The Jailer's Inn is quirky, and not for the traveler who thinks that a generic motel is a perfect place to sleep. The rooms differ, but all are fun to stay in. Paul is a gracious host, and his breakfasts are a great start to the day. This is also the rare B and B that welcomes children, and is...

We stayed two nights in the family suite and it was perfect for us (my husband and I were traveling with my mom). Comfortable rooms with a little fridge and sink in a shared living area and shared bathroom. We got a friendly welcome from a staff member when we checked in and enjoyed meeting the owner at breakfast later...

I stayed in this B&B almost one year ago to the dsy. I am happy to say that my update is POSITIVE. I booked the same room on purpose. The "Garden Room" overlooks the walled in courtyard. It is very spacious with two queen beds. The restroom has been 95% renovated and is beautiful. No more clawfoot tub shower. Now...

My girlfriend and I spent a night at Jailer's Inn in Bardstown during our Bourbon Trail experience this spring. As part of a "Spirits and Spirits" vacation, the haunted history of the inn did not go unnoticed during our vacation research, and though ghosts did not reveal themselves to me, the hotel certainly provided flair, ambiance, and genuine hospitality during...

We recently spent the night at the Jailer's Inn while completing the Bourbon Trail, and I was excited to visit because of the history and alleged hauntings. The property is fun and creepy at the same time, and our room was the Colonial Room on the first floor. Having read other reviews suggesting it was dirty and worn, I was...

The NY Times wrote up this place as a "must see"... obviously whoever wrote the article did not do a "stay". We did and won't be back. It's a good think we enjoy an adventure! The only good thing I can say is that the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was close to inedible -- the fruit had seen better days...

We spent a night at Jailer's Inn in Bardstown, KY. Very cool B&B with a history of having been an old county jail. There have been many reported ghost sightings although we did not have that experience. The Inn is well located, clean, comfortable and was very quiet on a Sunday nt. The breakfast was fabulous.

The B&B was formerly a jail. It's a little quirky, but that was makes is great. Paul, the owner, is the perfect inn keeper. He friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the building and the history of Bardstown. The location is great. You can park in front of the building on the street or use a parking behind...

This quaint B&B is located in the heart of horses & bourbon. Paul, the owner, helped with suggestions for Derby & restaurants Breakfasts were above average and delicious. Clean, comfortable room. Outside areas provide a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast, read a book, or have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Within walking distance to pubs, restaurants...

Location is great. Paul, the owner, is very cordial. However, the property and furnishings are being neglected. All the furnishings are extremely tired - in fact - so dirty I did not want to sit. The courtyard where breakfast is generally served, is also in great need of attention. I planned this trip for 3 couples (that we do business...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
