The wooden floors are a must for asthma sufferers.

I have asthma that is triggered by dust. I've stayed at the Westin, Intercontinental and more recently, the Park Hyatt.

Before the holidays, I was traveling on business for three weeks. The first week, I stayed at the Park Hyatt. A lovely hotel. But, despite the truly amazing amount of housekeeping, I still had an extraordinarily painful time breathing due to the carpeting. I had to move hotels.

This hotel had wooden floors and can be easily wiped down, avoiding the years of dust build up that other hotels have in their carpets and drapery. Because I was very anxious about my health, I called ahead and asked for the room to be dusted extra (e.g., vents, areas around the bed, etc.). The person on the phone said it was noted in my account. When I checked in, the person at the front desk said I had featherless pillows. I asked if anything else was done to per my request, she said it was cleaned by housekeeping as they normally do and that I had nothing to worry about. I explained my health issues and asked if she'd call housekeeping so I could explain my needs. She obliged, annoyed, and told them on the phone that she had "a difficult client." I asked to speak to the manager.

In came Karen, the Assistant GM. She took my concerns incredibly seriously. She personally spoke with housekeeping and assisted them in hyper-cleaning my room. They shook the bedding free of lint, in the hallway to avoid floating dust in the room. The second week I was there, there was some new construction noise, so I moved rooms. Again, Karen and the kind housekeeping staff prepared the room the same as before...shaking the linens in the hall, dusting and mopping the entire room, not just the floors.

I am extraordinarily grateful for Karen's sincere attention to my health concerns, her follow up, and all in all very enjoyable stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The style of the rooms is distinct and different than other traditional American hotels that we stayed in- it is a cool change of pace. The workout room is very spacious and the pool is very nice. Covid precautions are being observed and we felt very comfortable in this environment. Checkin staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was very clean and well appointed. Definitely a recommended downtown stay in Chicago.

This hotel is ideally situated if you're interested in shopping on Michigan Avenue or enjoying some of the many restaurants in the neighborhood.

The rooms are nice but it was housekeeping that we loved at this property. The woman we dealt with went out of the way to get us coffee, etc. that was not in the room thanks to covid.

My only complaint with the room is that it isn't carpeted. Just a personal preference. I think a carpet adds warmth.

Checked in only to pull down the sheets to notice these stains. Hotel was full because of a bad snow storm so was never brought clean linens and just decided to go to bed instead of staying up waiting for them.

Besides that, the room is modern and pretty clean and the front desk while pleasant while checking in.

I'll start with the good. Location is great, easily walkable to just about anything Chicago has to offer. Plenty of food & entertainment right outside the hotel door. Even has a Trader Joe's right underneath it.

My question to this hotel, why make rules if you are not going to enforce or follow them? We specifically picked this hotel because it was 1 of 3 in the City that had a pool open for our children. They clearly tell you online, and when you check in, that you MUST make a reservation to use the pool because they are limiting capacity. You were only allowed to sign up for 1 hour slots. So we followed the rules, made a reservation, and planned our entire trip around our scheduled pool time. At 7pm, we entered the pool area, and was shocked. I counted 24 very loud people in that small area. We were told 13 was the max. Most of these 24 people were there when we entered, and still there when we left at 8pm. Many more people just randomly wondered in, and left, because it was so hectic. The pool is on the 5th floor, there is nobody making announcements or tracking peoples times, or no wristbands or tickets or anything. I never once saw any hotel personnel check into the pool area. They didn't have any towels left. It was a disaster. So why make rules if you are not going to follow them????

Also, as a previous review stated, their elevator system is flawed. Inside each elevator they had kleenex to push buttons. Sanitizer was only on the ground floor, but not on the 5th or 6th floor. Guests & kids everywhere didn't have masks and were not following the posted rules.

I'm not saying I agree with all the COVID rules & guidelines. But why make rules if you have no desire to follow them?

Thank you for sharing your feedback kea2nm. I certainly understand your frustration and agree with your points. We have modified our enforcement policies and double checked all sanitizer station placement throughout the property. We hope to see you back again here later this year.

Ac hotel Chicago is undoubtedly the top 1 hotel qualified for age discrimination. The check in process was completely a chaotic. When I check in, they asserted that I’m not 21 years old so I can’t be able to check in. I told them that I have checked in many Marriott hotels without any problem and I show the guy at the front desk that there’s no any policy shown on the app or website when I booked the room. I asked him if he can put me in other hotels that have no age requirements and he just said I don’t know. I asked him if he can ask the supervisor since I have never had this problem. Then, he said no he will no do anything either because it’s their policy. The whole process proves he can only nod at everyone that walks in and no ability of resolving the problems for the customers.

I started to volume up at the guy since he can only do nothing but saying it’s our policy. The other lady(trying to save her colleague life) came out and screamed at me that she has the right to kick me out. I really don’t know what I did wrong. Later my friend came check us in and the guy at the front desk took like forever to do the check in process. I double checked with him about the rate so he won’t overcharge my friend and he kept telling me the wrong rate which is (50 dollars more). I showed him the receipt from the time that I booked the room. He just said I have no right to change the price. I realized that he probably trying to play some game with me and avoid me from checking in. After that, the lady yelled at me before came out and patiently “taught” him how to do. Then, everything went smoothly with her assist. This guy at the front desk definitely need some training in order to provide better service. Otherwise, He should be FIRED with his incapability of dealing with any problems.

I would recommend everyone staying away from this hotel. As a long time Marriott member, I will stop going to any Marriott hotels due to this hotel’s age discrimination, world’s worst attitude and disability of dealing with any problems. I will be looking into booking with Hilton that provides better service and hotel experience.

Hotel staff is nice and friendly. Sadly they use this to trick you into taking third party services that over charge you. Upon my checkout I was about to request an Uber when the hotel advised me not too and they had someone that was a better price.

The person they called ended up being almost double the Uber cost.

I called the hotel and requested to speak to a manager, instead received a supervisor who apologized and said they would forward my concerns. I asked for an email follow up and have heard nothing.

As a titanium member with Marriott this shows the hotel supports the actions of scamming it's guests.

DO NOT STAY HERE.

We traveled to Chicago to celebrate our milestone anniversary. We are lifetime Marriott titanium members and have traveled worldwide to many Marriott properties. This one is amongst the worst.
The place was an absolute zoo… Filled with kids running in the halls all night long with no security to patrol. We couldn’t sleep.
They have severely cut their staff so long lines at the front desk and ZERO management or customer service.
There seemed no regard for Covid protocol. Even housekeeping staff were not wearing masks. Only two of three elevators were working and were very slow so none of the guests followed the Covid guidelines one family per elevator trip which crowded guests into the elevators.
Terrible experience…

Clean hotel, but the air conditioner was always leaking puddles on the floor. Also very sparse on items provided. For example, there was no extra Kleenex, hand towels missing.
The pillows on the bed were uncomfortable, and there was only 1 desk chair in the room. You had to sit on the bed, if you were a couple.

Average rooms, nothing special. Bathrooms small, door to bathroom doesn't lock. Not enough spaces to unpack bag if staying for multiple nights. AC noisy. Buffet breakfast good value. Housekeeping "forgot" our room in the rotation, leaving us without clean towels or TP.
