We stayed for five days and had a great experience. Our room on the 32nd floor was large and comfy. The bed was great and so was the shower. All the staff was fantastic, Nick, the bartender was the best. He made a point to remember our names, was cheerful and poured great drinks. I'm knocking one star off, though, because of the janky couch. Our room had a big wrap around sectional which we really liked; however, if you sat on the edge of it, the whole thing tipped forward. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would return.
My husband and I visited Chicago for our Anniversary and it was such and amazing experience. The W Lakeshore from the start was a party. When we walked in there were people everywhere having a good time. The dj was playing music and it was an overall good vibe. We checked in quickly and came back down to the party had an amazing dinner and drinks. . Met some really cool people. The check in is right next to the bar. So it was hard to hear the front desk person because it was so loud. The room was beautiful, very modern. the bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. The bathroom was small but it was enough for us. The light was good in the room. You had to request a fridge (they were all taken during our stay). The location: W Lakeshore was the perfect location as you could walk to Navy Pier . It was so convenient. We walked everywhere and it was in a nice safe area. Lots of stores and places to eat in the neighborhood. You had views of Lake Michigan. The staff was very friendly and kind. The cook customized my meal to make sure it was gluten free. There were not alot of gluten free options at the hotel but restaurants near by had you covered. They gave complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning. I would stay at this hotel everytime I visit Chicago it was amazing all around and the location was the best. The only bad thing I could think of was the water choice. They had Dasani or Aquafina the worst water in the world in My opinion. I think a nice hotel like this should have better water for their guests . At least some spring water. Anything but Dasani or Aquafina. …
Nice location and friendly staff. Alas... Walls are paper-thin, you can follow the conversations of the people in the next room. Nice interlude at 03:41 when a drunk group decides to have an impromptu party in the hallway, with much shouting. 24 hours parking sets you back 79 bucks, so that's a steal (literally)...
Great posh hotel with amazing views. Situated right on historic lake shore drive, this W property has everything you’d expect from the W brand. When you first walk in, you’re greeted by the vibrant energy of the hotel lobby bar and restaurant along with a very fun atmosphere. I had the pleasure of staying in a king bedroom on a higher floor and was treated to amazing views of Lake Michigan and navy pier. The room decorations are slightly outdated, but still offer a fun, contemporary vibe. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was spacious. The hotel was loud in the lobby but quiet on the guest floors. The waterfall shower in the bathroom was fantastic. The hotel comes with a well stocked gym and an indoor pool. No hot tub or sauna though. No microwave or mini fridge in the room. With the exception of a subpar food service and food for the breakfast restaurant, the staff and service was great. Overall, 4/5 or 8/10. …
Great view of lake but lots of traffic noise from Lakeside Drive. Room very average. Falling asleep I felt like I was in a Motel 6 by the interstate. This in a room that was $500 a night. Also restaurant and rooftop lounge permanently closed. Stay away!
Very disappointing and maybe 3/5 is even a stretch for this property. First impressions last so hence the 3, the valet was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Reception check in efficient and friendly too. Room was just awful! Stale smell, out of date decor, run down, needs repairs, uncomfortable bed and terrible pillows!! Outdoor space is empty and there is no life to the hotel Lobby bar for evening drink was fine, bar tender was friendly, no decent choice of drinks - very basic. I’ve stayed in a lot of Marriott properties in Chicago and this was the worst.
Booked room reading about 360 lounge on the top of the building with spectacular view. To my surprise found out that lounge is closed, open only for private events. Staff wasn't very friendly or accommodating when asked about gaining access. Besides, their "spectacular" room is not that spectacular. You have to pay for internet access. Rooms were not updated for a long time. Over all, I am very disappointed...
We stayed here to be close to Navy Pier. The lake views were breathtaking. The room was clean. the staff friendly, and the food amazing. If you are looking for a hotel walking distance to Navy Pier with great views, this is it.
Stayed here for one night while in Chicago for business. I have to say this might be the worst W hotel I have ever seen. The place looks like it is literally falling apart. My room was terrible. It smelled like smoke (even though this is a non-smoking hotel), the furniture was broken and stained, the tile in the bathroom was coming off, and the bed was so uncomfortable that the floor would have been better. On top of that, you can hear every noise from your neighbor’s room and the hallway. One star was generous for this hotel. I would have given zero if that was an option. Don’t stay here.
One of the highlights of our trip - also caught the taxi boat which at $16 a head was a bargain. If you have time, a trip to the zoo (free) is a must Red bus tour at $50 each a rip off $5 daily ticket for their overground local loop trains was a bargain Expect to pay $12-15 for a glass of wine
