Me and my boyfriend were given an "itison" voucher for an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast and a bottle of prosecco. The hotel itself is stunning, like something from a Canadian ski resort, so warm and comforting, beautifully decorated and very warming atmosphere. The room was a standard room but probably one of the best rooms I've been... More

The staff were very helpful and professional the room was clean and very pleasant - the breakfast was very nice. All in all a very pleasant stay - we checked in early and the staff arranged this for us at no extra charge which was very thoughtful of them.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to write a review and giving us four stars on your recent stay. I am sorry you found your dining experience just average. Bought a voucher from "it is on" for an overnight stay with dinner & prosecco. Brilliant deal, would've paid more once we saw how plush the hotel was. The prosecco was in te room chilling on arrival. Dinner choice small but good & food was tasty. Room was big with comfy bed, nice pillows and a huge tv. Bathroom massive... More

We went to the Dumfries Arms for a wedding celebration and were pleasantly surprise by the interior of the hotel as the exterior looks drab and uninteresting. The rooms are clean and tidy if not a little tired (broken wardrobe doors and marked furniture) and the beds are comfortable with lovely duvets. The wedding was well done and quite lovely... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fully renovated in 2011 the Dumfries Arms is a contemporary, stylish boutique Hotel with 26 stunning guest rooms, stylish restaurant and function facilities that ensure its place as one of Ayrshire's largest and most stunning wedding and events venues. Rich in history, The Dumfries Arms Hotel has stood at the heart of the ancient burgh of Cumnock, Ayrshire since the early 18th century and even predates nearby Dumfries House, saved for the nation by HRH The Prince of Wales and now one of the nation's most stunning heritage attractions. Over its 300 year history the hotel's guests have included some colourful and well known characters including our national bard, Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott, who made reference to his stay in Old Cumnock..."Where beds are as hard as a plank, sir". Much has changed since! However, as an important part of our heritage, due homage has been accorded with these historic words being embroidered on soft furnishings within our guest rooms. We should add that our beds are magnificently comfortable! We look forward to welcoming you to one of Scotland's newest, privately owned boutique hotels whether as a resident, diner, or to view our stunning function facilities if you are planning a very special event. A warm welcome is guaranteed. ... more   less
