Girlfriend and I stayed for four nights at Imanta, in room Wadeka. The rooms are close to the beach where at night you are lulled to sleep to the sounds of gentle waves. The landscape was maintained to feel as if you were actually navigating through a jungle, which we loved.

The staff were rockstars and attentive to each of our requests, and went above and beyond to make sure our anniversary dinner was perfect (even after we finished the meal). Its also worth noting that the chef is top notch, and made one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had. Please do not miss out on eating at the restaurant!

I highly recommend taking the hike to monkey mountain, enjoying a Suero Imanta (non-alcoholic), and requesting a massage at the spa.

The resort had no issues coordinating a ride for us into town when we wanted to explore the surrounding area (Bucerias, Puerto Vallarta, etc.).

If all you did was lay out by the beach, enjoy the continental breakfast, and stare at the ocean this would easily be a top notch experience. I didn’t mention how amazing the rooms are but I hope you get a chance to see for yourself.

My wife and I celebrated my 40th birthday with a 3 days getaway at Imanta. We had tried to come for a very long time but it was usually sold out. Maybe it was COVID but we finally were able to get a room.

You get the idea from pictures on their website or other reviews, I probably saw hundreds and it doesn’t match the experience. We stayed at a Jungle suite with pool, Nasisa, goddess of the moon. It was spectacular, and you get it until you are there. No angle is left untouched by architectural poetry.

Edgar, Abraham and Nestor were accommodating to every single detail prior our arrival and during the stay. We arrived early as we planed to play golf at Litibú but the course was closed due to a very heavy rain that hit higuera blanca the night prior to our arrival.

We were welcomed 3 hours prior to check in time. Had lunch at the beach and we saw the incredible work that was in progress to restore the beach to a paradise status. We were disappointed due to the impact of weather conditions but were determined to have a good time, so we dodged the buldozer’s noise by going away from the beach in the resort.

Our room was ready at 13 hours and we secluded into our private paradise. Our incredible and unique experiences went like this: plunge into our small private pool to refresh from the beach. (It was cool and refreshing) then a bath of hot water at Limestone bathtub with salts and bubbles garnished with incienso de copal and finish off with an outdoor shower in the middle of the jungle.

I had higher expectations of food having tasted the creations of its former chef Olivier, now Saint Regis CDMX. But it was overcome by a very welcoming and devoted service during every meal from Imanta’s staff specially Jazmin and Kirwa.

It is a very high maintenance resort which justifies the high price due to the limited guest rooms available. Great for introspection, love, deep conversations, time in couple and experience a very fine architectural work of art intertwined with nature at its best.

If you want something secluded and awesome, go here. If you want to wake up at 7am to put towels on your pool chairs go somewhere else. Imanta is easily the best place I’ve ever stayed. You can just text/WhatsApp your requests each day, the food and drinks are amazing. Well drinks are super top shelf. I’ve literally never stayed at a better place. My wife and I came from cabo to celebrate our honeymoon and it was the best choice we made (other than getting married of course). The staff are really amazing and we can’t say enough great about them. When you arrive you choose your soap flavors! Nicest hotel staff and service I’ve ever experienced in my life.

We celebrated our honeymoon at Imanta Resort and it was perfect! We had one of the ocean view casitas with an infinity plunge pool and an outside lounge bed. The room was huge and very comfortable. The entire staff was so kind and attentive, and in particular Juan Jose and Diana, our amazing concierge team.

We stayed for 5 days and happily rotated between the beach, our pool, and the delicious restaurants on the property. We also enjoyed a mezcal tasting and custom drinks at the Observation bar, which has the most incredible view and it's own plunge pool! An absolute must for sunset cocktails. We also ventured on kayaks for the first time with lots of support from the staff.

Event though we went during the rainy season, it really only rained at night (lucky for us) and we really enjoyed listening to the waves every night. The staff also did an incredible job of cleaning up after some heavier wind and rain, so that the resort was back in tip top shape in time for breakfast.

I can't imagine another location where you are literally on the beach, and surrounded by the jungle. We cannot wait to go back!

I have traveled to Puerto Vallarta for over 30 years. I have also felt incredibly safe and enjoyed the Mexican people. Last week at Imanta, my perspective was shattered. A group of friends had dinner at Imanta starting with drinks on the rooftop bar. We were upsold overpriced tequila without being told the price. Each shot was $80. The bartender also used the $80/shot tequila to mix “special drinks” for some. He also padded the number of drinks he served us. The waiters in the restaurant added $60 of bottled water to our bill. Because of the remote location, we did not feel safe questioning the bill. A true shame that gives the honest hard working Mexicans a bad name.

