Sun Siyam Iru Veli boasts an array of highly praised features, from the cleanliness and spaciousness of its rooms to the exceptional service that often includes personal touches. The serene and romantic atmosphere is enhanced by live music and cultural events, making it a favorite for special occasions. Although most guests find the all-inclusive offerings a good value, a few note extra costs. The hotel's amenities, including various dining options and snorkeling opportunities, receive top marks, as does its idyllic location with stunning beachfront views.

We stayed at Sun Siyam Iru Veli for 8 days in the run up to the recently announced Christmas lockdown of London. All in all, it was an incredible experience at a fantastic hotel. We were staying in a Dolphin Suite which I would highly recommend. There are fewer rooms than the Ocean Suites which are on the other side of the resort. It is quieter, the sea is calmer and you get sun all day on your pool, so definitely worth the upgrade. The rooms themselves are true five star with beautiful pools and a spacious and modern bathroom.

The staff were truly outstanding. One of the waiting staff mentioned they typically have 200 staff to 350 guests, and it shows. Your room will be cleaned twice daily with the evening turndown service usually involving some of kind animal made out of towels appearing on your bed. Our hostess was Mary who is incredibly thoughtful and polite. Special mention to Thail at the pool bar who worked 12 hour days and yet was always attentive, helpful and interesting to chat to.

You will have access to snorkelling equipment for the duration of your stay and a host of excursions including fishing or a Dolphin tour. We did the latter on our penultimate night and it was worth it, we saw a lot of dolphins which was quite the experience while enjoying sparkling wine and a beautiful sunset. We also had some massages in the spa which I would recommend. The spa is beautiful and the quality of the massages of the highest order, definitely worth the experience. One other thing I loved about the resort is the lack of entertainment. There is a band who plays in one of the bars and one night some bartenders did some tricks, however, this is not the centre of attention and there are plenty of areas where you can chill and have a drink instead which was our preference. Also, another big plus, most people stayed in their suites during the day so the stunning infinity pool area was always quiet, and you could always get a lounger and good service.

The food is good and varied. It is worth being realistic here, for an All Inclusive, it is definitely at the top end of what you can expect. There is something for everyone and it is truly all inclusive in as much as, you can eat as much as you want.

The only (very minor) downsides from my experience, the cocktails are fine not great but that is compensated by the wide availability of other drinks. The internet is also terrible in your room and most areas restaurants with the exception of Chemistry Bar. However, this was an excuse to not check emails. I would highly recommend.

Cait + I had our honeymoon here, after months of wedding planning, weeks of family time, final wedding prep, our big day and the long journey, arriving in the Maldives was the ultimate retreat.

Being welcomed at the airport into their private lounge with complimentary massages, taking our sea plane over and having Shiyad settle us into our over water suit was seamless. The resort looked after us so well, the staff became friends during our stay. We have travelled around the world, to some incredible places, but the treatment here was extra special. Shiyad kept us updated with our bookings and dinner reservations, and was on hand throughout our stay.

Our room was cleaned, turned over and looked after by Roshan multiple times a day, who worked at creating something new for us to look forward to each evening.

We so enjoyed our suit, waking up to the warm sea breeze, going down for a morning snorkel on the reef, and showering with a view of the coral and fish below our room. Spending the afternoons napping in the sun and swimming in our private pool with full bar fridge and room service.

The main areas of the resort were beautiful, with so many choices of where to swim, eat and have drinks. They were never full of people, so were a pleasure to enjoy.

We loved eating at the buffet (Aqua Orange), Thahmeen always made sure we were well looked after curating our dinner on the Maldivian food night (Friday's) and created a romantic final night for us. Niyshad served us so well, and would always have a laugh with us.

The Pool bar was an afternoon staple all the guys there were great, and made us some incredible cocktails. Thanks to Vijay, Sudeep, and all the others.

All the activities, the guided snorkelling, island tour, dolphin sunset cruise, jet skiing was all incredible.

We really enjoyed our honeymoon, and would to go back sometime in the future!

