We have been to this pub a few times before and have never been disappointed BUT we thought the food last night was particularly good. A nice selection of meat, fish and vegetarian, freshly cooked vegetables and good service.

How pubs should be ! Friendly; welcoming wood fires and lots of atmosphere and papers to read. Food and prices ok. Remember to book because very busy even on a Tuesday lunchtime. Daily specials. Just half a mile from Cowley Manor if you fancy a pre or post spa.

We stayed here for the weekend with friends recently. The purpose of the visit was to go to the Christmas markets in Gloucester ( well worth a visit!) the hotel is absolutely lovely, very welcoming and warm. The hotel itself is 18th century I believe and beautifully decorated with silver birch and Christmas lights. There is a real fire in...

Stayed here for 2 nights and I can't find a bad thing to say from the staff to the accommodation all was so good . There were small touches that made it above the usual pub stay like the fresh milk provided in the accommodation and free apples . The rooms are minimal but you have everything you need the...

Excellent food and drink. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Try the lamb shank or belly pork and you will not be disappointed. I go regularly to this pub and have never had a less than perfect meal. There is a function room and also rooms to stay over in. Lovely area on edge of rural Cheltenham. Beware - Cotswold prices, but well...

A family evening meal in a most delightful country Inn. Fabulous food and wonderful service. Superb ambience complete with log fires. Just a few miles South of Cheltenham in a truly delightful rural setting. Flacked mackerel starter, whole plaice and veg as mains- followed by sticky toffee pudding and coffee.

I stayed here on a one night stopover when travelling from Walsall to Exeter. It's just a few miles off the M5. Modern rooms attached to an old world pub and restaurant.Excellent food in an old world pub with log fires. Well kept real ale.

Picked this place out by pure chance as a halfway stopover on our journey from Manchester to Portsmouth [to catch the ferry to Santander]. Comfortable rooms and good food and drink. Whilst being part of a small chain of pub/restaurants, the place was local and had friendly atmosphere.

This is one of my favourite places, either for a bar snack, evening meal, or just a quick pint. Good friendly service with great food and beers. On the colder days there are a couple of large open log fires. All in all a very comfortable country inn. Word of warning though, you often need to book a table so...

We both enjoyed our meal and drinks at the Green Dragon. Vegetarian foods in pubs is often an after-thought, but not here. Both our dishes were tasty and well priced. The pub has a lovely ambience with glowing fires, great beer and a dog friendly attitude. When we are back in the area again, we will be sure to visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A traditional country 17th Century inn situated in the Cotswolds only 15 minutes drive from Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester. The Green Dragon Inn continually proves to be a popular retreat for those appreciating good food, fine wines and real ales. Set in the countryside for a relaxing experience and great walks from the door.On a fine day, sit outside amongst the honeysuckle and hanging baskets or on colder days relax by the log fires in our Oak beamed bars. Browse over our extensive menu and daily changing specials board, where our chef uses his creativity in producing “pub food with a difference"One of our special features of the pub is the ‘Mouse Bar’. The furniture and the bars themselves have been made by Robert Thompson, the famous ‘Mouse Man of Kilburn’ with small mice running all over the hand carved chairs, tables and mantelpiece! To complement the food there is a wine list notable for its range and value. We also have a good selection of fine ales; Hook Norton, Otter, Doom Bar and GL Cider. Nine comfortable bedrooms are individually furnished to a high standard, all with their own en-suite bathroom. The rooms are all doubles and twins, and extra beds for children can be provided if needed. In addition we have the St. George’s Suite and has its own sitting room. Also an ideal venue for weddings. ... more   less
