The Makeda Lounge and Restaurant opens up to the best Vantage Point of the old city and is definitely worth a visit. The food is very average but probably eatable to western tourists but local standards. I enjoyed a lunch out in the lawn with birds chirping and a good view but probably that's the limit of my stay.

Said to be the 'best located hotel' in our guide book, it is certainly close to the field of stellae and the churches. Although an old hotel, once owned by the government, it is now in private hands. We came here for supper and its entrance of natural stone and wood certainly seemed more appealing than some. But the rooms...

Again, don't listen to Lonely Planet, who said it "was the best place to stay." The hotel was built 55 years ago and has seen better days. It does have a great view of the town of Aksum and right next to the steles and Queen of Sheba's swimming pool. When I checked in around noon, I was the only...

We traveled the north of Ethiopia in December and stayed in the Yeha hotel for two nights. When approaching the hotel, the first thing you notice is the magnificent location with a view on the beautiful stelae and church. However after entering, the interior immediately reminds you that this place has seen its best days some time ago. The room...

We emerged from our stay flea bitten and short of cash which the staff had taken from our bags. The hotel is in poor condition, dirty and over-priced. Better to visit the terrace for a beer to view the town than actually stay there. Nothing seems to work, including the card machines, hence the cash ...

Yeha Hotel could be a gem. The location is unique, the architecture is nice, the bar and the terrace are very pleasant. All this makes Yeha a pleasant place. But unfortunately, it needs a serious refurbishment. The rooms and bathrooms are barely acceptable. Food is simply bad compared to delicious options in town. Sad.... but it remains an option by...

The rooms were average to poor, so were a great disappointment, but there is not much choice in the town. However, the view from the hotel terrace overlooking the Axum site is fantastic, so this makes up for the actual hotel facilities.

Another 1970's standard hotel, but fitted out and run to a better standard than many in Ethiopia. Accommodation - good rooms, although ours had a sink tap that dripped onto the carpet continually. Decent food and great views of the Stelae field. Grounds - pleasant landscaped grounds and courtyard. Walking distance to selae field, Tsion Church, Queen of Sheba's Bath...

We considered staying here but then chose somewhere else and came here for a drink. It was raining and the rain water was flooding in through the ceiling and onto the carpet. The electricity was gone, and the bar/restaurant didn't look clean. We asked for a cup of tea but were told they couldn't make it because they had no...

We've traveled the world for >40 years now and this is very close to the worst hotel ever. We've stayed in old communist era hotels in Romania, back packer hovels in Thailand, you name it. The Yeha challenges them all for worst and most unsafe. Here's our experience....we knew it was bad but were told it overlooks the Stellae Field....no...
