Delightful stay at a historic bed and breakfast/boarding house. Comfortable common area including kitchen. Continental breakfast included. Safe and clean, close to public transportation. My room included a half bath. A slight hiccup at check in was resolved quickly.

we didn't get room 13, we had room 3A. We were put off by the description that the bathroom was across the hall. There's no doubt that this is a bit of a quirky old place. But it was also comfortable and was very convenient for DePaul University. It was also more affordable than other hotels we saw in the city. The room was large, the bed was comfortable. Fred, is a kind helpful guy. The floors creak, there is no elevator. Sirens from the traffic outside seem to come from inside the room. Breakfast, is not a real positive, unless you like pre-packaged items with high sugar and high carbs (yogurt and bananas are also provided).

I was in room 2A, paying $165/night. The room was filthy, with a terrible smell of something rotten. There was never anyone available at the front desk in the evenings, when I came back from work, so on day 2 I actually bought an air freshener, after leaving the window open all day, but the smell was still terrible. I called them on day 3 and the manager checked the room and immediately apologized, explaining that the guests before me had had a pet dog in the room that wore diapers, and must have soiled the rug or furniture. Great. I was then moved to a smaller, cheaper room, which was shabby and dirty too (but at least didn't smell bad). They still charged me the full original rate. All in all a shockingly bad place - avoid at all costs. The breakfast is also untouchable - a few nutrigrain bars and some gone-off orange juice, coffee in a thermos and a bottle of creamer. After sampling the juice on the first morning, I didn't touch it again.

In town for baseball games, spent 3 nights @ Old Chicago Inn. Fit our needs perfectly. Flew into Midway, easy walk to the train at the airport. Train stop was just around the corner from the inn. Rooms are small but had everything we needed. Fresh coffee downstairs each morning was great. Very good restaurants all around Inn. This will be our go to place for any future Chicago visits.

I’d never stayed in this neighborhood of Chicago before and this place was a real find. My room itself was nothing special, but it was comfortable and inexpensive. There are two living rooms and a full kitchen to relax in. I was allowed to check in early and leave late with no penalty. It is within walking distance to Wrigley Field, Lake Michigan and steps from the L. A nice, simple breakfast is provided. I didn’t get to see the Speakeasy this time, but I plan to stay here again when I am in Chicago.

We loved our stay at Old Chicago Inn! Yes, it was small but for the price you couldn't beat it! It was just a smidge over a half mile from Wrigley field. Walking distance for us. I loved the nostalgia of room 13, the old speak easy restored to what it looked like in the 1930s! I recommend it!

David (inn keeper) is lovely, but he could not make up for the shabby carpets, cramped room (2nd floor), and dust bunnies under the bed. I asked for a mop, and even the mop fell apart (1950s vintage). Postage stamp towels. Came down for breakfast last morning and saw dirty towel on check-in counter. Inn keeper asked if it was mine! I assured him it was not while I noted the black stains on it. Great location, but this place needs some serious updates. Even bed covers were old/worn. I love old hotels/B&Bs, but this place made a Best Western look good.

I emphatically recommend the Old Chicago Inn as you will get the value for your money - both in a stunning, accessible location and dedicated guest service. David in particular is phenomenal to work with and offers attentive care. Excellent place for couples and solo travelers as well as those looking to explore the many splendors the Lakeview/Boystown/Wrigleyville neighborhood(s) has/have to offer (and there are tons)! When seeking transportation, look no further than the Belmont 'L' station, located one minute (walking) southeast of the property. Bearing in mind this is a classic B&B in a historic building, taper your expectations accordingly and let the charm of this classic brownstone encompass you. Always my first go-to when in Chicago!

What a great find! The place is absolutely charming, the area is full of life and interting things to see. The speakeasy downstairs is a must and you are a fool if you miss out on trader Todd's down the way. You do need to know that this is a two star place as advertised. If you require a sterile, soulless 5 star experience then this is not the place for you. Yes, the bathrooms could use an update. Yes, the carpeting could be replaced but all that makes is feels honey and cozy.
