Niyama well and truly takes you back to a simpler time; the same way I used to roam around freely, like a free range chicken, on the streets, as a young kid - before mobile phones, dangers around every corner, etc -- Niyama makes it possible for you to not only live out your inner child, but it equips you to forget about EVERYTHING in your world and live well and truly freely - your every "concern" is looked after at all times by this excellent staff.

The AMAZING bits about Niyama:
1. Free range livin' - unlike other "small" islands where one can walk around it in a mere ten minutes at a leisurely pace, the island spans ~2km's from end to end - enough to keep it interesting for longer stays (such as ours), to provide you with endless possibilities of activities (and I mean that - from flying water boots, to stand up paddleboard yoga, to underwater dining) for your stay - the island boasts just enough size so that "island fever" cannot set in but it isn't HUGE in any way shape or form - you are not competing with fellow guests for space and activities are plentiful. Best yet, you will be issued with bicycles clad with your own nametag for the duration of your stay - live it up like a free range chicken is my advice!

2. Every detail has been thought about - I have travelled to 95 countries in my life. I have stayed in hundreds of not thousands of hotels. I have never been able to walk away from a place, as I was able to at Niyama, without any major concerns or remarks / areas for improvement - I can honestly say that about Niyama. Whether it's setting up your beach chairs outside, or bringing you fresh coconut or fresh fruits, surprising you with a delight, random event invites, the most decadent of food options for every diet / palate, dreamy alcoholic concoctions - they have thought about it all and you literally have ZERO to worry about during your stay. What's more amazing is that they will not "hit you" with silly charges like a Park Hyatt or Four Seasons would (i.e., if ordering "sparkling" water instead of "normal" water - Niyama is in it for the long game and genuinely wants to keep you happy first and foremost - they will not let a $10 windfall for something as silly as a bottle of sparkling water 'annoy you' during your stay for having to go out of your way to sign for it); and,

3. The people - If you prefer the "stuffy" service by a place like Raffles, Four Seasons or St Regis where no emotion is shown at any time by any of the staff and the only way you're known by is "Sir" or "Madame", then Niyama is NOT for you. Think of Niyama as a neighbourhood place where the staff are encouraged to be genuine and true to themselves (and consequently the guests). During our multi week stay, we can honestly say the excellent staff made a TRUE difference in the quality of our stay. It's now been a few weeks since we were there, and my daughter, a nine year old, cannot stop talking about Niyama's true rock stars - it's people - a big shout out to YouKay (The world's best Thakaru), Najjee (the Activity Centre's only THIRD or perhaps fourth or fifth best ping pong player, but still a top bloke), Imran, the self professed "Coconut Man" of the Island and the man who keeps it all running on time! The people are genuinely amazing individuals who are masters at their craft. The service is unbelievable and what an amazing operation Haf and the rest of the management team have put together

The NOT so good bits - I have literally VERY limited negatives to share. Whilst I have nothing but positives to say about the rooms themselves, some rooms are starting to show their age. This is understood to be remedied via a full refresh of the villas onsite, taking place throughout 2024. Lastly, the only other recommendation I would have is for a full time "sushi & sashimi bar" to be opened - the local fish is incredible (as is the imported Japanese tuna...) and I would have thought a deli-like casual eatery serving sushi - perhaps even poolside - might be worth considering!

In essence, I Am truly able to give Niyama an emphatic two thumbs up. They're not just "Top 1%", they're my all time #1 - a rare mix of beauty, food, service, and that "X-factor" (which here I have come to call the "free range chicken" vibe of the islands). We have already rebooked a second visit and look forward to returning!

We will be coming back. The islands, the resort, the rooms, the waters and beach were just perfect and everything we could ask for in our Honeymoon. Niyama made everything we heard, believed and hoped for of the Maldives true!

But the people who work at the resort are what make the difference. Excellent service and true genuine kindness. Our butler Hemayet did everything he could to make our experience the best. We hope to have him as our butler whenever we return. Waiters such as Naseeh were great and personable. The hostesses were also very personable and made us feel at home. I also highly appreciate and truly value the cleaners and landscapers; from the people cleaning our rooms, to the landscapers raking pathways and entry ways to our villas, the ones who clean the beaches early in the morning and everyone else that takes part in making the scenery breathtaking. They deserve much more credit from guests and I truly hope they are well taken care of by Niyama Maldives.

In addition, the Spa was great! Great environment for a Spa. The therapists are really high quality and excellent in what they do and prices are comparable to spas in the USA such as Red Door Spa.

