Really enjoyed our stop over at the black horse. Lovely Warm welcome. Room was clean and whole building was full of character. Lovely little pub with a roaring log fire. Great breakfast in the morning and also had a really quaint tea rooms which would love to visit on another occasion.

A basic room but all I needed for a stopover. Quite noisy during the evening but you have to expect that in a pub and it was very quiet after closing time. Food was excellent. TV / remote needs some attention otherwise fine.

From the outside The Black Horse is a wonderfully charming picture perfect pub. Ideally situated for visiting the neighbouring historic traditional towns and villages. Once inside you can expect to be greeted by the warmth of a real coal fire and an even warmer reception by the young lad behind the bar. It must be said the food is very... More

Have stayed here several times previously (~12-18 months ago) and had call to revisit recently. The pub has been revamped and is very clean, dirty and comfortable feeling. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. When I find myself in need of a room in the area this will be at the top of my list.

Weekend stop over as doing a ghost hunt at the Ancient Ram inn. The staff polite and helpful. Food enjoyable and reasonable priced. Had evening meal and a full english breakfast. My room clean and comfortable.

The pub itself was lovely and the food served in there looked excellent. The rooms, however, were very tired and not overly clean with a lot of dust and questionable clumps of hair that I cleaned off straight away and flushed away, The breakfast (full English) was poor quality and very greasy, it all seemed to be sourced at the... I visited the Black Horse Tea rooms yesterday with expectations of a cosy Afternoon Tea. First impressions good - lovely blazing fire, beautiful chintzy atmosphere with vintage china, white tablecloths etc but from there it went downhill rapidly. The attached menu was not offered as we were told there was only 1 kind of tea (Breakfast) and the only cake... More

A lovely old pub with friendly staff, good atmosphere and better than average pub food. Room was fine and the attached twin room made it ideal for a family with children. Area is lovely for tourists being close to Slimbridge for birds and the Cotswolds

Needed a place for the night on the way from Cornwall to the ferry on the eastern coast, and the Black Horse Inn worked out fine. Friendly and helpful service, room was big enough and in good shape, dinner at the Inn was good, breakfast as well. The building itself is of course old, leading to rather uneven corridors, which...
