We had a wonderful stay at Thala Beach Nature reserve. The staff was friendly and informative. The reservation process was easy and they answered all of our questions in a very timely manner. The moment we arrived we felt welcome and included. We sat at the bar for a welcome drink and an amazing view while they got our bags...

As a local I've often come to the superb restaurant often, but decided on a 3 night stay to recharge my batteries. Great staff, Claire was so helpful, and a great place to wander around with your camera. I'll stay again no doubt.

A hotel in the bush, surrounded by birds, nesting ospreys and the occasional wallaby. The rooms are comfortable, excellent breakfasts and a varied menu for dinner. The rooms are individual lodges with effective air conditioning and serviced alternate days. It is on a hill and some rooms have a walk to the main building. You need to be reasonable fit...

We do have a 24hr electric buggy service around the entire property for guests who prefer to walk around our hilly property & we do hope you were able to take advantage of this...

Almost 'colonial' style wooden lodges, set in steeply sloped forest rising above picture post card beach. Hills are hard work though buggies available. Usual concern Nov to May because jellyfish meant no swimming possible. Food was okay but not as good as its elaborate descriptions, and picnic hampers significantly overpriced and could do with more bread! Ambience great, splendid pool...

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a week in late October 2016. We bought a special offer that included snorkelling on the barrier reef and a rain forest experience. Breakfast was included and an upgrade to a Coral Sea Bungalow. The resort is well located close to a lovely unspoilt beach. The food was excellent (although a...

We stayed ay Thala for our short, but wonderful, Honeymoon. There were very few surprises, but that's only because of my somewhat obsessive perfectionist approach to travel - I had basically already research every aspect of the resort so it was going to be tough to live up to my stratospherically high expectations - Thala was up to the challenge and...

Thala Beach Nature Resort is one of the most amazing places we have enjoyed. For example, compared to Rotua Private Island resort off Vanuatu or the Pacific Resort in the Cook Islands or Wolgan Valley resort in the Blue Mountains. The cabin style accommodation is elegant yet fits in with the bush surrounds. They are very private being scattered amongst...

The hotel was excellent, with great cottages well-appointed, and awesome ocean views. The service was good and so was the food. A word of caution - this hotel is built on a steep hill and it is a strenuous walk from your cottage to the lobby/restaurant/bar. Golf carts are available to shuttle you up the significant hill.

Panoramic views are enjoyed from open-sided Osprey's Restaurant across the forest canopy and beyond to the Coral Sea. Guests and visitors dine amongst birds in the surrounding treetops, whilst enjoying modern Australian cuisine with friendly and attentive service. Granite boulders, waterfalls and overhanging trees create natural swimming pools blending discretely within the environment. Paths wind through rainforests and woodlands, connecting with secluded coves and beaches, passing through habitats for endemic birds, wildlife and flora. Guests enjoy complimentary guided nature tours by onsite rangers including tree planting, stargazing at an outdoor observatory, beach discovery, wildlife walks and bird-watching tours.
