The staff were rockstars and attentive to each of our requests, and went above and beyond to make sure our anniversary dinner was perfect (even after we finished the meal). Its also worth noting that the chef is top notch, and made one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had. Please do not miss out on eating at the restaurant!
I highly recommend taking the hike to monkey mountain, enjoying a Suero Imanta (non-alcoholic), and requesting a massage at the spa.
The resort had no issues coordinating a ride for us into town when we wanted to explore the surrounding area (Bucerias, Puerto Vallarta, etc.).
If all you did was lay out by the beach, enjoy the continental breakfast, and stare at the ocean this would easily be a top notch experience. I didn’t mention how amazing the rooms are but I hope you get a chance to see for yourself.
You get the idea from pictures on their website or other reviews, I probably saw hundreds and it doesn’t match the experience. We stayed at a Jungle suite with pool, Nasisa, goddess of the moon. It was spectacular, and you get it until you are there. No angle is left untouched by architectural poetry.
Edgar, Abraham and Nestor were accommodating to every single detail prior our arrival and during the stay. We arrived early as we planed to play golf at Litibú but the course was closed due to a very heavy rain that hit higuera blanca the night prior to our arrival.
We were welcomed 3 hours prior to check in time. Had lunch at the beach and we saw the incredible work that was in progress to restore the beach to a paradise status. We were disappointed due to the impact of weather conditions but were determined to have a good time, so we dodged the buldozer’s noise by going away from the beach in the resort.
Our room was ready at 13 hours and we secluded into our private paradise. Our incredible and unique experiences went like this: plunge into our small private pool to refresh from the beach. (It was cool and refreshing) then a bath of hot water at Limestone bathtub with salts and bubbles garnished with incienso de copal and finish off with an outdoor shower in the middle of the jungle.
I had higher expectations of food having tasted the creations of its former chef Olivier, now Saint Regis CDMX. But it was overcome by a very welcoming and devoted service during every meal from Imanta’s staff specially Jazmin and Kirwa.
It is a very high maintenance resort which justifies the high price due to the limited guest rooms available. Great for introspection, love, deep conversations, time in couple and experience a very fine architectural work of art intertwined with nature at its best.
We stayed for 5 days and happily rotated between the beach, our pool, and the delicious restaurants on the property. We also enjoyed a mezcal tasting and custom drinks at the Observation bar, which has the most incredible view and it's own plunge pool! An absolute must for sunset cocktails. We also ventured on kayaks for the first time with lots of support from the staff.
Event though we went during the rainy season, it really only rained at night (lucky for us) and we really enjoyed listening to the waves every night. The staff also did an incredible job of cleaning up after some heavier wind and rain, so that the resort was back in tip top shape in time for breakfast.
I can't imagine another location where you are literally on the beach, and surrounded by the jungle. We cannot wait to go back!
Highpoints: The property is extraordinary. It feels utterly secluded (about an hour or so from the airport and down a very bumpy dirt road through the jungle). We were in a beachfront room and it was a dream. The sound of the waves, the spacious pool, the dreamy tub. I do wish they had a few more drawers or a wardrobe. There's plenty of room for it.
The beach feels utterly private and we were able to help release baby turtles during our stay. So magical.
Food was uniformly great, though service down by the beach tends to be a bit slow. Dinner options are limited but very good.
Be aware:
If you have any mobility issues or you're unsure of your footing, it is a real challenge to get around the resort. Though there are carts, you're going to have to deal with a lot of steep, uneven rock stairs (no railings in many places) to get to the carts. It can feel quite scary.
Also do not use the nearby company for ziplining/atv/dune buggy etc. Their safety record is SHOCKING.
But the snorkeling company was absolutely wonderful. Make sure you bring payment. We thought it was being handled through the hotel but it wasn't so that led to some confusion and inconvenience.
Imagine our surprise when we received the bill and a $900 bar tab for 11 people and did not have that many drinks! We were charged over $80 per drink for a shot of tequila that the bartender recommended. He never showed us a menu or stated any pricing. Our bad- I never thought I would be fleeced by a resort that seemed so legitimate. All he had to do was state some prices, instead he pushed us into “just trying it”. We didn’t have a lot of choice but to pay it as you have to take their shuttle to get back out- you are captive.
I am very disappointed in the disingenuous service we received, I never have received service in Mexico like this. I strongly recommend staying away from a resort like this when they take the first opportunity to screw you over while pretending to be friendly. STAY AWAY!
