Hotel Monaco is our favorite go to hotel in Chicago! The staff is amazing, the bed is very comfortable and the river view room window ledge is perfect for a afternoon nap! Mark the concierge was extremely helpful and Antonio is the best door man in Chicago! Did I mention free wine hour?!

Hotel's Favourite
There are many options when staying in Chicago but I would definitely stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco again. First, the location is great if you're looking to stay in the heart of the city. It's located off the river and it's near plenty of restaurants and shopping. It does tend to get pretty busy outside with tourist but that wasn't an issue for the 4 days I was there. The staff was extremely friendly from the doormen to the front desk. Special thank you to Caroline for being so friendly and helpful. The lobby is a decent size and furnished nicely. I had a King River View room. The room was nice overall and clean. The bed was comfortable and I liked the shower. Unfortunately the view was lackluster, I could barely see the river from my window. To be fair when I checked in the front desk did tell me I could possibly switch rooms if I was unhappy after my first night but I didn't even mention I was disappointed with the view. Also, floors did have a lot of dips in weird spots and the carpet could have used a good cleaning but it wasn't horrible by any means. Due to Covid the hotel is only doing housekeeping by request which I didn't mind at all. The valet is around $65 a day but does include in and out privileges. I think it's good if you're going to be going in and out all day. I only rented a car for 2 days and used a parking garage around the corner which was about $15 for 12 hours but it didn't have in and out privileges.

I’ve visited this hotel a few times and usually it’s great but last time I went someone tried to take my purse in the bar area in the hotel. It was an unfortunate event but what annoyed me the most is that no one in the hotel/bar tried to help me! After the event I went to the reception and discussed it with them and they weren’t interested either. I would only suggest look after your valuables and I’d recommend the hotel get some door people to protect the customers whilst eating/drinking and using the hotel lobby area! Otherwise the hotel is great.

Very nice and clean hotel in a historic Chicago building. Great location near shopping, navy pier, and Michigan Ave. Hotel staff is awesome. Very attentive to all of our needs especially Jevon and Mark at the front desk. Antonio at the door is probably the best doorman that we have ever had. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. I do not normally write reviews, but we have stayed here several times and feel other should know about this gem.

We were in Chicago for a show at the Chicago Theatre and this hotel is the perfect location! It's an easy walk to the theatre as well as everything else you could possibly need - restaurants, convenience stores, drug stores, sightseeing, etc. There is a restaurant on-site and you can even get Jeni's ice cream from the front desk. Best of all - the staff and rooms are spectacular! We had a corner river view suite with 3 window seats and they are the hotel amenity I never knew I needed. We spent a lot of time just sitting in the window people watching and watching boats on the river. Even though we were literally right next to the window, the room was SO quiet! The bathroom layout was absolutely perfect. Our standard measurement is "would I want this bathroom in my house?" and this checked all the boxes. The showerhead was tall enough for my 6'3 husband while I was able to put the handheld shower in short girl mode for my 5'4 self. The shower itself was wide enough that you don't feel crammed and it even had a foot ledge for washing and shaving legs, addressing my pet peeve with most walk-in showers. I also liked that, other than the door, the remaining glass went all the way to the floor, eliminating the water leakage onto the floor that tends to happen in many hotel showers. Best of all, the staff was so welcoming and helpful! Special shout outs to our valet, Hector, who greeted us any time we left or returned and offered to get us anything we could possibly want. He even ran into my husband at the 7-11 across the street and remembered him. And while I didn't get names, the concierge gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Smith & Wollensky) and the gentleman at the front desk who checked us in and out was also very friendly and answered any questions we had. Our only complaint is that we only stayed for an overnight - it was the first time in a while that I was sad to check out of a hotel! Kimpton Hotel Monaco will be our "home base" for any future shows we attend in Chicago.

Great location and the service of Mark at the front desk and Antonio the Doorman was above and beyond! We enjoyed the nightly free wine cocktail hour. We were able to walk all over the city from the hotel and views to die for from our room!

Just called here, three times....to ask a question on a suite. First call, a woman picks up and says, "So what were you saying?" not a Hello, not "Hotel Monaco" just "what were you saying?.... I then said hello?? is this the Hotel Monaco? she just clicks off, silence, I don't know if I'm on hold or what, no music, nothing..... I hang up and call back, it rings and rings and rings and rings...then turns to a busy signal. Third call rings and rings and rings, I then just hang up. Not worth the trouble

This was a four day weekend for our first trip to Chicago. The location serves as the perfect starting point for all CHicago tourist sites, restaurants, etc. So much is walkable, and the EL and Ubers took care of the rest. The room was great, updated and everything worked well. We had a great view of the river (you have to pay more for the view), but once we reserved the room, we forgot about the extra $$ and just enjoyed it. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. It's nice staying at a place where the staff gets along with each other and seemed to enjoy being at work. Hector, the bellman, steered us to two great restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Kimptons always seem to have just the right level of luxury. We will definitely stay here again for our next trip, since I can't think of a reason to look elsewhere.

I’ve stayed at numerous properties in downtown Chi on business & visiting family over the last 28 years, usually at the four seasons till they changed their lobby & bar, came to this Kimpton property by accident, Intercontinental was filled and they referred me to their sister property: glad they did, got a suite overlooking the Chicago River, Room was perfect, super new, clean, quiet, views tremendous, staff outstanding, door man, Anthony I believe was tremendously helpful, he actually also brought our luggage up, the restaurant for breakfast was perfect, in general I was really surprised for half the cost of the Four Season, I had a more enjoyable experience, it’s a boutique hotel, the things they need to work on, Have the bar stay open till midnight, Have an outside greater till 11 pm, only little things, but you get 5 stars from us, we will be back!

This was a really fantastic stay for a business trip. The front desk people were very friendly and gave me an awesome upgrade when they realized I had IHG status. The room was amazing, very funky decor and felt roomy and luxurious. The entrance and halls also appeared newly renovated. I loved the decor. The restaurant was great. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough good things about this stay.
