We were extremely satisfied with our stay at the lovely Hilton Garden Inn Riverwalk. It was immaculately clean, and centrally located within walking distance of many of the attractions downtown. We were only there one night (in town to go to Wrigley Field) so we didn’t get to do a lot, and we had to cram in as much sightseeing as we could with our limited time. The location of the Hilton Garden Inn made that very doable! We also want to thank the helpful and courteous staff at the front desk. From restaurant recommendations, to Blue Line directions (he even went to the trouble of highlighting the walking route on a map for us!!), Joshua S is a top notch employee. Thank you again, Joshua! We really appreciated all your help!

We had a fun weekend getaway in Chicago and stayed at this hotel. Elevators were fast that it wasn't too hard to do social distancing although occasionally we had to share the elevator. The entrance was rather busy during the day with the people wanted to use the restroom. The main gate was locked all the time - room key was needed to enter. Breakfast ($10 or free for Hilton gold or higher elite members) was served in a bag with a sandwich, yogurt, and fruit cup. Our room was clean and the hotel placed hand sanitizers here and there. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.

I went to Chicago for the first time on a girls' trip with my best friend and this hotel really made the trip special. This hotel is great for lots of reasons:

1) You can't beat the location for the price! Uber was already expensive to go do things like visit the Museum of Science and Industry, so not having to continually pay for Uber to do things like a boat tour, Mag. Mile, or go out to eat was really wonderful.

2) We didn't know that we needed to schedule a cleaning for our room, but they were able to get our room cleaned anyway on the day we asked! Also, we had to ask for extra toilet paper and tissue at one point and we received them very quickly.

3) I used the large, community table in the lobby to do my Bible study one morning and one of the housekeeping staff was getting ready to vacuum that area. He came over and asked me if it would disturb me if he vacuumed (it didn't). I was so impressed at his thoughtfulness to ask!

4) I witnessed another guest have a profanity-laced tirade in the lobby. The guest was upset that his hotel key wouldn't open the door outside. Charl'z, at the front desk, handled it all SO well. He stayed calm, cool, and collected.

5) I booked the hotel through my union's travel agency and there was an issue of my pre-payment not showing up on the hotel's end. So, the hotel ended up running my card. When I realized what had happened, I spoke with Charl'z, who told me exactly what to do and who to contact. He was so nice about it too! Once I reached out to Kandis with my documentation, she quickly got back to me and said the issue had been resolved!

6) The bathroom in our room was pretty big for the size of the room (we were in 1908).

The only thing I wish had been better was the pantry area that has snacks to purchase. It wasn't well-stocked in my opinion. Since the hotel restaurant was closed, it would've been nice to see more drink and dessert options in the refrigerated cases. But, hey, if that's the worst thing I can say about a hotel, I think that's pretty good!

My family and I visited this hotel for a weekend while we were in town for a wedding. We booked two rooms, one of which was booked with a parking package. We called the day before arrival to confirm our bookings and were told that the hotel does not have any parking and we should not have been able to book that room. We had to call numerous times and be transferred to multiple different people to get the room rate lowered. It is frustrating that nobody caught this booking and realized it was an error when it was booked. There is no parking garage attached to this hotel, so I'm not sure why a parking package is even an option. We ended up having to pay $68/day to park in the garage across from the hotel.
The hotel was very nice, however the rooms are extremely small and we both had terrible views out of our rooms, we were on opposite sides of the hotel and both rooms had views of a brick wall. The front desk was always staffed and the main door was locked during the night and the only entrance available required scanning your key card to get in, which made it feel very secure. The staff was friendly. We called down to request more towels and someone quickly brought them up to us, along with extra complimentary bottles of water, which was very nice.

