revisited Moorlands end of september for a HF walking holiday week. Since my earlier visit April 15. Changes had taken place at management level Mark having replaced Mike. The hotel showed signs of a new brush, with a revised reception area and information wall. The hotel had maintained its high standards with regard to the bedrooms, food etc. One would...

Stayed 4 nights with an HF guided walking group. It was an all round good experience, though I would question whether my room was actually a 'premium' bedroom as the bathroom was not totally up to scratch (bad shower set up). The food was excellent and all the staff very helpful. A nice location for Dartmoor walks and visits to...

pleasant 3 star standard hotel that shows its age in 70s coloured bath suites but which have been face lifted to acceptable standard. On a HF break with excellent guided walks. A bit pricey for weekend high season breaks, but highly recommended for singles as social evening activities included.

Popped in to the Dandelion Cafe for a coffee before the Haytor walk / climb. Staff were friendly, polite and efficient (hard not to be as we were the only ones there ...) but what coffee shop /cafe allows itself to run out of decaf coffee and doesn't have biscuits? Cant believe it was so empty given there were about...

Stayed one night at Moorlands so perhaps not long enough to make a thorough assessment but as the saying goes, only one chance to make a first impression. The hotel stands at the top of the villiage of Hayter Vale. It has a 3 star ratiing and I think that is a fair reflection. The hotel has an association with...

Just back from three days in glorious Dartmoor at a splendid hotel in a superb location. we were on an HF Holidays guide walking break. The hotel is spacious with good facilities, and the welcome was warm and friendly. The whole of the staff were cheerful, attentive and helpful. We spent 4 days on an HF walking holiday and we find it hard to find any faults. The room was excellent with a great view. The public areas were well appointed and clean. The food was very good and there was plenty of it and the bar sold local brewed ale. They even have a drying room where you can...

Stayed here 27april to May1st, with Christchurch & New Forest National Trust ramblers. Great walking, and good friends, but not a good HF house. Generally cold everywhere, although we could keep our bedroom warm enough, after asking for, and getting extra blankets. The bar was poorly stocked, most things we asked for were "waiting for it to come in" ,...
