I arranged my Mount Kinabalu hike through Jungle Jack Backpackers. It was a very good deal which included the night before and after the hike at Jungle Jack. I liked it. The location (super close to the National Park and the bus stop), the food (super delicious and fresh) and the contact with the other guests. Please do be prepared for a quite basic accommodation especially if your staying in the room next to the street. I was totally fine with it. It might however not be suited for everyone. It wasn’t very soundproof or clean. Also in case you booked quite some time in advance remember to check up with them at least a week prior to your hike in case they might have forgotten about you.

We didn’t stay at jacks but wish we had, what a truly genuine guy, he saw 4 of us waiting at mount Kinabalu for a bus, the bus passed, flashed its lights which apparently means he’s full. Jack offered all 4 of us a lift to Sandakan as he was going that way, 5 hours later he deposited us at the door of our hotel! It was pure kindness that he showed and asked for nothing other than our company. He can talk! Man he can talk, we laughed the whole journey, if the world was full of Jacks what a place it’d be.

Uncle Jack is extremely friendly, motivating and generous. He took care of us really carefully during the time of our trek to Mount Kinabalu (21st-24th). His co-workers are helpful also by noticing together and informing us when there's a bus sending us back to KK city (not frequently in the afternoon).

We stayed at Jungle Jacks on our way to the tip of Borneo. Jungle Jacks is an amazing place. They treat you like family and the food is worth the trip alone. Thank you so much. I just wish we could have spent our whole time here. Highly recommend.

Booking my mountain hike with Jungle Jack was on of the the best decisions I've made! Jack helped me climb Mt Kinabalu last minute, and was extremely helpful with answering all my questions. Everything was included in the price, and he is very honest about what he offers. The accommodation itself is in a great location and the food is just amazing! I would 100% recommend booking with Jungle Jack if you are wanting to hike Mt Kinabalu!
