This campground is just average. Nothing good or bad just average. RV's are packed tight and the place was full. Loose gravel narrow roads. No real amenities, horrid WiFi. Camp store pretty bare, firewood and sodas. Water really does smell of sulfur. Probably not dangerous just unappealing. A few miles off the highway but to a noise was still load...

As KOA go, this one is pretty typical. KOA are like the McDonalds of campgrounds, they are not great, but you always know what to expect and it is usually more than acceptable. This KOA is no exception. The park is simple with a small (unheated) pool, and a playground. The staff was super and a great resource if you...

We plan to stay here 3 to 4 nights because we needed a campground close to Chicago for visits to Northwestern Hospital. A close relative is undergoing a serious surgical procedure and we needed to be nearby. That alone is stressful. We reserved a spot weeks ago, expressing the need for 50 amp service. We arrived today to find NO...

Stayed 4/1/2016 to 4/4/2016 Tent camping, nice spot, but LOUD neighbors on both sides of me, just no respect in camping. Seems this KOA has no policies on how people talk and behave. Maybe a site with no electricity, and running water might of helped but people need just to Shut Up and have a nice time. Never took a...

We stayed in this place in route when traveling south for winters. We do it before or after hitting the Chicago area traffic while pulling a fifth wheel. It is a regular KOA. Staff is helpful. Easy access from highway.

Campsite located about an hour south of Chicago. We check in fairly late, about 7.30pm. Luckily they were open until 8 p.m. Service was friendly, gave us the options of full hookup or only water/electrics. Afterwards someone guided us to our spot using a golfcart  Facilities were basic but okay. Showers were hot, and consist of two parts. The...

We stayed one night here in out 30ft motorhome with our four young children. The rate was excellent and we were given the Cruise America discount without asking for it. The manager was very friendly and showed us to our site. The site was big enough. The kids enjoyed the park and climbing equipment. Laundry was clean. Other guests were...

We had the opportunity to stay at this campground for 8 months while working int he area. The campground itself is fairly quiet and kept clean for the most part. The owner's of the campground were very kind and helpful. The internet is very temperamental and is only useful for checking email here and there. Absolutely no streaming and it's...

We stayed at this KOA in August as we were visiting friends in the area. The KOA is close to I-55 and is convenient to Chicago (approximately 1-hour north). The Kankakee River State Park is nearby where one can rent horses and go horseback riding on the trails. Entrance/exit to this KOA is tight, so use caution. Interior roads are...

Just last week I spent four days in this "tiny house". If you combine my subject and the fact that "tiny houses' can be a wonderful place to have a get away type of vacation from the busyness of your life, you have come to the Kankakee South KOA. I loved this cabin (they call a lodge). It was neat,...
