We stayed 2 nights as part of a road trip up the uk. (Stayed in the room called 'fold') It was probably one night too long in the end. Not much to do and no close options for dinner apart from the attached pub which was ok. The food was very unhealthy with limited choice. The bathroom was large and...

We had a good, albeit small, room (Fold) but it was fully priced. The bar was in reality a restaurant (we were there on Friday and Saturday, it may be different in the week) which makes just having a drink slightly uncomfortable unless you take it to the adjacent lounge. We ate there on Friday and found the catering 'ordinary'....

Hi, Thank you for your review. I accept the point about the limited drinking space. As the building is so small we are sadly limited. I was sad to hear you describe the food as ordinary. Whilst we do position our selves as a traditional pub serving traditional pub fayre, we ensure we source only the finest local ingredients to...

We stayed at The Devonshire arms Pilsley on Sun 9th October for 1 night, yes the room was described as a petite double and it was indeed petite ,it was comfortably furnished,it was small, the bathroom though was very cold and draughty,as the window was permanently open by about 6 inches,we attempted to shut it but it was jammed and being...

Hi, Thank you for your comments. I have had the widow repaired. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience you experienced. We have, since your visit extended the menu and have continued to focus on a varied specials board. We do have a small dedicated team who do work, on occasion, back to back shift as you mentioned. We do...

Stayed here with my mom while visiting Chatsworth. We arrived by taxi ahead of check-in time thinking they would be able to store our luggage. We were instructed to put our bags in a small side lounge while we ate lunch at the restaurant (which was a disappointment). After lunch our room still wasn't ready. We asked multiple staff if...

Called here for lunch, ordered the ploughmans for two to share, lots of cheese, ham, salad, chutney, warm bread and pie. Everything on the platter was fresh and tasty apart from the pie which let the meal down due to the pastry which tasted a little old, the pie filling however was good. The pub itself, the service, the cost and...

Stayed here for just one night as we were visiting Chatsworth. Lovely Room in the annexe with lots of nice touches. Bit disappointed with the pub / restaurant. Looks great from the outside but has been stripped out inside, full of too many modern tables and chairs to maximise the number of covers. Food good though. Main criticism was the...

Our first stay in October 2014 was in a brand new farmhouse extension, everything finished to the highest degree. Second time around showed just a few compromises (no more slippers, torn duvet cover, missing part on shower fixture... But, these last two were rapidly fixed by the excellent front of house team, Emma and Jack). The Hilltop room is beautiful,...

This is a nice little pub with modern and clean rooms in a picturesque setting. Breakfast was good and dinner ok. The staff may need a little training, unfortunately the chef is quite loud, especially when cross! A good choice though when visiting Chatsworth house.
