We are natives of Louisiana but had never heard of this place. We found it while making plans to tour Avery Island. What luck!!! The cottage was precious and feels as if you have stepped back in time. Snacks and a bottle of wine are included in the price. We made several trips through the gardens and found different paths... We spent four nights here. Enjoyed every minute. Wanted privacy, relaxation, and beauty and got it all! Watched the beautiful sunsets over the lake two nights. Garden paths are not lighted, but moon and light rock helps. The grounds were lovely......can only imagine how beautiful and fragrant they are in the spring/summer months. Room is nicely appointed....could use one more... More

I highly recommend this place to stay if in this area. We stayed in the Cook's Cottage and it was wonderful. Plenty of room and bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is huge and has a high toilet seat and great grab bars for safety. The snacks and drinks in the room are very thoughtful especially since this place is out... More

We spent Wednesday and Thursday nights there. Wednesday we were the only people in the garden after hours! How nice! The two of us and the two dogs (no extra charge for the dogs either!) walked the whole garden late evening and early morning. Wow! They provide two bagels and a few sweet pastries with jelly and cream cheese. Also... More

We stayed at Cooks Cottage for one night. It was very nice, comfortable, and clean. It was a very peaceful evening walking through the beautiful gardens, sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the calm atmosphere. We loved seeing the peacocks on the grounds strutting their stuff!

My daughter brought me for an overnight stay last month and we enjoyed it so much we booked both Servant's Quarter rooms and brought my husband and granddaughter for a stay. We all enjoyed walking the gardens then relaxing with our glass of wine with the peacocks in the afternoon and racoons peaking at us from behind the porch in... More

We stayed here one night, as a place to relax in the middle of a busy trip. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night! We stayed in the Servants' quarters and the room was comfortable and welcoming. It was wonderful to be able to get up in the morning and stroll around the grounds in the early... More

Second visit to Cooks Cottage. Very comfortable and clean. This is a great value! The gardens close at 5 p.m. and the whole place belongs to you. There are snacks, wine, and wonderful coffee to partake. We plan on staying in the servants quarters next visit...a bit more out of the way. The only negative is that the traffic in front... More

Beautiful grounds, lovely cottage. This was our second visit to the Servants Quarters Cottage & Rip Van Winkle Gardens ... We can't wait to go back!!!! Love the peacock & kitty visitors that come to the cottage. The tour of the home & grounds are included with the cottage rental. The restaurant is delicious!
