I am never sure what to expect when staying at a hotel within a club. The Union League Club more than met my expectations. The common areas are impressive. Had multiple meals where both food and service were a positive experience. The gym had lots of equipment and very few other people in the space. The location is perfect for walking to all of the attractions in downtown Chicago. The price point is a good value realtive to other hotels in downtown Chicago.

I have been to a wedding here and to a luncheon and the architectural detail to each and every floor here is so beautiful. The wood work, the art collection, and the people who work here are so wonderful. We attended a wedding in September and it was flawless. The food was a taste sensation.

You’ll have a superior experience at this traditional hotel/club. The staff is top notch and the rooms are warmly adorned. The Grand Ballroom is magnificent and with over 900 pieces of art throughout the club, it is a majestic place. Several bars and restaurants available on site.

Stayed here one night for a small reunion party because we wanted to enjoy the city next day. This hotel was a pleasure with its patina of historic elegance. It's an old building and our room was small, but has been updated nicely. Bedding was comfy (the important thing). Enjoyed the enormous art collection mounted throughout impressive ballrooms and foyers. Courteous staff at all turns. Located steps from so many downtown landmarks, including Millennium Park. If this is the type of place you enjoy, it's a wonderful option at a sane price.

The building is beautiful with its ornate mouldings and woodwork, lots of art throughout the building, and they welcomed us to explore. We wandered through the floors and enjoyed their art collection, most are American artists from the early 20th century. There are contemporary artworks as well. The works were stunning and we were glad to see these amazing treasures in the hotel. We were here for the holidays and it was decorated very nice. The food is good and servers are attentive. Tip - there is a parking structure right next door. Use Spothero to get a good parking discount if you want to park yourself. They do offer valet parking as well.

Just had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner at the Union League Club. The wide selection of dishes on the buffet was fabulous and one item better than the next. Waitstaff was well prepared to handle crowd and very friendly and efficient. Could not have had a more wonderful Thanksgiving celebration.

I went to the ULC for a conference. All employees were nice and helpful. All the ones to whom I spoke were bilingual, what is always a plus. Room was very clean. Fast WiFi. All 4 elevators worked fine and were sufficient for the needs. Location is great and prices are not bad. Not a single problem.

I stayed for 3 nights in a two bedroom suite for an event hosted at the Union League Club. The rate was very good considering the other suite options in the city (and we did get a discount for the event attendance). The theme of the stay was "it's not a hotel." So on occasion this was pretty obvious. On most occasions, the service was still very good. This may or may not bother you, so here are a few examples: 1. On check in, front desk had to page housekeeping to get the status of when the room would be ready. They told me to come back later. I come back an hour later. They tell me it's another hour. I come back and the room is ready and they (quite literally) threw me the keys. No directions on where the elevators were or what floor. I understand we were there early, but by the time we checked in, it was only an hour prior to stated check in time. At a large chain hotel, I have never had any issues with checking in massively early. As I stated, "it's not really a hotel." 2. There were only 4 elevators for 20+ floors. The elevators had just gone through refurbishment, but I don't think they are used to large volume of coming and goings. Because, "it's not really a hotel." 3. Room service was hit or miss. I called twice for room service and the first time, the woman answering had no idea what was even on the menu. On the menu there were 3 soups listed (and one was the daily soup). I asked her what the daily soup was, she told me it was one of the other 2 listed. I asked her for kids meal side with a side of fruit, and she told me my option only came with fries (even though at the top of the menu it stated the side selections). The first time it took about an hour to get the food. The second time about 30-40 minutes. Again, "it's not really a hotel." But, I will say the food was really quite good. So, if you don't want to make the trek out, at least you get good quality food. 4. We tried to go to the buffet breakfast in the Wigwam, and the guidelines stated that there was no dress code in the Wigwam before 11am. We get there at 8:00 am and are told my husband cannot be admitted because he is in a t-shirt. I point out that everything says "there's no dress code before 11am." And the attendant says, "there isn't a dress code. you need a collared shirt." It's too early to argue semantics that early, and I say "it's not really a hotel" it's a club, and we leave to go to Wildberry Pancakes (which is amazing). 5. Non-existent wi-fi. So SLOWWWWW. All of the above aside... The food was decent. The location was good to the L trains. The rooms were a fairly good size for being downtown (the bathrooms teeny tiny - as expected). The rooms were also very clean and tidy. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating to the kids (when I told my toddler to stop running in the lobby because it's not allowed, the concierge overheard me and said "Kids can runaround, adults can't!" in a joking fashion). I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they would accommodate some of our requests. Rooms were pretty quiet. I could hear sirens but not really road traffic. And since I couldn't find any of this information online - a two bedroom suite has a small room in the middle with it's own separate entrance. Our friends had another one, so I can at least vouch for the consistency. The middle room comes with a pull out couch, and one or two arm chairs, and a desk. The middle room also has the largest bathroom out of the three bathrooms. The two bedroom suites offers 1 room with a large king and one room with 2 queens. The large king room has a good size footprint and includes a desk and two arm chairs. The 2 queens room has a desk but not a lot of walking space.
