Excellent location, the room was pretty clean, and extremely close to a wide range of restaurants, shops, and businesses. On-Site bars were closed at the time. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is a bit more oriented towards couples traveling. Not really a good option if traveling with kids.
My husband and I decided to do a staycation. We had thought of the peninsula, but this hotel seemed like a good deal, with a spa and we were able to get a suite - so we decided to try it. This was a mistake and one of the worst travel experiences we have had in Chicago . First, we were not informed that no restaurants , lobby bars etc were completed. The hotel was a construction zone. Second , it was a 45 minute wait just to check in and the staff at checkin was not particularly welcoming. Finally , my husband had a spa appointment at 12:30 - the earliest time that they had available. We had asked to have checkout extended 1/2 hour to allow home to shower after the appointment. They not only refused , even though they admittedly did not need the room but they were rude and unprofessional. They turned off our key early- and proceeded to call several times prior to checkout time to “ remind” Is they would not let us stay the extra half hour. Their treatment was degrading and completely in appropriate for the situation and type of hotel it espouses to be. The room Its self was fine although poorly lit. We will not be back and would advise anyone to go elsewhere. …
Horrible experience start to finish. Put me in a room that was straight out of a horror movie and smelled like mold/mildew. An hour later my new room was four floors lower, had no view or amenities. Staff didn't care, couldn't be bothered. When I told them the room was gross they told me I can't blame them because they don't know that the room they placed me in was a dirty horror movie set that didn't have functional lights or a locking door. So for my trouble they moved me down four floors into a basic room with no amenities and a terrible view. Worst hotel I've ever been in and I have stayed in $13 rooms in 3rd world countries.
I am very disappointed in the amenities. They don’t offer anyone to help you with your bags. They don’t offer luggage carts you have to ask for them and if you need someone to bring one up, they will not you have to go down and get it. There’s no complementary bottled water or anything to drink. I have stayed in less expensive hotels, and had better amenities that I had in this one. There are too many other options in downtown Chicago.
Hotel is at an excellent central location, walking distance from great restaurants and different attractions of the Chicago Downtown area, including the Magnificent Mile. The room was very comfortable and we had a very pleasant experience with the hotel staff, always courteous and helpful. In case you want go to farther attractions, there are subway stations just 3 blocks from the hotel.
There were wrappers between our bed sheets from the previous stay which tell me the sheets were not changed . 60 bucks for the valet which is ok but they left my car in front of the hotel for over a hour unlocked the whole time .
I would recommend this hotel. Location - Great! It is close to the L-Red line on Grand. Just couple of walks away from areas for dinner like Hubbard street and Mag Mile Room - Great! The room was a good size. We had 2 beds and they were queens. Everything was neat and clean. The shower was very nice and new. And they used pumps for shampoo, conditioner etc so you don't have to ask the front desk all the time to get more. Service - Great! The front desk folks were so nice. Very friendly and always said hello when we passed by. Check in and check out was easy. We left our luggage with their security the morning we checked out because our plane was at night and they actually have a room that locks it up. The only reason I didn't give it an excellent was that the bar/restaurant was always closed. That was somewhat disappointing. I think it opened the day we left. …
Upsides: This hotel was positioned in a great location. Nearby bars, restaurants, pharmacy and supermarket. no more than 4 blocks apart. The hotel itself was clean and nice. Staff was very friendly. Downsides: Hotel Bar and Restaurant is closed down which was a big deal to me as I usually eat and drink at night during my vacation stays. Bathroom privacy is tough if sharing a room. You could pretty much hear everything going on in the bathroom because of the sliding doors.
Well located hotel in State street within walking distance to metro stops and the Michigan ave shopping area. Rooms are pleasant but air-con is noisy, as is the in-room bar fridge (which is empty). The rooms also receive a lot of street noise. The bar and restaurant areas were shut when we were there. Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful but did not seem well informed
Recently did a route 66 trip and my hotel was swapped last minute tho eurostars, what a result!! Everyone there was pleasant and helpful, room was lovely and clean and a great view of the streets below.Everything was tip top. Only drawback. we both left our jackets in the room by mistake and only realised 1000+ miles down the road! I would recommend to anyone. Thank you
