Arrived on on a cold rainy day and was welcomed by not one but two coal fires giving the pub a lovely cosy welcome. The food, we both had the home made pies, were delicious and reasonably priced. The room was small but clean and newly decorated, bed comfy and warm. Breakfast was excellent The new Managers, Viki and Steve,... More

Bare in mind we later found out that it was the first day with new management. The bartender greeted us with a slightly scared and confused look when we arrived with our bags so we urged that we'd like to check in. "Has he told you what room you're in?" "no we booked online" "right." She pretended to know the... More

Hi Rosie, Thank you for your review. You quite rightly identified that it was our first day at the Blacksmith's Arms. Fawlty Towers is one of my favourite programmes, but I do think the title of your comment is perhaps a little over the top. The pub had been closed for 5 days in order to re-brand and re-name. We... This is a very quiet pub with rooms. Our room was very pretty, but modern with a comfy bed. The room was small but had what you needed. (although had to search out the kettle - it was in a drawer) Our rooms window opened onto the fire escape which is also the after hours entrance, this wasnt great as... More

We stayed at the pub to attend a nearby wedding. The pub itself was in a good location, was easy to find and had a car park. Check in was quick but fairly impersonal although the young boy did try and help us book a taxi we needed to get to the wedding. We soon learned that taxis are very... More

We visited this pub today (28/8/16) for a Sunday roast. The barman who took our order was pleasant enough, and we sat at our table. When the meals arrived, he asked if we'd like any sauces, and he obviously saw there was hardly any gravy on the plates offered to bring more. I had beef that was ok, but my... More

Had an evening meal on 22/08/16, we ordered tuna & a chicken pasta & it took 40 mins for the food to arrive & the bread was not garlic as ordered, was disappointed as recently have had good meals there but since change of manager things appear to have gone down hill again. Local resident.

Tried here for Sunday lunch this month and was not impressed. My wife's veg was cold, the potatoes tasted musty and the beef was flavorless. The lady in front of us had cold veg as well. We may have come on just a bad day which in fairness could be true. We will not be returning to find out though.... More
