I was visiting the Centerville when I noticed the Continental Hotel in the town square. It's a truly classic place that includes lodging, dining, and a full-service bar. I don't believe you can book this hotel online, at least not through TripAdvisor, so you have to go to the front desk and check for availability -- or call ahead. Since...

This hotel is right on the square of Centerville, IA. The square is huge and vibrant--very surprising for such a small town not particularly near anything. We had a suite with a large living area and separate bedroom. Amenities were terrific. Noise, sometimes a problem in centrally-located hotels with ground floor activities, was a non-issue in our case. The restaurant,...

Stayed Saturday, March 4, 2017. Was in town for a wedding at Bessie's barn. Very easy check in. I was able to call in the previous day to see if they had a larger room and they had a two bedroom open up. That room has a king size bed with a master bath. Another room with a queen bed...

We chose this hotel for our stay while we were in town visiting with family for one reason: my husband had been in Centerville the previous year, stayed in another hotel chain there in the town, and wasn't very impressed with his accommodations. He heard about this historic hotel, which had recently undergone recent renovation, and he just happened to...

Great find in the historic town of Centerville. The Continental Hotel is steeped in heritage. This hotel has been completely renovated from its original construction of 1866. Tasteful and classy grays and white with black accents. Very upscale yet cozy feeling.

A rather interesting combination hotel and senior housing. Some of the rooms are available for short term stays other are long term rentals to retired senors all on the same floor. As a hotel guest the room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable, and staff was professional. We were in Centerville to visit family nearby so it was a...

We stayed 8n this old hotel during our grandsons wedding and they have done wonderful restoration and saved some of the old memorabilia. All rooms are not newly done, but seemed that most were. Check in was a bit hectic, but involved a large number of people and they seemed to try to accommodate all as requested. Restaurant food was...

Right on the square, a beautiful ofd brick buliding built in 1893, very nicely renovated and updated. Executive suite was very spacious. We slept well on an excellent mattress. Very nice restaurant and lounge on-site.

The Continental Hotel and restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. Rooms very spacious and immaculate - restaurant newly remodeled and delicious, reasonably priced meals, ALL staff was very accomodating. HOWEVER, if you stay on a weekend (Friday or Satuday night) and have the idea that you will sleep before 1am, you will be in for a surprise. The local youths 'scoop the loop'...
