Without such high expectations, the Burnham is likely four stars, but I was anticipating more. The service was great, from the doormen to the front desk to room service delivery - all five-star in nature. The room was the disappointment - it was remarkably average. The furniture (dresser and desk in particular) looked worn and old; the decor in the... More

From check-in to check-out, our stay at the Burnham Hotel was fantastic. We had told the hotel it was our anniversary and upon opening the door to our upgraded suite, we were met with champagne, cupcakes, towel swans and rose petals on the bed. The second night, the hotel sent up chocolates and more champagne. The hotel is beautiful with... More

I have yet to find a Kimpton hotel I didn't love and this one was no exception. Great location across from the Macy's on State Street. Super clean room. Free wine hour. Warm welcome from the reception desk. Walking distance from Union Station. Couldn't ask for a better stay!

The hotel is in the Reliance Building, which was built in the 1890s and has been fully refurbished. Several floors (the top floors) have marble walls in the hallways and other fixtures from the original building. I booked this hotel because of the great reviews and historic character.