A visit to Iru Veli begins with the Sun Siyam lounge at the TMA terminal, which is an extra luxurious touch. When you get off the seaplane the sign on the pontoon shows someone has a sense of humour. We were met by our ambassador, the lovely Wynne who gave us a really easy check in with a glass of fizz, stayed in touch on WhatsApp throughout our stay on the arrangements she has made for meals, trips, jet ski, windsurfing lessons etc.
Our Villa was a sea view and very spacious, we both loved the shower with french doors overwater. The rooms are really well cared for with regularly refreshed toiletries, plenty of towels and Wine/Beer from the mini bar included. Many thanks to Amit for looking after us so well and the wonderful decorations he did.
The a la carte restaurants Roma and Grouper did a really good steak and excellent sea food. Thanks to Rahul, Shirley, Igor and Shammu for looking after us so well. Though it’s an extra cost the beach BBQ was an excellent meal and worth doing.
In the main buffet Janaka, Thahmeen and Abdulla were really helpful with my wife’s dietary requirements and made sure we knew what did or didn’t have dairy in, even organising alternatives.
There is a good selection of drinks across the bars/restaurants, lunch in the Fresh Water bar makes a good alternative for something lighter and a big thank you to Naderra and Anurag for keeping our glasses well topped up.
From the room there is good snorkelling on the reef especially if the wind drops so it isn’t choppy, if it is the lagoon is great alternative and full of life including small reef sharks which come round to the pier for the evening feeding. Water sports are well catered for with the guys in the centre really friendly and helpful. Thanks to Chris, Soba and Samoo in the dive team for some great dives.

Iru Veli is a fantastic resort, though during our visit pretty quiet, which was just what we wanted. It’s a beautiful island and would love to go back

From the moment my husband and I landed in Male we were taken care of. Taken to the lounge whilst we waited for the seaplane to take us to our resort, we were given fresh food and drinks and were able to relax. The next part was the seaplane, this was an amazing experience flying over the beautiful Indian Ocean, the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

From the seaplane it was a very short boat ride to the jetty where the staff were waiting and waving to us. We were taken to their lounge area and provided with cold drinks. Our Ambassador, Blandine provided us with all the information regarding the resort, restaurants, trips, water sports etc....Then we were taken to our villa, an over the water bungalow, reef side. It was amazing, beautiful, stunning! Modern design with our own pool and a beautiful view of the ocean. Blandine provided us with her telephone number and told us to message her via What's App if we need anything. Blandine made restaurant reservations and trip bookings on our behalf, we did not need to worry about doing anything, she truly made our holiday very special. The holiday was in celebration for my 50th birthday and Blandine ensured the restaurants decorated my table and made a fuss of me.

Our Room Boy Amit works so hard. He cleaned the villa and replenished our refreshments twice a day and also made a fuss for my birthday by decorating my bed and making a cake out of towels. He truly takes pride in his work and would ask everyday if we were happy with our room.

All the staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you but special mention must be made for Dilip in the Chemistry bar and Nadeera (both cheeky and funny 😊) of the Freshwater bar, they would both take time out of their day to chat and make sure we always had a drink. Anurag of the Freshwater bar made us a lovely cocktail without us even asking for one!

The resort itself is absolutely stunning, the photos do not do it justice. Whilst sitting out on my deck I saw dolphins, a stingray, baby sharks and an abundance of tropical fish. The food in every restaurant (there is three in total) is fabulous, fresh and very tasty with a variety of meals.

We were all inclusive and whilst some drinks and menus were not included these were minimal. The staff would always advise if we ordered something that was not included. Three trips and a jet ski ride were also included, all were great fun. An abundance of soft drinks, water, 6 beers and 3 bottles of wine a day were part of our all inclusive which was more than enough for us.

I cannot fault this resort at all, there is absolutely nothing I would change. My husband and I will definitely return which is a first for us as we do not like to go back to the same place twice preferring to try something new, however this place and its people are truly special and made my first experience of the Maldives one I will treasure always!

