We loved our 2-night stay at the Publishing House B&B! Our room (the Sinclair Room) was large and lovely with lots of windows....and they had very thoughtfully installed electric black out blinds for all the windows for better sleep conditions. We were delighted with the comfort of the King bed, and especially the down pillows. My husband loved them so much he asked for where they bought them, and then promptly ordered 2 for our own bedroom at home. The Innkeeper had also thoughtfully provided earplugs for each person to block out the city noise for better sleeping. The fresh-cooked hot breakfast they provided (with a choice of refreshments and a frig where we could store food/bevs in the common area. They also hosted a little happy hour one night with our choice of wine, beer or cocktail, or non-alcoholic drinks and some appetizers. Very nice, and it gave us a chance to meet some of the other guests. The common areas were really lovely - furnishings, structures, decorating and artwork were beautiful! The Innkeeper and other staff were all just great and so welcoming and helpful. We look forward to returning sometime. The only suggestions we had are for better lighting around the make-up mirror in the bathroom, and it would have been nice to have two sinks instead of one in there. …
Room was comfortable, breakfast delicious, communication was awesome. We paid the $25/day to park in their reserved spot, made things so much easier for us. Would highly recommend this place, so unique and interesting.
The Publishing House is an amazing experience. Our room was beautiful, the common area was great to lounge in, and you can't beat the location. The staff particularly were amazing - Kimberly, Monet, and Shay were all tremendous and made us feel right at home during our entire stay. If you're looking for an amazing gem in Chicago, you have to check out The Publishing House.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The beds are SO comfortable. The rooms are tastefully decorated. The entire place has such charm and warmth. Comfortable furniture everywhere. We woke up every morning to a wonderful fire going in the common room fireplace. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed the rotating menu and having someone serve me a pot of tea while my husband got a pot of coffee was just divine. We chatted with other patrons at breakfast and when we got too cold on our Chicago exploits we came back to the common room to read or relax. This place is conveniently located. We walked to Fulton Market and explored the neighborhood and the L was a short walk away as well which we used for trips farther out. West Loop was a cool place to be, but also really easy to drive into and find parking when coming from the south. (We drove up from KY.) If you are a reader, a writer, or into anything literary or publishing, you NEED to stay here. All the rooms are writer themed. But even if you aren't (my husband, for one), the Publishing House BnB is pleasurable stay all around. Kimberly and her staff are attentive but not invasive, and being greeted by Angus and Louis made my day. We have been to Chicago several times before and always stayed in a different spot. But I know where we'll stay when we come back next time!…
From the moment I walked up to the blue door, I knew my stay at The Publishing house was going to be special and the experience did not disappoint. I stayed in the Everleigh room and immediately felt at home. The room is stylishly furnished - if I was going to live in a studio in Chicago, it'd be this room. The enormous bathroom featured a cast iron claw foot tub and a steam shower, I availed myself of both. The bath products were top of the line - I smelled great the entire trip! The staff was friendly and the vibe was comfortable and homey. Breakfasts consisted of freshly baked muffins, coffee cake, or scones, cut fruit, granola, yogurt and a selection of 2 made to order options. Plus, my own french press full of steaming hot coffee or pot of tea brewed fresh from loose leaf tea. There were even two pugs that made their appearances after breakfast. When I return to Chicago, I won't stay anywhere but The Publishing House.…
Feather bed was incredibly comfortable. Decor was amazing and the bathroom was huge. Heated floors, steam shower and automatic blinds were a nice touch. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic! Freshly made and unique and flavorful. Will definitely stay here again. Manage my was very communicative. Great stay.
Such a perfect place - rooms, breakfast, decor, music, ambiance, restaurant/bar - all of it perfect. Loved it so much - thank you for such an amazing experience to make chicago weekend perfect. The location is close to the subway and an easy walk to amazing restaurants. We walked down to river walk and the bean - perfect location quiet but walkable. Loved all of it
The Publishing House was a lovely retreat at the end of each day. The breakfast staff kindly accommodated my need to eat and run early and I appreciated the butler's pantry for hot and cold beverages. Those blueberry friands were amazing! I should have taken two!
I was in town for business at a busy convention time. I was lucky to get the last room available at this great B&B. Our stay in the Everleigh Room was most enjoyable. The rooms are large, have spa like bathrooms, and the morning breakfasts are great! We were even treated to a Happy Hour with the owner one evening. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful stay at the Publishing House last week! We were in the Dybek room and it was perfect. The room was bigger than we expected and very nicely decorated. The bed was the most comfortable bed that we have ever slept in! The whole vibe of the B&B is cool and sexy. It kind of feels like a hotel, but the common areas and amazing breakfast really level up the experience. We had breakfast twice at the B&B and the options were delicious! Fruit, pastry (the banana cake was to die for!!!), yogurt, and granola, in addition to the specials that you can choose from. Breakfast is served in this great common area and you can socialize as much or as little as you want with the other guests. Very neat! All of the staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. You can tell they care about providing great customer service. We were able to get early check in, which was much appreciated! They do not typically staff the front desk, but they are just a phone call or text away if you need anything. We had a small issue with our code not working and Kim helped us right away! The location was perfect. We love to take advantage of the walkability of places we travel to, so this was a great home base for hitting up the tourist spots during the day and heading out to fabulous restaurants (shout out to Monteverde and Aba!!) later on. We highly recommend the Publishing House!!!…
