy walk to the Lava Hot Springs....

We had a great experience here. We stayed two nights and appreciated the friendly staff helping us check in. The campsites are wonderfully clean as are the restroom and shower facilities. The train passed by several times a night but the river helps drown out the noise of the railroad and the highway. We would come back again!

We have a VW van so we usually take a tent site - but here in Lava Springs evidently there is such a thing as a "delux" or some such tent site @ this KOA - even though it was slowing down and there were plenty of sites -the one we chose was considered "delux" and we were told wed...

Great place to camp with many different types of campsites to choose from including some cabins. Not a large campground by any means but they had a healthy number of sites to choose from partly because they're close together. Probably not a good campground for any big rigs. We pulled into our site with our 30ft 5th wheel with a...

Great place, beautiful spot and easy walk to the famous Lava Hot Springs. Check out the museum there also. Its a quiet little town with a lot of personality. Good food in the restaurants with very friendly employees.

Small. Not big rig friendly. We have a 35 ft Class C, towing a car. Barely made it around the loop. Sites very slopped. Front tires more than a foot off the ground to get level. Needed a place to spend the night on the way south. Off our path by 15 miles but sounded better than the other options....

16 of us went there this weekend with a reservation made in early July. While we were trying to get our situation resolved -- they had rented our two big RV and three tent spaces to other people -- we heard two other parties with the same problem: They had reservations for specific units, but those spaces were rented to...

Very happy you and your party chose to stay at Portneuf Bend Campground.

I brought my girlfriend to the newly furnished Koa cabins behind the tai restaurant. They are filled with all the amenities and very spacious for two adults. It would be okay to bring one or two small children. The beds faced each other and there were no privacy for sleeping arrangements if it's more than two people so that is...

Thank you for choosing Lava Hot Springs KOA. If we have the opportunity to build more cabins in the future we would definately put one of the beds in a separate room. We hope to see you again.

Campground was located right off major highway and railway. Trains ran all hours of the night and the road noise was no better. Campground was over crowded with RV spots placed too close together. Staff repeatedly drove by on golf carts monitoring your use of the camping spot - no privacy. We were made to feel as though the KOA...

Lava Hot Springs, Idaho is a small unique town established over 100 years ago. Close to the historic Oregon Trail it became a well known place to stop due to the sulphur free mud baths. The railway system is a major part of history and became widely used as a means of transportation for trappers, miners, and tourists from afar....