We stayed for 9 nights for our honeymoon and it was perfect. We booked a sea villa which I loved having the option for the pool and easy access into the sea. From the moment we stepped of the boat Sahey was there to welcome us. He took our bags and showed us to a table with welcome drinks. He gave us his WhatsApp number so he was on hand for the duration of our stay. There are two Al a Carte restaurants and a main buffet restaurant. We went to Roma twice and the food was delicious. Normally I dislike the main buffet when I have stayed in other all inclusive hotels however this was different. There was so much variety (I am a fussy vegetarian) and served to a high standard. We did try a lot of the dishes but kept going back for the amazing curries that were different every night. Hasiru in housekeeping made sure our room was spotless twice a day and we were supplied with plenty of towels normally in the shape of a different animal each day which was fun. On one particular night we came back to a filled bath with rose petals in the shape of a heart, HAPPY HONEYMOON spelt out in vines on the bed and a little cake. What really made our trip though was the relationship we had with Mannu, Anurag, Thail and Ajay in the aqua/shisha bar. We spent our lunchtime and most of our evenings there due to the peaceful atmosphere as we enjoyed chatting with them each day. We were able to borrow snorkels and flippers for the duration of the stay which enabled me to swim up to the reefs and look at the fish. We felt very safe here and would have stayed longer if we could. Given the global pandemic the resort felt clean, staff wore masks and there was plenty of hand sanitiser stations and disposable masks around. Thank you for making our honeymoon so memorable. Maanu we really enjoyed and learnt a lot from our conversations. Jacqueline and Steve Crosby - room 624.

My wife and I recently returned from a lovely 7 night stay at Sun Siyam Iru Veli. Access to the resort is reached via a 40 min seaplane ride from Malé international airport followed by a short 5 min speedboat ride. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sound of beating drums and banner waving by the resort staff. “Welcome home” were the first words I heard uttered by the staff went we set foot on the dock and “home” is what Sun Siyam Iru Veli proceeded to feel like for us for the following 7 days.

We were introduced to Mary, our ambassador, who was responsible for scheduling excursions and making reservations at restaurants on our behalf. At the same time we met another couple who we would later befriend during our stay that also had Mary as their ambassador. We later found out through them that we had bit of a discrepancy in regards to attentiveness and customer service from Mary that they received and we did not. Although minor to us, it may be a cause for concern for those shelling out a lot of money at a resort that prides itself in its 5 star experience. So what we later learned from the couple was on our day of arrival, after being escorted to our bungalows, Mary had met with them in their room to map out their itinerary for the week. We did not receive such personalized service. In fact, I constantly found myself texting Mary through WhatsApp to figure out which and when our excursions would take place. Also, I didn’t realize it at the time but after Mary escorted us to our bungalow, I realized afterward that we were in a sunrise bungalow when I had explicitly made a sunset bungalow one of my key room requests. By the time I had realized this however, we were all settled in and didn’t want to go through the inconvenience of relocating to another bungalow.

Those were our main, albeit minor, grievances during our stay. Now on to the positive notes.

The resort is relatively brand new. Built in 2018, and barely broken in given they took last year off due to COVID. The grounds are beautifully manicured and I constantly found myself in awe of the natural beauty of the island. The turquoise blue waters and soft powder sand were recharging to our souls. Second only to the idyllic scenery of the island were the friendliness of the staff. Everywhere we went we were being greeted with genuine smiling faces. Specific shoutout to Roma and Shan at Chemistry, Dillap at Aqua Orange, and Nizam who would turnover our room every day.

Considering the minor hiccups, I would rate our stay 4.5 stars if I could but since I cannot I’ve rounded up to the full 5 stars. Our week at Sun Siyam Iru Veli flew by in the blink of an eye and both admitted we should have stayed longer and lamented the moment we had to leave. We would totally return to this island paradise and its friendly staff and look forward to that moment in the future when we can finally return “home.”