My wife and I don’t usually do all inclusive resorts, mainly because we’re vegan and the food service does not generally cater to us. We discovered Niyama private island when searching YouTube for vegan friendly resorts. It all looked so exclusive and it appeared that the vegan options were not only plentiful but inventive and delicious. We spent 7 days at Niyama in March and found that the resort exceeded our expectations. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, well maintained and really has the feeling of a “private island.” We were assigned a Thakura (butler) upon arrival who gave us a tour, explaining the restaurants and activity options and worked with us to plan our days, make reservations, etc. Our thakura, Ksenia, made us feel so special and welcomed. She went out of the way to also ensure that the chefs at the restaurants knew we were vegan and offered us suitable and delicious dishes. We celebrated our anniversary with a candlelit sunset 5 course dinner which was curated to our desires and executed by Michelin star chefs. Our activities included Snorkeling, kayaking, dolphin chasing, massages, darts, pool, foosball, themed restaurants including an under water restaurant, Subsix, with windows showing the amazing coral and marine life. We also saw many families with young children. There is really something for everyone. We would bike around the island to the various shops, and boutique bars and specialty outlets. We even enjoyed a complimentary photo shoot. We began our stay in an ocean villa with a stunning view of the surrounding lagoon and ocean beyond. We moved to a beach villa halfway through, primarily for the direct beach access for swimming and snorkeling (note however that if you are a light sleeper the jungle birds may wake you up early in the beach villa). Both the ocean villa and beach villa were spacious and well appointed. Our thakura supplied us with all the coconut vegan sorbet we could eat to put in the in-room refrigerator! All in all it was an unforgettable experience. We hope to return soon, but there is a steep price tag. However, we believe that the value is there. Everything feels very exclusive. We’ve never felt more pampered. The only criticism we had was that the app often didn’t work well. It was best to coordinate everything with the thakura and not rely on the online reservation system in the app.

To paraphrase the old Stella advertisement, if you want the best you tend to have to pay a little more. Niyama impresses much with a wide variety of activites in the day, and resturants at night. For coubles, you will find it a blessing that there is "Explorers" kids club so youngsters are kept away and quiet for most of the day. You still have to suffer the odd screaming imfant over breakfast (or dinner if you chose the main resturants, but you can avoid them by chosing one of the a la carte options).

Too many resturants to mention, and we tried most (if not all) of them, but our favourite has to be Nest. Situated up in the trees and presented with a mainly far-east asian menu this is the best resturant we found; better even than the signature Edge resturant which is a short boat-taxi trip from the jetty, cannot be reached by foot, and is very exclusine.

There is very little wrong with Niyama, and what niggles there may be are not worth mentioning as all staff we met made teh whole hiliday enjoyable. NOTHING to complain about here. . . expect maybe teh time it takes to travel to get here from the UK. . . Not a trip for the faint hearted but the destination is worth it.

I hope you like hot sunny weather, as that is all you get !!

No longer just for couples and honeymooners. Niyama is for everyone! Whether you are looking to Chill or Play 😉
Families with under 12’s have access to the best kids club I’ve seen anywhere. Teenagers will not be bored with their own games rooms and water sports to keep them fully entertained.
While couples and honeymooners can still enjoy their privacy.
A variety of restaurants caters to everyone’s tastes. While a half board package allows you to enjoy a divine buffet breakfast at Epicure and a range of themed dinners in the evening, you can still head off to one of the other amazing restaurants on the islands connected by a small bridge.
With the bluest water, the whitest sand and the brightest sun, we fell in love with Niyama the moment our seaplane landed. For anyone who lives a busy life and needs a break and to stop - this is the place! We’ll be back 💛
Special mention to all the amazing staff especially Teddy, Melanie, Roxy, Paulina. Thank you for making our stay so special 🙏🌟💖

We had a lovely stay at Niyama. When we arrived, the resort manager, Andrea, greeted us warmly, and then our Butler, Wisham, took us to our room and showed us around the island. The resort manager was a very friendly person and you would see him around the island looking after his guests.
Our Butler Wisham was also amazing, he was there for us all the time whenever we needed his assistance, whether it was a buggy ride, reserving at a restaurant, or looking after our room. And he got along with our kids quiet well. A special thanks to Wisham for being an amazing person!

The island was extremely pretty and beautiful, very lush and green, and the paths were beautifully decorated and lightened. It truly felt like heaven. We enjoyed biking daily from one tip to the other tip of the island.

Our room was super! We had such an amazing open air bathroom, and it was so blissful to take a shower in the open air environment! We had ice cream replenished daily and popcorn for the kids.

Our favorite restaurant was Nest. It was extremely pretty nestled in the middle of the jungle, and it made you feel that you are really in a jungle! And the food was superb.

The food at the other restaurants were average or good at best. We had dinner at Edge, but were unhappy with the food selection. The buffet restaurants (Epicure and Blu) were good, and at one night we had the Middle Eastern buffet which was nice.
We wished we dined at the Tribal restaurant, but due to our limited nights we couldn’t, the restaurant looked amazing.

I do have a commend on the restaurants though, I feel the items are overpriced and the $50 credit voucher per person is seriously not enough; it would not even cover the Main course. I would suggest the management to do as what most resorts do: A 3-course meal.
Also, I think complimentary water should also be provided in the restaurants.

Other than that, the resort is extremely beautiful, and each section of the Play and Chill has a different vibe; at one place you get that tropical vibe, and other spots forest and jungle vibe, and also there is a small secret beach at the tip of Chill island.

Overall highly recommended resort!

