Two couples stayed here because of a visit to the memorial in nearby Clear Lake, IA, to the rock and roll legends killed in 1959 in a plane crash, and to the Surf Ballroom where they had played. Our stay at the Historic Park Inn in Mason City was the best part of the trip. We are from Frank Lloyd...

Stayed in room # 200. Everything was very clean, and the FLW furnishings were elegant. But...the queen sized bed was truly a full sized width with perhaps some extra length; the lighting was odd - bedside lamps could not be turned on/off individually & it took a while to figure out how to turn on the floor lamp!;there was no...

Dear Cynthia, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and for your very nice rating and comments. In any restoration of historical importance, space availability is at a premium. We wanted to put King Sized beds in each room, but even though we increased the size of each sleeping room from FLW’s original design, Kings just wouldn’t...

What a treat to stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright designed hotel! We enjoyed our stay, and loved the small town feel of Mason City. The hotel is well maintained, and fun to explore. We enjoyed the restaurant space, and the atmosphere of the basement bar. Tour the Stockman House and go on the walking tour. And be sure to...

I only had one night in this amazing and beautiful piece of history, but I'm really glad I got a chance to experience the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built hotel. The renovation is spectacular and the room was well appointed. Great bed, great linens, radiant heating in the bathroom floor, and smart lighting. If you are ever...

A friend gave us a copy of Preservation mag, and I found an article on this Frank Lloyd Wright hotel in Mason City, Iowa. Being from the Twin Cities south side this was only 90 minutes drive. The town is an architectural walking tour, and the hotel itself is a wonderful experience. We are going to be back many times...

You have to want to go to Mason City, Iowa. It's off the beaten path, although when the Park Inn and adjacent bank were built in 1910 it was an industrial mecca. Money brought Frank Lloyd Wright to north central Iowa near the end of his Prairie period. Now, more than a century and $20 million later, the Park Inn...

My husband and I travelled from Chicago to stay at this hotel after reading about it in our local paper. Our stay was definitely worth the trip! The restoration of this hotel is beautiful, the staff is wonderful and it's a must for any fans of Frank Lloyd Wright. We visited both the 1910 Lounge and the restaurant and both...

We loved the room at the Historic Park Inn. The room was big enough to host two friends for wine before dinner. The room came with a Keurig, king size bed, fluffy towels, and a walk in shower with a good showerhead. Hotel itself is worth a tour and has some great sitting areas for relaxing.

We loved our stay at the Park Inn. Had room 330, beautiful windows on three sides, lovely vow of the park. Nicely appointed, beautifully furnished. A must stay for those who love the Prairie style. Highly recommend the public areas of the hotel - the piano plays in the mezzanine and the 1910 smash cocktail in the lounge is not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
