3 nights and 4 days of memorable stay at this beautiful resort was indeed memorable because of the location, property and most importantly the staff - amazing service by Erosh, Chintaka, Lasi (sorry, I don’t remember the other young bartender who was extremely sweet too! :)), Chamara and the entire team. We really loved our stay at Uga Chena Huts! The staff and management were all fantastic, really warm, helpful and made our stay even more special. The food and drinks were very good and the service was exceptional. The rooms were extremely nice, spacious, clean and they offered all the amenities that you would need. We absolutely loved our stay, it was a fantastic and really special property. We loved the safaris, we got to see a lot of animals, we saw leopards, elephants, deer, many birds, jackal, wild boar, sambal deer, and many more, our ranger Janith was amazing, very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our safaris with him. We highly recommend Uga Chena huts and in fact the Uga escapes groups, we also stayed at Uga Ulagalla and we absolutely loved it. We would certainly stay here again if we return to Sri Lanka. …

A trip of a lifetime! My partner and I stayed at Uga for 2 nights at the start of the year. We were immediately made to feel welcome by the lovely front of house team Shazana, Kanth and the GM Brandon! Our room was beautiful with so much attention to detail, the house keeping team are amazing! I can't say enough about the delicious food and drinks, they use so much of their own homegrown produce and are so creative with the dishes and drinks they serve. This is paired with amazing service from Lasantha, Chamara, Sameera and their team. The team of rangers at Uga are so passionate and work as a team to give you the best safari experience - big thank you to Haritha!! We ended our days with massages from the skilled therapists followed by sunset drinks by the ocean. Uga is a gem - elephants roaming freely, starry skies, beautiful sunsets and ocean views. A truly memorable experience staying here at Chena Huts. Have never stayed at such an idyllic place. The staff were amazing - many thanks to Shazna for arranging a special birthday tea at sundown and a romantic dinner on the beach. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant staff were charming and the Chef prepared the most delicious meals. The lagoon prawns were outstanding. The safaris were exemplary and Jannic our ranger was incredibly knowledgeable. We felt so lucky to have seen so much wildlife and that was down to their experience and skill. Returning to the hotel at sunset and drinking cocktails on the beach while watching an elephant walk along the sand is a memory we will never forget. If you get a chance to stay here you will not regret it. Hope we can return one day - Sri Lanka you were amazing …

This was our second visit to Chena Huts, the first in 2020 pre pandemic. We stayed for 6 nights in room 7. The accommodation as ever was sumptuous and luxurious. The whole area has lovely grounds and lovely views of the beach or from the pool/sitting areas. Elephants and wild boar roam through the grounds. Not forgetting their own 4 dogs which greet the Jeeps on return from Safari, in search of leftovers. The food was very good, especially the barbecue prawns, fabulous, consumed with a glass of something bubbly. Very attentive, but not intrusive staff. The morning and afternoon safari's were excellent. Our guide Vibushana, along with our Jeep driver, knew all the best places. Saw leopards, elephants, peacocks in abundance and lots of beautiful birds including Hornbills. G & T's overlooking the beach on your return as the sun sets. So i stayed here recently where i proposed to my girlfriend on the beautiful sandy coastline at chena huts .I mean talk about a proposal for a person who adores nature and animals . nothing like yala . Special thanks to Erosh ,shazna ,Chef nuwan and our ranger vibushana and mostly to our server who kept us company when ever we came to the restaurant. This place shall be our goto sri lankan travel destination if we do visit yala again. One of the most Instagramable places of 2023 in sri lanka.

I had stayed here in August 2018 with my daughter and back then this was the best place we had ever stayed, it was so good I wanted to return & bring my husband. We finally got here 2023 so I was a little worried I might have oversold it and it might have started to show signs of wear & tear. But I needn’t have worried it was every bit as spectacular as the first visit, the hut was pristine, they are absolutely beautiful with every need catered for, we even had free laundry, mini bar included, food is exceptional, we had one night eating at a table set out on the beach. There is a new bar area now and the jeeps collect from here and set off through a new route from the beach which is lovely then on your return if it’s evening you are straight into the bar area for a sundowner & snacks. This visit being in March was so different to our previous August visit, mainly as Yala was looking magnificent in full greenery the water holes all full and teeming with life, water lilies, birds and butterflies. Our guide Praneeth went out of his way to find various birds my husband wanted to see and also got fabulous views of leopard on our last safari. We stayed two nights but really this place warrants longer I wish we had booked four nights especially at this time of year it is a magical place, each safari was wonderful in different ways. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. The staff were incredible. Very friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious. Every meal was prepared with care and tasted better and better. The villa was stunning. Very clean and having your own pool was the best. We went on two safaris. Our safari guide had so much knowledge. Cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you again uga Chena huts for the greatest experience.

The welcome, service, facilities and hospitality is top notch. Well worth the price and on par with the best anywhere in the world. Room is huge, far bigger than the average hotel and that itself is a luxury.
