Bamboozi is a bit of walk from town, but walking along the beach is safe and easy so don't let it put you off. They have a variety of accommodation choices, and we stayed in a double thatched hut which was cheaper than the dorms at Fatima's. The only complaint I have about the huts are that they are very...

Beautiful location within a Coconut Grove, pitch your tent were you like, Dorms looked alright, Men and Female sharing showers and Toilets were absolutely OK and never a problem with hot water or hygiene. It is a 15-20 min walk on the Beach to Tofo, remember when you leave you will get a free transfer to the Chapa station. The...

The lodge is 1.5 km out if town but on a quiet and beautiful beach. Restaurant overlooking the coast and dive center are great. Campsite is spacious and has 2 kitchens.

After investigating all the budget options Bamboozi was the clear winner. It was the least expensive and the dorm was spacious and clean. The staff were also very friendly and the food was great. It might be a bit of a walk from town, but who doesn't like a stroll down a powder-white beach? :-)

The lodge is located in Tofo, at the end of the beach. The location was the main drawback for us; you have to walk about 10 min along the beach to get to the other hotels/lodges or bars and town centre (in the evening the beach is completely dark, so don't forget to bring a torch!). Bamboozi has a bar/restaurant...

This is part camp site, part pretty good A-Frames on the landward side of the dunes, part a small number of wonderful cabins on the top of the dunes - with wooden decks gazing out to sea - and part perhaps the best beach restaurant and terrace anywhere on earth! Wonderful beach, wild and full of terns in May. This...

According to the CIA world factbook, the average Mozambican makes about $1000 per year, so you would expect a lodge charging 1/12 of that per night (US$80) in low season for a chalet to be somewhat decent. This is not the case. We came to Bamboozi after a recommendation from a friend who had stayed there many years ago and...

We were part of a group of 16 family and friends who stayed at Bamboozi over Christmas 2010. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Yes the electricity does sometimes go out unexpectedly, and there may sometimes not be enough hot water for 6 people to shower, but this is Mozambique - not 1st world London, thank goodness. If they don't...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bamboozi Beach Lodge is hidden in the center of a coconut grove next to a stretch of a untouched beach and surrounded by rural villages; this eco-friendly backpackers/beach lodge is built entirely from natural materials. Endless summer days can be spent in the cool Indian Ocean. When it is time to take a sun or sea break lay claim to a hammock and just relax. Bamboozi Beach Lodge style nights include untamed parties, but those who would rather sit on a balcony and watch the moonrise while counting fireflies and shooting stars, can do just that. Bamboozi Beach Lodge provides mozzie nets and linen. Camping amongst palms, a guest kitchen, braai areas and hot water showers. RESTAURANT & BAR. The Bamboozi Restaurant & Bar is situated on top of the dunes with spectacular views of the ocean and coastline. The Restaurant opens for breakfast and closes when the last guest leaves the Bar. There is an a-la-carte menu offering an array of dishes from fresh seafood platters made on request and delectable deserts. Daily specials are served! Enjoy a cold beer or a cocktail on the deck while watching beginner surfers finding their balance! It is also a great whale watching spot during August & September. Bamboozi has his own on site PADI dive resort center run by professional staff of Liquid Adventures Diving, offering snorkel safaris (dive with the largest fish in the ocean; the whaleshark), fundives with full rental of equipment and courses of all levels available. Our area is fast becoming famous for the resident Mantas, Whale sharks, Dolphins, Turtles and Humpback whales. LIVE THE DREAM!! ... more   less
