Dropped by after walking in the nearby Grizedale Forest. Lovely warm country pub and welcoming atmosphere. We chose some fairly basic choices from the lunch menu, fish and chips and chicken sandwiches but food was brilliant and the fish was probably some of the best battered fish I have ever had, it was very fresh and the batter nice and...

I can't comment on the hotel side of the business as I've only eaten here. I was in the lake district with 4 friends (and 2 dogs) for a week, and we ate here 3 nights, simply because it was so good. I don't think we had a bad meal between us, and the real-ale was excellent. In terms of...

We stayed for 2 nights Sunday-Tuesday. Were greeted by a very friendly member of staff. Room was lovely and spacious. Bed was super comfy. We ate on the first night and the food was amazing so we decided to eat there again the 2nd night. Breakfast were amazing too. All the staff were friendly and made our stay that little...

This was our second stay at the Cuckoo Brow and lived up to our expectations after our first visit. The welcome and service was friendly and our room was very clean and warm, with a lovely big comfortable bed and an immaculate bathroom. Breakfasts are a highlight with a couple of different choices as well as the usual ones. I...

We have been visiting the Lakes for decades and have passed this establishment on many occasions without popping in. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised! Our room was very clean and the king sized bed was ridiculously comfortable. Dinner and drinks were excellent, as was the service we received throughout the evening. I can thoroughly recommend the...

We have just got back from our overnight stay at the Cuckoo Brow Inn. We had a warm welcome from all staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed with our 4 month old baby who was being a bit of a monkey during our meals and the staff were brilliant. Offering toys and even to push her round...

Our experience was nothing short of dreadful. There was no friendly welcome. The bolt on our Family room door didn't work and we we told it was disabled due to Dogs unlocking them in the night. Really ! There was chewing gum stuck to the lamp shade next to the bed. The WIFI didn't work in the area of building...

We are very disappointed in TripAdvisor for publishing this review. This review is a false review and has been written in retaliation against us for not refunding this guest his money - as the guest threatened he would do. The story is a simple one, the guest booked a room in August, arrived in October and had not bothered to...

We enjoyed a three night stay, very friendly staff and the food was good (although the desserts were a little disappointing - jam roly poly should have some jam in!). The room was fine, and the huge bed very comfortable. The room was a bit on the small side and there was nowhere to sit other than on the bed...

Pleasantly surprised by this lovely inn. Booked it rather blindly from Internet photos. Main criteria was hiking trails and Betrix Potter house/museum accessibility. Met every expectation and then some. Wow.....as a foodie, I honestly didn't expect much from typical British inn fare, but the restaurant was VERY good. Lamb burger to die for, steak perfectly cooked to picky American standards,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of the quiet village of the Far Sawrey, just a 3/4 mile pleasant stroll to the National Trust home of Beatrix Potter, our Lake District Inn welcomes you to come and sit by the fire. Situated at the top of the hill in between Lake Windermere and Hawkshead Village, surrounded by beautiful scenery, popular walking and cycling trails and of course the countryside which Beatrix Potter drew her inspiration from. We are a classic, yet contemporary Lake District Bed & Breakfast, which has recently been renovated and lovingly restored to its former glory. We now have 14 beautiful en-suite bedrooms, which are a selection of superking size, family and twin rooms, all rooms have power showers, 32" flat screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities and everything you would want from Lake District B&B. We are passionate about the Lakes, and strive to produce a local, sourcing as much produce as possible from the from the bountiful area in which we sit, be that the Real Ales, the game for our Huntsmans Hot Pot or the sausages for our Cumbrian Breakfast which of course no true Lake District B&B would be without. We would like to welcome all to our little Inn, which offers dog friendly accommodation for those wishing to bring their dog away for a holiday in the Lakes. Whether you are popping in for a pint or coming to stay in the Lake District Bed & Breakfast, our doors are open and our fires are on. Food is served all day, 12 noon to 3pm, 5pm until 9pm. ... more   less
