My friend and I wanted a B&B close to Andersonville, and we loved this inn and the neighborhood. The room was very comfortable, the decor (Scandinavian style modern) was beautiful, and the lounge and kitchen well appointed and well equipped. We wanted peace and quiet, and we got it - plus street parking and walking distance to N. Clark St....

We can't recommend this B&B. First I should say that due to a mix up with our train bookings we had to depart a day early. Their late cancellation policy is 'no refund', which we accepted without question. However, checkout time is midday, and minutes after that the proprietor knocked on the door demanding our immediate departure so the maid...

Booked a room recently at 2pm for a stay that same evening. The email confirmation never included codes for the front door or room. All calls to owner's cell phone went straight to voice mail so we used code from previous stay 2 years earlier for a different room than booked. (We needed to get our 70-yr old mother access...

House 5863 is a lovely location, overlooking a 'dog park,' which is a big school, in the Andersonville/Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The CTA is an easy walk to go into the Loop for fun in the Windy City. The manager on-site is friendly and helpful. We've stayed here a number of...

This was a nice, quiet stay that was a good value. We only stayed one evening, but found the neighborhood to be good and it was close to the subway stop. There was plenty of food that was available at any time.

The pros: clean; nice location in Edgewater; easily accessible; keyless entry; some street parking (although we had to park four blocks away when returning after dinner) and a sleek European look. Paid parking is available, but we didn't think it was necessary. The cons: blinds broken and drapes not wide enough to cover the large window which overlooks the street;...

On a lark, I decided to venture to Chicago in the winter to visit some friends and catch a show. One of my friends said there was a B&B near his house in Edgewater. I checked it out and decided that it would be great to stay in Chicago neighborhood rather than a large downtown hotel. I was quite happy...

I stayed here with a friend while visiting another mutual friend who lives in Andersonville. It's a bright, well-kept little place with adequate amenities. I liked the key code entrances to both the inn and rooms - it definitely makes life easier not having to keep track of one more key/card. The room was clean and cozy, with a very...

Stayed at House 5863 recently on a short business/vacation trip. Enjoyed ease of access and the quiest neighborhood. Met the owners shortly after my arrival (I arrived late in the evening and was provided with an access code to get into the B&B and nto my room). Asked for dinner recommendations and was very pleased with their choices. I like...

We booked a room at House 5863 two months in advance of our stay, and were told we have to pre-pay for the rooms. After we had paid, we received confirmation along with instruction on how to access the B&B and the room in the event that we arrived outside of normal hours. Upon arriving at 6:00PM, we discovered the...

“Rooms toward the back (but not right on the garden) are quieter. If you like it cold when you sleep, don't go during hot Chicago summer.”

“Being a B&B, there are not many rooms - but I think they are all very comfortable, from what I could tell. We chose a room away from the street, although the street is quiet, so that would probably not be a problem. Beautiful modern shower, king size bed, free wi-fi (pretty much standard these days), flatscreen tv (which we did not watch). Very clean.”