I stayed with a friend at this hotel. We were splitting the cost. The total cost was $109.20. She swiped her card first and signed for half the cost, plus the required deposit. I swiped my card and signed for the remaining amount. However, we each got charged the full amount of the room to each credit card. When we attempted to speak with someone at the location we get the run around as to what happen and how it will be resolved. And now they refuse to speak to us regarding this duplicate/over charge. Our banks have attempted to contact this hotel with little communication. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I recommend other hotels in downtown Chicago, anything but the Hilton Garden inn.

Stayed 3 nights August 30 thru Sept 2. This was my first hotel since the onset of covid but I felt very comfortable during my stay. They had great safety measures in place and checkin/ out process was seamless. Although housekeeping is limited staff were very accommodating getting what we needed. The hotel is in an excellent location and the riverwalk is steps away. I used Spothero for parking and used the garage at 60 E. Lake. The beds were also super comfortable. Overall excellent stay!!

Hi we stayed here one night while passing thru Chicago. I thought this hotel was in a great location based on things we wanted to see in our day trip. We were steps away from Millenium Park and the River Walk, short distance to Buckingham Fountain and the Navy Pier, it also was close to a lot of the restaurant options we were discussing. Due to Covid there was limited amenities. The restaurant was closed and the breakfast was just grab and go. The hotel seemed new and updated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm a HH member and was granted early check in at 1:30. This was a blessing as we have a baby and it was nice to get into Chicago and go to our room and feed him his bottle there. There is no parking thru the hotel but a lot of garages close. There is also nowhere to park your car to unload anything in front of the hotel either. We parked in the E lake garage one block down and paid $25 to reserve a spot for 24 hours with in and out capabilities. We actually could see the garage/our car from our hotel window! If you want a high floor or a river view those are upgrades for a higher price. The hallways and room seemed tight compared to other hotels, but the building is small and in downtown so expected. My biggest complaint is that the outer drapes didn't close. So all you had covering most of the window is a thin almost sheet white curtain. We stayed on the 18th floor and our room faced Morton's stead house that has a huge lit white sign that was right across from our window. So our room was pretty lit up even with all the lights off. Bring an eye mask cover if you like your room dark to sleep!

First, the initial room we were given didn’t have hot water that we discovered at bedtime, so we had to pack up and move the next day.
We had paid for breakfast for each day and assumed it would be served in your restaurant, but it was closed (until the day after we checked out). So we were offered the “grab and go” snacks at the “pantry”. This was gradually depleted as they wouldn’t restock it because the restaurant was projected to open.
The business center had two computers but only one worked the full 8 days of our stay.
Finally we requested that the room be cleaned only once during our stay. We were told it was scheduled at 10 am and we would need to be our of the room. We returned at 5 pm but the room wasn’t cleaned. We were told only “light service” (change towels, make bed but not change sheets, etc.) was done on weekends. As this also hadn’t been done, we were told someone would be sent up, but we needed to leave the room again.

Booked hotel for its location. Hotel rooms are average size. It is an old hotel and the noise from the street is a constant irritation. The worst part is the attached restaurant. Please do not visit that place it is a scam and very expensive. My room was advertised with breakfast included. But every time I ordered a 3egg omlet and Greek yogurt was given a cheque 30USD to sign my room number. On enquiry they said nothing to worry.
But during checkout was reminded that I would be charged for breakfast. When I countered the receptionist that breakfast is included she wanted to cross check the booking on my phone. Then the excuse was two people had breakfast instead of one. When I explained it was only me staying for 5 nights they came up with a brilliant solution to split my bill and charge me half the amount. Reason I had two dishes instead of one. There was a pathetic response from the manager whom I emailed. He just ignored my concern. In short avoid the restaurant and just take the breakfast in any nearby eateries if you really need to stay here

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The Front Desk staff, especially Christine and the early afternoon manager, were amazingly professional and helpful; they provided me directions to local sights and best places to eat with huge genuine smiles and it was clear that they truly love their jobs. The 5-star service you will receive at this hotel easily defeats that of other nearby Hilton properties. It is also worth noting that the rooms are kept extremely clean with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms featuring plenty of amenities.
