I appreciate the history behind the original building, and the efforts of the City of Mason City and Wright on the Park to bring this hotel back to it's splendor. The simple lines of a Frank Lloyd Wright design are still impressive to take in. The only downside of this stay was the slow service for breakfast one day.

Mason City did an incredible job saving and restoring the Park Inn. We are so glad to have made the trip to stay there (and tour other Prairie School buildings in town). Our room was exceptionally comfortable ~ loved the effort that went into creating things like the headboards and bedside lights, but also that 21st century lighting and air... More

I stopped in Mason City on my way home from the Iowa Tourism Conference and was so pleased to find this beautiful gem! I love Frank Lloyd Wright and was thrilled to spend the evening in one of his masterful creations. The history emanates through each room, you can see a bit of ware in certain areas of the floor... My 10 year old son loves Frank Lloyd Wright, so this was the perfect place for an overnight stay. He, as well as my wife and I, were not disappointed. What an experience that none of us will soon forget.

The restoration of this hotel is so well done, they have upgraded the guest rooms to modern standards without destroying any of the small details that are so important in Frank Lloyd Wright designs. We spent one night in a park view room on the 3rd floor. It was delightful. Wonderful view of the park and very comfortable accommodations. Breakfast... More

We only stayed one night but really enjoyed our stay. We had a park view room on the third floor which was lovely and spacious. Great attention to detail and cleanliness and the bed was very comfortable with soft linens. Highly recommended!

I spent one night at the Historic Park Inn Hotel, which is the only Frank Lloyd Wright hotel in existence. The staff was extremely helpful. Jim at the front desk was a welcome breath of fresh air for this weary traveller. The room (316) was plenty large enough and charming if you are into dark woods. The two drawbacks are... More

Small nice place to stay. Beds were comfy. Interesting architecture, but nothing spectacular. The staff seems well versed in the history of the hotel and some of the details. We came to Mason City to see the hotel, and stayed here one night. It was one of my top five or top ten hotel experiences. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
