This is a very special place to visit. We were immediately taken by the architecture, decor and service. The staff in particular were professional to a level above 5 star. However, as the cost was also high, I feel slightly entitled to point out a few very minor but none the less significant issues. Our room had slightly stained (behind...

We went for a family celebration Sunday lunch on Sunday 14th August. The food and service were excellent. Beautiful surroundings and we had a game of croquet after finishing our coffee on the terrace.

It may look like a typical Victorian Gothic hotel, but the friendly helpful staff put the hotel into a different league. There seemed plenty of people keen to help us enjoy our stay- from a light lunch in the garden to a late night drink. The public rooms are all impeccable, and the lack of an obtrusive reception provides a...

17 of us ranging from aged 30 to 86 had afternoon tea in the terrace room on Saturday. It was my hen do and everything from my first enquiry to the event itself was seamless. I had corresponded with Katie who had some great ideas and was very accommodating with different food requirements. The hotel is beautiful as is the...

I don't know why I haven't reviewed this wonderful hotel before. We held my daughter's wedding reception here in 2009 and have had many enjoyable family meals since. Last weekend we returned for a long weekend to celebrate a special birthday and everything was just perfect. Our suite was so comfortable, beautiful views and had everything you could need, including...

We were a group of ladies and we were served in a beautiful triple aspect sitting room, gathered round two tables in front of a wonderful fireplace which in the winter must be stunning. The staff were wonderfully attentive and there was a really good choice of teas etc. My mint tea was fresh and piping hot. The array of...

This hotel gives the guest a taste of fine living, done with excellent service in a lovely setting. We chose it as it is near Glyndebourne, but there were a lot of pleasant surprises, not least of which was the fine restaurant. The only downside (and this was the only downside) is the lack of good reliable wifi. That may...

We were welcomed at the door and from that moment the service was excellent, we arrived for afternoon tea and that didn't disappoint, scones clotted cream and homemade Rasberry jam followed by lemon posset, chocolate cake , Victoria sponge and mixed fruit tart!
