Our family of five recently completed a four-night stay at the Congress Hotel. The title says it all. First, the pros... Beautiful, classic hotel in a great location. The cons... 1. We paid for our room in advance through Priceline (full rate, not "name your price."). I was asked for a credit card for incidentals. A sign on the desk...

This is an old historic hotel in a great downtown location. However, the rooms are very shabby, towels are limited, and hot water can be intermittent in times of high demand. Next time I'll stay somewhere else.

Awesome view, great location, rooms have approximately 14' high ceilings, and I enjoyed the historic value. However, the rooms and corridor finishes should not be as old as the building. Corridor and room carpet is so old it's past cleanable. Faucets leaked. Light bulbs burned out. Bathroom floor tile missing grout. All painted surfaces were in desperate need of a...

My husband and I stayed there 1 night. We were able to book the room for $200, which included an AARP discount. Husb always wanted to stay there. First, the room - we were on 13th floor (out of 14). Ceilings were very tall - 20 ft. Furniture was old. Bed pretty comfortable. Room felt alittle 'cold' not in temp...

I recently stayed at the Congress and was so disappointed. The hotel was unbelievably expensive. It is clear that it's history and location are the only perks. They have $20.00 breakfast buffets, unfiltered water, bad coffee, old (not in a good way) unkempt interior furnishings, and no real bathroom ammenities. Not a bang for my buck. On the upside, the...

Valet parking is required to stay at this hotel so if you are driving your own car do not stay at this hotel since the valet service and parking garage do not take responsibility for any damage to your car while in their possession. The hotel management referred all communication to the parking garage manager concerning the incident and took...

We stayed here while visiting our son and the location was excellent, with a spectacular view of the lake and city if you book a superior room. The ground floor lobby areas are very grand with lots of marble, but elsewhere the decor was a little bit shabby in the hallways and in our room, with chipped skirting boards. Our...

I had stayed at the Congress Hotel before and knew it wasn't a 3-4 star hotel but feel it has gotten worse. It's unfortunate because it's in a great location and the lobby itself is beautiful but in order for this hotel to keep up with the rest of the downtown hotels in Chicago they MUST do renovate their rooms....

Do not think this Hotel is Glitz and Glamour. This hotel is truly a classic hotel in the sense of ascetics. When I booked I asked for two beds I was traveling with daughter and girlfriend. We received a single Kings. The first room was Tiny after putting the King size bed in it. No View very basic. One bed....
