We stayed for eight nights. Today it is not a four star hotel, but the staff is very friendly and forthcoming. We had a room on the 21:st florr with a lovely view of the Water tower. The bed was comfortable and clean. We could make coffee but not tea. The location is very good. We had a pleasanr stay.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend, we lasted one night. Our room was terrible. The door handle was dangling with missing pain everywhere. After entering the room, the room was filled with pain marks all over the walls that didn't match any color in the room, the headboard was extremely distressed and torn apart. We decided to try and stay one night. We woke up the next morning and saw yellow stains all over the tile behind the bathroom. We didn't feel comfortable staying and decided to book a new hotel. The gentleman at the front desk said they would help take care of this, but I have reached out 3 times and gotten no response. Please whatever you do, do not stay here.
This Warwick Allerton - Chicago is NOT a 4-star hotel by any stretch. I will speak highly about the staff. There welcoming, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. Room 906 had various hairs in the bathroom and just didn’t feel as clean as it could have been. Our bedsheets had holes and the carpet was a bit gross. The hotel lobby is quite beautiful but rundown. WE WERE NOT OFFERED MAID SERVICE UNLESS WE WERE GOING TO STAY FOUR NIGHTS OR MORE. We paid $168.30 +tax a night. There are way better hotels in the same location for the same price.
I cannot understand the negative reviews for this hotel. My experience was only positive and I had actually anticipated some issues at check in as my stay was a gift pre-paid by my friend but it went smoothly. The lobby is beautiful, I detected no musty smells in the hallways as others indicated, everything was spotless, and I thought the room (I had a King Leisure room) and bathroom were lovely. The bathroom is on the small side, it’s a vintage hotel, but honestly I’ve seen smaller. There was a nice long ledge over the sink and toilet to put your toiletries on. Nice big soft towels. The shower was great, the TV worked fine and the WiFi worked continuously and was perfectly adequate. I didn’t hear a sound from any of my neighbors. Sirens outside, well sure you’re in the middle of the city but nothing that kept me awake. I didn’t need any extra towels, coffee (Starbucks coffee was so good I didn’t need to go out for coffee) etc so I don’t know about that process but everyone I ran into from the staff was very nice and friendly. I was lucky to run into the head chef Ralph in the lobby and he was kind enough to show me the famous Tip Top Tap rooms on the top floor. What a beautiful space for a special event, and they’re doing afternoon tea up there on the weekends. It would have been nice if the restaurant and bar had been open (they definitely plan on reopening) but you’re on Michigan Ave surrounded by restaurants and there are hundreds of places to choose from on Uber Eats and Door Dash. Almost no hotels are doing daily housekeeping right now so taking off points for that seems quite petty to me. Especially considering the more than reasonable price for a hotel at that location I have no problem giving the Allerton a top rating. It’s so nice that they understand and respect the hotel’s history and have done a great job on the renovations. Do your research and make your expectations reasonable during these Covid times and I doubt you’d be disappointed in the Allerton.…
Dont trust this hotel took my credit card details for room as deposit saying that they will take $60 off the credit card then refund the $60 at the end of our stay but they have taken $122 from my account & not refunded, i have emailed them several times with no reply to ask why they have taken the money out room left in perfect condition by myself & partner so still waiting for an explanation & refund !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful basic stay! Super close to northwestern and right off of the magnificent mile! I stayed here overnight after leaving the hospital for a place to lay my head and relax for a couple hours. It’s nothing fabulous but has beautiful bones and basic needs. Staff was super nice. Place was historic. Would definitely stay here again.
I expected more from a hotel on Michigan Ave, They had what I considered a late check-in time, 4 pm The room was drab, under lit. Very little in the way of furniture and decor. The carpet was stained and nowhere to sit except the bed. The walls were thin. I could actually hear the people in the next room unzip their suitcase. An argument in the room two rooms away from ours, on line it said ther had a restaurant and bar, they had neither. I was expecting a much better experience. I will not be staying here again... .
This hotel is certainly showing its age and really has nothing to recommend it. There is no bar or restaurant. Hotel seems terribly understaffed. We spent three nights here and our room was never cleaned or restocked. Our room itself was so small you had to go outside to change your mind. It’s certainly cheaper than the other places on Michigan avenue but don’t settle for this place. Nothing to recommend it.
Be ware of Craig Martin the receptionist. H'es rude towards latin people. The rooms are outdated, smell terrible even after cleaned. The hotels smells like weed all the time even when they advertise they are 100% smoke free. If you're looking to stay here DONT, even an 80 dolar a night difference is worth it to stay away. This is our 3rd night and used cups, plates and cutlery are still on the floor from one of the rooms in the aisle. Yesterday night when complaining about the room not being cleaned I was told that the hotel had only 3 people working 1) receptionist, 1) engineer, 1) security. Thank God no emergency happened. Good luck trying to get someone on the phone, impossible as they are so understaffed that the reception needs to handle everything. Don't get me started on the slowest hotel WIFI of my life. If you're a business traveler this is certainly NOT your hotel. You won't be able to have a video conf. call.…
The worst hotel ever they say it’s 4 stars but it’s 2 at best the dead bugs in the room was gross and the room itself was basically the size of a walk-in closet with two beds crammed in that smelled like mildew. Wasn’t allowed in the open ballroom on 23 floor because it was closed. Security acted like I was a threat and followed me to elevator and made sure I got on. This “hotel” feels like a motel and honestly I’d rather stay in a rotten and moldy cardboard box in an alleyway full of filth
