Ray's Bucktown Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful, funky, home-away from home in Chicago. The whole place is an adventure in art and design, full of wonderful collections and surprises around every corner. Ray and his terrific staff go out of their way to make your stay truly memorable. And the best part is breakfast - the menu is full of fabulous treats and the daily specials are to die for. The skilled kitchen staff (and you can eat in the kitchen if you'd like) can make just about anything your heart desires in the morning. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the windy city!

Property's Favourite Review
This is our second visit staying at Ray's B&B in Bucktown. Ray's is a short walk to our son's place and has officially become our "home away from home" in Chicago. On this visit we stayed in the WEST ROOM under the kitchen. It is a small oddly shaped room with the on suite bath down a very narrow hallway... but the layout worked out OK for two adults and two children. Our girls loved the bunk beds and the queen bed was fine for the adults. We hardly noticed any noise at all from the kitchen on the first floor. Everyone slept very well - the West Room was warm and cozy on a few very cold Chicago nights. Once again Ray's breakfast delivered. This is the first time for the girls and they loved having pancakes and eggs. The eggs benedict was lovely and the omelets are HUGE. Bottom line... Ray's is great. Ray's is great for couples and for families. Ray's is eclectic and unique. Go to Ray's!!! We've tried two different rooms so far and will continue checking out a different room with each stay. Can't wait for the weather to warm up; we will be back at Ray's in 2022. I really need to get to see a Cubby Game... been way too long. For those who don't have a relative living nearby, you should definitely consider staying at Ray's B&B as your "base of operations" for your Chicago visit. Ray's is convenient to Wriggly Field, Downtown Chicago, and Lincoln Park. You can walk to the BLUE LINE (O'Hare, Downtown). There are great restaurants in the area. A cab to Michigan Ave was only $15. There is FREE street parking in the neighborhood.

From the moment we arrived, staff was friendly and very welcoming. They gave us an orientation to the place so we would know where everything was and how things worked and what we could expect during our stay. We chose to have breakfast in our rooms. Not only was it beautifully presented, it was super delicious. If you're looking for a bed and breakfast and you're on the fence about Ray's, take the jump. You will not be disappointed.

I really can't say enough things about Ray's lovely Bucktown B and B. My husband and I have done a staycation there twice and loved it both times. The rooms are darling and the beds are the most comfortable ever! The homemade breakfasts are generous and delicious. There is also a sauna and steam room, if you can tear yourself away from the wonderful art and kitsch collections in the common areas.

We love staying at Ray's! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the vibe of this place is something special. Ray has lived an interesting life, and his B and B is filled with treasures from his life and travels. The location is handy, too! But the breakfast is SUPERB! Great cooks will make you a delicious breakfast made to your order. Definitely stay at Ray's - you'll love it!

Ray's Bucktown BnB is my Chicago home when I drive up to visit my kids. On this most recent trip, I brought my dog and was so pleased at the truly warm welcome we received! (There are even dog treats for passersby on the front porch-- my dog loved them!) As always, the room was clean and cozy-- the Chickadee room this time.. with radiant heat in the bathroom floor and a great soaking tub! The room was clean and quiet. I woke to the smell of coffee and truly the best omelette in town, made to order. I met and chatted with interesting guests, such as a woman traveling with her beautiful cat who was booked for an ad shoot. You can spend hours looking at the art, extensive Red Wing collection and more. And if you want a cozy corner to read or just be alone and quiet, there are a few nooks and crannies to choose from. The staff is truly committed to making your stay a 5 star experience!

Just stayed at a filthy b+b in NOla (1896 O'Malley House) which reinforced that I should write this review. The house is quirky, well-kept, and in a wonderful (quieter) location. The host is nice and not intrusive. The chef is probably the best part -- also not intrusive and incredibly accommodating! I wanted her to cook every meal for us! My dog loved it there, too :)

Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Nice room. Lots of comfortable common space to relax in. Lots of restaurants nearby. Able to walk to the Trap Door Theater for a show in the evening. Three of us stayed in the Eagles’ Nest room for the weekend. Very comfortable. As a former 20-year resident of Bucktown, I felt like I was back home. Ray’s is definitely the first place I will turn to when looking to spend a night in the city.

It’s charming, cozy, friendly; interesting location, and Ray and the staff are kind and helpful. 14/10. Also unusual and interesting art; and some public and semi-public places to hang out. It’s close to the blue line (10-15 minutes on foot).
