Brought my friend first time to kundasang and stayed overnight at Kopi Valley Homestay, Japanese House to be specific its the best memorable night we had at there. Everything is well prepared in that tiny comfy house, gate was secured by padlock that only you know the password made us feel safe and the person who took care of us is the best! She is kind and sporting enough!

HONEST REVIEW, the room is quite ok, the amenities are quite complete in kitchen as well, eventho the bedroom and bathroom are small. the owner is like a school discipline teacher, we just stay for a night only, he gave us full of Rules need to follow & HE always come to our place to Monitor us from time to time and nags us which is not comfortable for us, we 14 people already paid for whole house to stay and of course we do have the right for privacy isnt't it? before we came here we nid to go throught narrow, cramped space up hill which is quite dangerous for those who are not expert in driving.. the parking provided is quite small and limited as well... our family have a senior citizen who have difficulty to walk.. and yet when we came, the owner did not open the big gate for us to drive in, he ask us to park at the parking spaces provided which is quite far & we have to take all of our belongings and walk from parking space to the place we stay... and now i understand why he did that, its because he want to see all the item we bring, we have bring a steamboat to use, yet he tell us all other electrical appliances we bought cannot use or else the whole house will blackout due to big voltage or whatever.. we have to pay to use his steamboat, bbq or anything we borrow ( not deposit, not refundable) there is a deposit we have to pay as well before we stay...( tho this is refundable), conclusions, i will not come back to stay again, owner and rooms not as good as the other reviewer said.. if u considering bringing "old ones" to stay, DON'T. there is staircase need to climb to reach our room... really difficult for ones with difficulty to walk..

Stayed 3 nights at kopi valley with a bunch of friends. Rooms may be small but clean, nicely decorated, well maintained and fully equipped with basic necessities. Shared area includes a kitchen fully equipped cups, plates, cooking utensils, picnic benches and swing for our group to hang out and chill . Nice cool weather. Beautiful garden too. Great view of Kota Kinabalu especially in morning when sky is clear. Friendly host. Cosy homestay. Ideal for families and group of friends.

The houses are far too small, don't be fool by those pictures. No AirCond. Damn hot. The owner told me at night 12°C. Where got 12°C. Japanese house sitting place is actually the walkway and the chairs have no leg (Japanese style), the matress is less than 1 inch thin, hard to sleep, no fridge so couldn't prepare any meat meal or beer, a lot of mosquitoes, the back, legs and hands were bitten with more than 30 red marks not sure by what insect during our 1 night stay here, got tv but no channel, can't even watch the news, sleeping place is upper floor which you have to climb up a 70 degree vertical stairs without side handle, very dangerous. The little garden hut is made from plywood and zink plate wall, very noisy when raining, damn. The rain make me cannot sleep, (too noisy) and very very small, no kitchen, brush teeth wash hand outdoor, toilets are not attached. Eating place is outdoor, so eat in cold chilling environment with mosquitoes. Kitchen is not as good as other people described, the only frying pan my unit had was the smallest size one, I had to fry vege using a pot, chopping board was a little bigger than my mobile phone, rice cooker was the smallest size unit. Shower, the water pressure was so so so soft, especially at the garden hut, the water came in the manner "now you get it, now you don't". If you don't like to see dog poo on the road or common area, this is not the place. I like the view from this place, and the clean air. I think if I have to pick again, I will pick the Purple Cottage just next door, whole house by youself. And stay only 1 night is enough, because the road up here really scared us, by 6pm the road is dark n misty, narrow and none tar road, big and small rocks and wire every where.
