Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
It ain't no Four Seasons but comes with the basics of a (relatively) clean & spacious room-and-bathroom, window view (overlooking street/carpark or river), aircond, ceiling fan, tv (slight snow), dressing table/stool/mirror, complimentary mineral water (num of bottles based on room occupancy), towels (actually white & not grey), cupboard, hangers, mattresses with decent spring support and foam pillows, all with still white linen, thin blankets, and most importantly, no smoking policy. Most pricey is the executive VIP room (sleeps 4) for RM125 nett. Else there's deluxe queen/twin under RM100 per room. Upon check-in, we were given keys with "patent pending" keyholder (strict instructions not to detach key from holder) and an aircond remote (strict instructions not to fiddle with any button except for on/off/temperature). To find this place, coming from Sekinchan (traffic light where Harbor View hotel is on right), stay on main road until Shell station (about 15mins drive). Take a left at traffic lights, go down road (I think that's Jalan Mentari). You should pass Chong Thai Restaurant on left (great place for Chinese food, affordable too). T-junction at end of road, make a right and hotel's on left (access via side/service road). It's a colourful shoplot. Since hotel name's tad small, look for Kang Soo Enterprise printed in great big letters above. Free parking aplenty out front. Lobby's on 1st floor, rooms on 2nd floor. As hotel doesn't have elevator/lift or concierge service, be ready to haul luggage & self up a couple flights of stairs. On 2nd floor, I recall seeing a drinking water machine/fountain. For dining options, there's a mamak/Indian-muslim shop on left of hotel (abt 3-4mins walk) else SKH Restaurant (Chinese) across the road, facing this mamak place. There's also this interestingly-named cafe on same floor as lobby, about 10m away, called Santan & Keju - directly translated into Coconut Cream & Cheese. We stuck to the more conventional mamak & Chinese. If one does end up at SKH for mid-day or midnight, try the squid/calamari on sizzling plate (sauce does wonders) and mantis prawn in butter. The noodles are also good. Our order of 5 dishes (2noodles + 1prawn + 1 sizzling squid + 1 garlic veggie doubled up as there were 13 of us) plus drinks (incl fresh coconut) came up to RM10 per person. Ocean Hotel probably offers best accom in Sungai Besar (by the way, street address & postcode is correct but it's not in Pulau Perhentian Besar). So, ideal for those looking for a 2d1n seafood getaway.

Probably the best alternative when homestays and hotels in Sekinchan are full during weekends and public holidays. It is situated near the fishing village of Sungai Besar, some 25km further down Sekinchan. But the location is equally good as it is within walking distance to the old Sungai Besar town consists of several rows of shophouses divided by a small canal. The old town is worth visiting in the morning for Bak Kut Teh (herbal pork ribs soup) and Hainanese coffee (not the best) and nasi lemak (coconut rice with sambal chilly). For evening, there are several seafood restaurants behind the hotels, offering fresh and cheap seafood, after all, this is the place where majority of the catch of the day would be sending to Singapore.
The hotel is basic and fairly clean - if the cleaners are doing their duties - which should be the case, as there are probably less than 20 rooms. The free Wi-fi should work as well for majority of the rooms (best to check with the counter staff)

The furniture such as bed, wardrobe and table is old. The WI-FI is only provided at the hotel lobby and some of the room might not connect to the WI-FI due to it's too far to connect lobby WI-FI. There are some restaurant under the hotel and it's operate until late night.

The Hotel is just okay to stay for 1 night, You might to bring you own Towel to use. No lift to go up to room its all via stairs . Not suitable for old people or with small children. The place for Water Dispencer is to low so you might to bend down a bit to take water.Bed is not comfy at all. No other choice of Hotel during public holiday . This hotel is really old school even the Reception are still using the Book for check-in.