Not sure why this place hasn’t been scooped up by Aman, it’s certainly on brand for them. Beautiful property, very wild and hidden in a palm jungle. Super private and quiet. The ratio of land to people is very high so you feel like you’re alone there. Also there is a lot of staff to help as needed and they are all lovely. The experience is extremely different from say a Four Seasons. The communal pool is small and quaint. The food options are limited. In fact the main restaurant and bar were under construction when we went (wish they had told us) but nonetheless the experience is real Mexican luxury, not big American chain hotel. So be prepared for that. Also I had read reviews from folks saying they felt ripped off my food and drink costs and I think they really onboarded that feedback because everyone was very transparent with us and we felt the food and drinks were very fairly priced. If I was nitpicking I would say some of the details on the room finishes probably need a touch up. And, service is slow. But again, you’re in the jungle so it’s time to relax! Amazing trip overall. Really special place and a perfect one for a true getaway.

Right as you arrive it becomes apparent that what happens next will be special. Imanta lives up to all the great reviews and then some. The property is hidden in a stunning setting with a beautiful cove and beach. Our room was as close to the water's edge as you can get and the sound of the waves will soothe you to sleep. It's all very private and the staff makes you feel as if you are the only people there. A special shout out to the wonderful staff: Jeremy, Reynaldo, Jasmine, Miguel, Martha, and Abraham. We seek 5+ and found it here!

What an incredible stay.

Highpoints: The property is extraordinary. It feels utterly secluded (about an hour or so from the airport and down a very bumpy dirt road through the jungle). We were in a beachfront room and it was a dream. The sound of the waves, the spacious pool, the dreamy tub. I do wish they had a few more drawers or a wardrobe. There's plenty of room for it.

The beach feels utterly private and we were able to help release baby turtles during our stay. So magical.

Food was uniformly great, though service down by the beach tends to be a bit slow. Dinner options are limited but very good.

Be aware:
If you have any mobility issues or you're unsure of your footing, it is a real challenge to get around the resort. Though there are carts, you're going to have to deal with a lot of steep, uneven rock stairs (no railings in many places) to get to the carts. It can feel quite scary.

Also do not use the nearby company for ziplining/atv/dune buggy etc. Their safety record is SHOCKING.

But the snorkeling company was absolutely wonderful. Make sure you bring payment. We thought it was being handled through the hotel but it wasn't so that led to some confusion and inconvenience.

We went to this resort to enjoy a dinner out with friends. It was beautiful on our arrival. They suggested we go up to the rooftop bar and enjoy the sunset and a cocktail and then come have dinner when it was dark out. The service was fun and great, the meal was great- good service at a slow pace to just enjoy your dinner.

Imagine our surprise when we received the bill and a $900 bar tab for 11 people and did not have that many drinks! We were charged over $80 per drink for a shot of tequila that the bartender recommended. He never showed us a menu or stated any pricing. Our bad- I never thought I would be fleeced by a resort that seemed so legitimate. All he had to do was state some prices, instead he pushed us into “just trying it”. We didn’t have a lot of choice but to pay it as you have to take their shuttle to get back out- you are captive.

I am very disappointed in the disingenuous service we received, I never have received service in Mexico like this. I strongly recommend staying away from a resort like this when they take the first opportunity to screw you over while pretending to be friendly. STAY AWAY!

We stayed at the Imanta for 2 nights and loved the property, staff, villas & private beach. With only 12 villas, the stay is intimate. The villas are minimalist in design but spacious and have amazing views. Ours was an oceanfront villa and was right at the end of the beach (quick 3-4 minute walk) and had wonderful views. The drinks were amazing (thanks Victor) and the food was great. Being vegetarians, we wished there were more options on the menu, but the chef was very accommodating. Abraham and the guest relations staff were excellent as well. Imanta is a quick 1 hour drive from Puerto Vallarta airport. The hotel can arrange pick up and drop-off as well as Covid tests for re-entry. Overall, well worth it!

The water temperature is nice but the ocean can be rough and there are rip tides. I got caught in one and was screaming and flailing with my arms for help. No one came to my assistantance. My husband, who was body surfing the bigger waves, finally noticed I was in distress and came to my assistance.

Answer from Polly B

It could be interesting if you are up for the adventure but there are pitfalls too. On the positive side, the beach is fantastic for kids, food is great, rooms are spacious and most have a plunge pool so vacation with a toddler could be nice depending on how you like to vacation. I am not sure if they have high chairs or cribs (you'd have to ask them) and the resort in general is quite quiet - so if your two year old is on the quiet side - that's great - but if you have the sort of two year old that wakes up in the night, cries, is noisy - it might be tough for you and your neighbors. Also, if you do have a plunge pool - of course there is the safety concern - you will have to keep track of your two year old. The property is a bit of a trek for a two year old up and down from the beach to the breakfast and dinner spot - so there might be a lot of carrying for you. If you are looking for a big family pool, kids club, full hotel kid amenities - the Four Seasons is a better choice. But if you are the type of traveler that likes to be off the beaten path, be surrounded by natural beauty, enjoy time relaxing in quietude - then Imanta is the better choice.

We did not stay there, had a day pass with dinner etc., It is a luxury hotel so they will have everything you need but from the way the rooms are situated with complete privacy all you would need to do is open the slider doors. We actually live in the village of Punta de Mita and never use A/C as there is enough breeze from the ocean and no bugs in the winter
