We booked our Kinabalu trek well in advance and direct through Sutera office in KK (I highly recommend doing this if you don't want to get ripped off by agents such as Amazing Borneo!) When we arrived at Laban Rata we were told we had our own room (yesss!) which we were not expecting. The room was clean, spacious and... More

It's ok because you're only there one night and it's really you're only option while climbing Mt Kinabalu. You appreciate it because you'll be wet and cold and relieved when you arrive but really it's pretty average accommodation. The food is good and there's a lot of it, good variety and unlimited tea and coffee! The rooms are average squeeky... More

After a tiring hike (at least for me) we was hoping for a hot shower and a fulfilling dinner. Am not asking for more, just hoping that perhaps the restaurant could extend the dinner time to maybe 8pm or put some food in the fridge for those who couldn't make it before 730pm (SINCE WE"VE PAID FOR IT?) and where... Like the others we had to stay at Laban rata which was one of the only lodging places provided by them. Luckily we only had to stay for half a night because we had to start hiking by 2.30am. The beds are rickety and squeaky. I couldn't sleep much because I had to consciously watch how I turn in my... More

If you're staying at Laban Rata, you're not staying there because you're excited about the lodging -- you're staying there because it's the only option and it's at the top of Mt. Kinabalu. We actually got put up at Gunting Lagadan Hut, one of the outbuildings next to Laban Rata. The place was, quite honestly, a pit. My wife and... More

The views from the summit are incredible, but the dorm room accommodation is terrible an absolute deal breaker. The tiny dorm rooms contain two rickety bunk beds and nothing else. If you stay in a dorm you will not get any sleep (& then you'll be doing an 11km hike already tired) your bed will be shaking and you will... More

It is a beautiful place but not the service provider. The rest house is so so and it needs some maintenance. The room was okay...it would be better if there was some ventilation. Sutera Harbour should revise the check out time. To check out by 10am, is tough for climbers who need more time coming down. If we needed to... More

After reading previous reviews I wasn't expecting very much of this lodge but then who would considering the location and purpose of it. We arrived with 15 students at lunch time, all the students ordered hot chocolate and thought that was a brilliant treat, considering the location. Sitting in the main area of the lodge offers an amazing view, I... More

I wonder where is their basic manner, also their basic service. They have plenty of customer paying huge amount of money throughout a year, yet they are not able to repair the broken water heater for many years. The tower is first come first serve basis, for the late comer, sorry, you are too late to have one. The room... More