We travelled on the 16th March and should of stayed for 11 nights, but managed to get 7. Without distracting from this report at the time of travel we were left with a go or loose it all decision and things changed whilst we were in mid air.
We arrived at an empty Male airport and was taken across to the lounge, told we had a 3 hour wait, but after about 2 hours they came and got us to transfer to the sea plane terminal. We arrived at Iru Veli with about 6 others and was met off of the plane by our ambassador ( can’t remember her name), taken for a drink and given a quick map tour and shown to our room. We opted for a beach room as first timers we were unsure about getting into the water up and down steps from an over water villa. Our room was great, very clean, indoor and outdoor shower, large bed over looking double doors to warm pool and beach. The room had an extensive included mini bar topped up daily.
We unpacked and went for a swim and beer in the infinity pool and beach bar. A booking was made for us in Roma so we had a nice steak here the first night. During our 7 nights we also had meals in the buffet and Grouper. The AI menu is ok in the resturants, with 4/5 different choices, this is ok with the buffet for 7 nights but if we had stayed the full 11, we may have struggled a bit. I would not recommend stepping off of the AI menu, the other items for a high extra cost just seemed to be a re-working of the AL menu. We had lunch everyday at the beach bar restaurant and did not use the buffet for lunch as this had a good selection of snacks and meals. Due to C19 we had to leave early on a different flight, during this time staff were being laid off and resturants were only open on a rotation basis, we arrived with about 30 guests present and by the time we left there was only 6 or so.
Despite the hardship that the staff were going through generally all were great and remained helpful until the end, we have been offered free nights on a future booking for our lost nights so I hope they agree to this when we book again.
I would have liked to give the island 5 stars, but in the situation we found ourselves in, I cannot. If the resort is full there may be problems getting around the pools, served at bars or tables for dining, I know if full they would have more staff working, so this may help.

During our stay staff were being laid off and both our original ambassador and replacement were both stood down as were members of waiting and bar staff, we understood as we left only the gardeners and maintenance staff were being kept on, some had horrible journeys to get home with the prospect of quarrentine.

We had a lovely week, great weather, most staff were ok in a difficult situation, food and drink plentiful. We would love to go back under normal circumstances and sure that if everything is in place, we can give it 5 stars. We had nothing really to complain about, just the circumstances we found ourselves in.

We spent 3 amazing weeks at the Sun Siyam Iru Veli resort over Feb and March and could not have been happier with our choice - the pictures are great, but the Reality is even better!

Starting with the Seaplane journey to and From Mahe, wow, that was a new experience for us, and something very hard to replicate anywhere on the planet, and what a lovely welcome from Mr Rajat and his team upon arrival to the island.

The Accommodations are modern and exceptionally clean, we spent time in both the beach and overwater villas, and was hard to choose which one we preferred, with both offering a different experience. We stayed in the Sunset side for the beach villa & Sunrise for the Overwater Villa - i recommend this combination!.
The restaurants served excellent food, with a good choice for all pallets, we especially liked ‘Roma’ for the location over the water. The house reef offers a very useable snorkelling experience, where you will see a lot of diverse marine life up close, and the lagoon offering a very tranquil place to swim. We used the Spa which is a fabulous experience with the SPA rooms built over the reef, with no end of fish gliding underneath the windowed floor as u receive your treatment. We also used the freshwater pools daily, in what offers a nice alternative from the lagoon and reef and the waiter service at the pool area was excellent.

As for the staff! A resort cannot earn a great reputation without its staff, and the entire team at Iru Veli were friendly & welcoming & without doubt helped to make the trip what it was. Some special mentions go out to Janaka the head of F&B who does an amazing job day in day out in overseeing the happiness of all the guests, Siraj, our ambassador who was very attentive and organised every detail for us via the very efficient WhatsApp arrangement. To the waiter team, and in particular, Rishi who served us at lunch/dinner and was super attentive & friendly to chat to, Mannu who regaled us with stories and facts about the Maldives, Waheed who served us at breakfast with a friendly smiling nature every morning & Thail, Niyam, Auf, Ivan, Farish & Ravi who were all great - apologies to anyone not mentioned. Our rooms were kept immaculately clean by MD Sohel & Shaffran and both were very sensitive around timing of room cleaning.
Finally a thank you to the General Managers’s Mr Rajat & Dennis, who from the moment the sea plane arrives to the final departure, were welcoming, friendly and very visible on the island in both working with their teams to their interaction with the guests, it makes all the difference!.

We had an amazing time here, were very sad to leave, but we are already planning to return to this wonderfully friendly island.

My husband and I travelled to Sun Aqua Iru Veli for 11nights for our honeymoon. From landing in Male airport we were taken excellent care of from the arrivals lounge waiting for the sea plane departure to arriving on this island.

We chose this hotel as every single room as its own private pool and gorgeous bathroom. We were met by Charls our rep who was friendly and helpful and booked all of our dinner reservations when we requested them via WhatsApp.