I stayed here in March. The best thing about the resort was the kids club. One of the best kids clubs I’ve seen in the Maldives. Our breakfast waiter was also very nice. I was not very happy with our butler (Shamak). He was fairly new and seemed disconnected. We would ask over and over for things and they would just not happen or take a few days. We had to live with one room key for several days, I would ask for the room to be cleaned in time for my child to nap and every day they would come so late. The cleaning was very basic and they can do a much better. There was always stains left, the counters would remain sticky, the glass never wiped. The price of the underwater restaurant was ridiculously outrageous. I’ve dined in the some of the world finest restaurants and never seen something like this (especially for what you get for it). All and all I would come back here for the kids club but I would ask In advance for a great a butler and speak to management when the cleanliness is not up to standards.

Simply amazing resort.
Arriving by Sea Plane gives you an aerial view of this paradise.
The resort is of a very high standard, the best bots are.....
The cycles you are assigned to your entire stay, they are named and as it's so flat it's easy to get around, brilliant.
The absolute lack of mosquitoes and flies, it really makes for an amazing bite free stay and being out as dusk without fear of being bitten is a god send.
The food is amazing, my favourite was Nest, where you dine in the tree tops.
The staff are so helpful (as you would expect) and the use of whatsapp to contact your Thakuru works very well.
This resort is not cheap, a bottle of beer is £10 and a house bottle of red wine is £70, but this is to be expected at most luxury resorts in the Maldives.
This resort really is quiet, you are never disturbed, everyone is discreet and you always feel like you are the only people on the island when tucked away in your Villa.
Superb

We had an exceptional experience our friends and I we went 2 couples with 5 kids, it was our first time but for our friends it was their third time and we all agreed that Niyama Exceeded the expectations.
the hotel location is 50 mins by seaplane from male airport, and it has 2 islands where u move from one to the other with many options for restaurants.
From the moment you step out of the sea plane you are captivated with the warm welcoming atmosphere.
the check in process was extremely smooth, efficient, and accommodating all our needs and even better.

We took the water pool villas our first time experience, our friends a beach villa, all I can say are immaculate, fresh, and spotless, but I would recommend with kids staying at the beach villa is easier .all rooms have stunning views. each room had a private concierge service accommodating every need and request. we had Yulia and Devron and they were outstanding!!

There are mainly 2 main pools at epicure where we spent most of our time, and blu for mainly more adults didn't like it much.Noting each villa has its own pool .

They have a huge kids club where kids have a program everyday from board surfing to scuba to dancing, mocktail making and much more, and they pick up and can drop off the kids to ur room or where ever they are allowing the parents to relax. The only thing we wish if they had a waterpark that would complete the stay!

They have water activities, that we ended up doing water ski, banana, kayaking and much more. kayaking is for free but everything else is paid. it is expensive I must say, I think prices shall be more adjustable so people can do more of it during their stay. but I also have to point out how safe they took their measurements also.

The food was very good, they have multiple restaurants from meat, to Japanese, to buffets, they even have an underwater restaurant must see! the alacarte menus are way yummier then buffets , we had at blue asian buffet wasn't great but the seafood was very good. We had a private dinner teppanyaki at nest it was great , and tribe also the meat was very good , and mostly all our lunches were at epicure, the pizzas are very good, also u can order from the dine in menu to epicure, like Ceasar salad nicoise and much more I personally don't know why they don't have it on the actual menu.
The breakfast buffet was very rich from eggs, pancakes, salads , sushi , and much more.

We setup a private movie night for the kids by the beach also where u can choose from a list of movies, and it was memorable and beautiful.

Overall we had an excellent 5 night stay at Niyama, our kids didn't want to leave so did we. It was relaxing and comfortable. We surely will come back , Yulia and Devron thank you for making our stay so memorable and easy and helping in everyday. 5 star service!!!

We just returned from our third visit to Niyama and once again our trip was sublime. The resort itself is impeccably maintained, everything from the grounds, the restaurant areas, the spa, the beaches, the boats for excursions and the incredible rooms. The entire resort is perfection with incredible attention to detail which on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean is an incredible feat and credit to not only the team of gardeners, cleaning staff, maintenance people but also the incredible hotel management (Hof and the newest edition Pierre). The food and restaurants are the highest quality and no matter how small or big a request it is always met with ease. The wait staff, the hosts and chefs are top notch and the entire operation is run with aplomb by the head of F & B, Steven who with his incredible kind and positive demeanor carries off this operation with seaming ease! The butler staff is a dream and we were lucky to have Wisham take care of us who could not have gone out of his way anymore to make our experience something that we never thought was possible. He met every need and even ones we did not know we had but when we experienced them we were overwhelmed with the blissful feeling a vacation at Niyama can give you. We would like to mention everyone in this review from Jenny at the surf shack, big boss Dan at the surf and dive center, Saleem, Asso, Melanie at the front office, the coconut man, May at the spa, the bike center man and Nate who headed the Album surf trip up... we cannot say enough. If you are thinking of the Maldives this is the place that dreams are made...

You can but shouldn't, it's relatively shallow and you have coral on the sea floor. You have stairs that lead you to the lagoon.
