Beautiful hotel, great attention and service, lot's of history....but... not enough to make me return. Stayed in Room 914 and must report that the Plumbing & A/C need a lot of fixing: 1)A/C was blowing warm air, maintenance person couldn't do anything to fix it. I wound up opening the windows to let cool air into the room. Mind you...

We were without hot water the entire stay, and even without any water for part of it. The hotel staff could have cared less, and made the excuse that the hotel was old and the water system could not accommodate all the rooms due to being full. If they know this is a problem, why do they book to full...

Have not spent the night at the Columbia Club but have been to numerous receptions, dinners, and had drinks a number of times in their bar area. We are not members, but treated well. Need to be conscious of their dress code; best to call or read on their web site. Location is superb if you want to be directly...

First of all, the location is very good. It is right on Monument Circle, downtown Indy. Valet parking was necessary for us at $30 per day as we drove in from out of town. The staff was very nice and treated us kindly. It is an interesting place and it is good to keep an open mind about it. It...

I stayed at the Columbia Club while attending the Magna cum Murder Festival for readers and writers of mystery/thriller books. Located in the heart of Indy, it is a throwback to the kinder, gentler days when service was the premium sought by travelers. The dark woods of the paneled check-in desk, the brass elevator doors, the quiet halls contributed to...

This hotel is very beautiful. It's very old and looks rich and lush with dark wood and marble staircases. That being said, the rooms are very small and basically just a room and bathroom. (People weren't so needy in the 1920s). The walls were paper thin. The people in the room next door were definitely using their OUTSIDE voices and...

I knew the Columbia Club was an actual club with actual members and membership fees, but since I was able to reserve a room through the travel website, I assumed it would be like any other Hotel. The first question I was asked was if I were a member? My general impression is that the club is open to outsiders...

The building, beautiful. The architecture, exceptional. The history, world class. The staff, mostly outstanding. The rooms, meh. Housekeeping, disappointing. Systems/internal infrastructure, lacking. Ok, the Club has charachter, in spades. As times change and their membership declines it makes perfect sense to explore alternative revenue streams. Entering the hotel business requires a great deal of adaptation, much of which, Columbia Club...

This is a private club that makes rooms and facilities available to non-members on a selective basis. You should expect for formal surroundings and expectations of proper dress and deportment. Definitely for a more mature traveler.

Booked a king, got two double beds. Beds were uncomfortable at best. Hot water took 20 minutes to get to the shower head. A/C very noisy. TV smaller than my computer monitor and remote barely worked. Asked for a wake-up call and never got one - late for meeting. Asked for quick checkout, didn't leave the bill under door as...