The hotel was spotlessly clean both in your room and public areas. All of the staff are so friendly and all say hello when passing by.

Our room was cleaned every day twice a day by our fantastic housekeeper Mizan. Mizan was so polite and friendly and decorated our bed on an evening with beautiful flowers and towel art. The mini bar is also replenished daily and Mizan would ask if there was anything we needed every day.

The food was delicious and you could have just about any drink you wanted. Our favourite spot was the Fresh Water bar on an evening for sunset. The staff at the bar were all so friendly and would happily chat to you and would come over to refill your drink once they could see you were nearly finished. Anurag, Sundeep and Nadeera all work at Fresh Water and are all great fun and good to talk to. Even after some of them were told by the government they could not return home as planned (some have not been home for a year) due to the coronavirus and they were still happy and friendly. Fresh water also serves lunch and you have some delicious options available.

At Aqua Orange the buffet restaurant you will meet Maanu. He knew we were on our honeymoon and so set us up a table on the beach one evening so we could enjoy our dinner under the stars. He was so friendly and told us a lot about Maldivian history which was extremely interesting. He used to be a tour guide and therefore is extremely knowledgeable and loves to tell yous stories. Lovely guy. Breakfast is also at Aqua Orange and the choice is wide abs varied. You can get a tasty omelette from the egg station and all of the waiting staff and chefs there are so friendly.

Roma was our favourite restaurant for evening dinner. Set over the water the food was fantastic. The staff are all again so friendly and helpful and we dined there 5 times in 11 nights! It really was made so enjoyable by Igor, Rahul and Ajay who looked after us everytime we went and in the end knew our order off by heart.

Another great restaurant is groupa grill again set on the beach. All of the food is delicious and again the staff are all very attentive. Mainly serving seafood you will get a true maldivian experience.

All in all an the best holiday of our lives and one we wont forget. All made more special by the amazing people on the island. Hopefully we will return one day!

This place is absolutely amazing. From the minute you arrive you are greeted on the dock by the management and staff welcoming you to this beautiful resort. We were greeted and shown to the lobby by our ambassador Shimaau who was friendly, welcoming and truly knowledgeable about the region. Shimaau was available throughout our stay for anything we needed just a whatsapp away, nothing too much trouble. As they say first impressions last and the first impression at Iru Veli was honestly what we experienced throughout our stay. The setting is absolutely beautiful, we had a pool villa over water which was modern, beautifully designed and with almost a private aquarium in the see over looking the end of our pool with tropical fish, manta rays swimming by all day. The suite itself is stunning. The bathroom has sea views below from the shower and washroom with more marine life than we could imagine. The floating breakfast is something that has be experienced at least once while you stay. It's special! Our cleaner Mithu presented our room each day so beautifully with decorations on our bed and flowers in the room. He truly made our stay special and we are so thankful for his efforts. My wife enjoyed the spa on several occasions during our stay and walked away with very special friends in Dini and Risna which is quite a unique experience we have found. A very professionally run spa with very talented therapists my wife was wrapped. The food in the buffet was really good for breakfast lunch and dinner and the pastry chef/baker June needs a promotion in my opinion. These are the best bread and pastry selection we have ever experienced in a resort of this kind anywhere. The a la carte options in Roma and Grouper grill we found underwhelming so we stuck to the buffet after our first try of each.. The theme nights in the buffet were great and captured a well rounded take on multi national cuisines. The staff at all restaurants we encountered to be warm welcoming and friendly. Everyone remembers your name and greets you on arrival which is a really personal touch which we appreciated. This is the best holiday we have had by a mile and we can't wait to return to this beautiful island.

I stayed in all! The beach villa, Sunrise and the sunset! In terms of quietness, beach and the Sunset side would be the best! Because on the sunrise side, they’ve got the restaurant so it gets busy. But they’ve got the two executive villas on the sunrise side which are made further apart from the rest of the villas. If you can get one of those, they’ll be nice and quite The beach villa we stayed was on the sunrise side too! For snorkelling, I’d recommend the sunset side! And of course the snorkelling excursion! You’ll see nurse sharks and turtles which are the highlights
