Admittedly this grand hotels shows a few dings and dents, but given that it was built for the 1893 Worlds Exhibition it is to be excused. The lobby's mosaics and stained glass recall the elegance of the previous era. Yes, it is pretty and the location, across the street from the Lake and around the corner from the el can't...

Hotels in Chicago are so expensive. Congress was by far the cheapest option in the heart of the city. We had 5 rooms. A couple rooms were great but the majority were mediocre at best. There was a concert in the park with loads of 20's and lots of pot smoking. The B tower was like a Cheech & Chong...

The only reason I am giving this a 1 is because of the location and close walking distance to Millinium Park. This hotel was not only old but scary as well. The key card had a notice on it warning people not to open your room door to anyone! The carpet, drapes, lamps were terrible. I had to walk through...

I'll start with the positive, the location is great. The carpet was wet with some kind of cleaner when I arrived, after two nights, it left me with a full on sinus infection. The smell of musk and intense cleaning solution hits you like wet blanket upon entry. No hot water, and the bathtub drain was plugged and pooled when...

I was a little hesitant to book a room here due to the reviews I had read, but my friend and I like to stay at places that are suppose to be haunted. We stayed one night, the staff was pleasant and accommodating, the room was spacious and clean, and we were within walking distance to where we wanted to...

The Congress Plaza Hotel was the least expensive option among all the hotels I looked at. It was clear from the reviews I read that the hotel could use a remodel. However, I found the room clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the furnishing were on the older side but elegant. The location was great, the view of the...

Congress plaza hotel was a great stay. The staff were excellent and the rooms were large and clean. Situated right outside grant park this hotel is close to the bean as well as the red line. Also, there were lots of great restaurants as well as bars around the area that made our trip great .

Our family of five recently completed a four-night stay at the Congress Hotel. The title says it all. First, the pros... Beautiful, classic hotel in a great location. The cons... 1. We paid for our room in advance through Priceline (full rate, not "name your price."). I was asked for a credit card for incidentals. A sign on the desk...

This is an old historic hotel in a great downtown location. However, the rooms are very shabby, towels are limited, and hot water can be intermittent in times of high demand. Next time I'll stay somewhere else.

Awesome view, great location, rooms have approximately 14' high ceilings, and I enjoyed the historic value. However, the rooms and corridor finishes should not be as old as the building. Corridor and room carpet is so old it's past cleanable. Faucets leaked. Light bulbs burned out. Bathroom floor tile missing grout. All painted surfaces were in desperate need of a...
