Booked to stay overnight. Room was totally infested. Spoke to staff who were unhelpful. Still charged us full £85 despite unable to use the room and not staying for breakfast. Scottish hospitality at its worst. Totally one to avoid.

Booked in for an overnight but could not stay. Room was completely infested. Spoke to staff to be told their other room was probably worse. To add insult to injury I was still charged for the room and breakfast despite not being able to stay. Never again. The two hour journey home late in the night was far better than...

Stayed in twin room with a friend for a week, while walking the Southern Upland Way. Breakfast and Evening meals were great. Unfortunately was disappointed that our rooms and bathroom were not refreshed, or beds made on a daily basis . And had to go into bar and ask for refills of tea, milk and toilet roll.

We went on 2nd April for Afternoon Tea for my birthday and we certainly were not disappointed! We were given a large table, I guess so that all the food could be spread out and quite a spread it was. It is all home baked and was absolutely lovely. The Hotel itself is sitting in a great location at Bargrennan,...

We had the larger room of the two and it was superbly clean and the bathroom good. Friendly arrival and the dog got a great greeting too. Nice bar and very relaxed all round. It is in the middle of nowhere, which was lovely, but not for everyone. Very much recommend. My one caution is that the two who had...

Went initially fora drink, stayed for dinner! We were just going to have a drink but various dishes passed us and they looked really nice so decided to stay for dinner, a good decision. Food was lovely and the pub itself is really nice and the staff friendly. A lovely place to spend a relaxed few hours

Stayed for one night while on business travel in the area. I stayed in the cottage adjacent to the main building. Lovely little place. One of the comfiest bed I've had the pleasure to sleep in while staying away from home. Great living area to relax in with tv / dvd player and kitchen with all that you require. Fantastic...

Friendly welcome, nicely decorated. Starters were excellent. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his first venison burger, and the risotto was very good. I'm very particular about my food, and their menu was very appetising, and not at all run of the mill. We didn't have room for dessert! We will definitely be going back. The meal was very reasonably priced, for...

Stayed here for one night (wished it had been more) recently with family. We were in the triple room. Two single beds and a put me up. Our son is tall for his age- about 5'9, and he had no bother sleeping in the smaller bed. Lovely en suite shower room. Clean and cosy. Breakfast in the morning fantastic. Staff...

Was so glad to see lights on a Monday afternoon and popped in for a post merrick pint, very warm welcome. Not just a restaurant, still a great country pub. Great place to eat but walkers and cyclists all still very welcome as they always were.
