The National Park is a must-visit place, with majestic scenery and an engineering feat to build a dam and hydro station in such a remote area. The Lodge is the only accommodation option here, unless you are self sufficient (there is a nearby camp ground a few km away), or you are making a day trip - the Lodge is...

Room was a basic hotel room with a comfortable bed and clean. Could do with better sound insulation between the rooms but external noise was not too loud and didn't last too late so no problems getting a good night's sleep. No wifi or television but not missed. Restaurant is the only choice in Strathgordon and had a limited menu...

We stayed in a budget room - tea and coffee, really good shower, very clean. Great facilities - good bar and restaurant with a magnificent view. Tennis court and pool are a bonus. A great base to explore the region.

Certainly worth the drive and there's accommodation to suit all budgets. Spent two nights here with 2 other couples in the self contained units which are very spacious and even have a laundry. The view of Lake Peddar from the lodge itself is magnificent and we all enjoyed our meals at the restaurant. Great atmosphere with log fires and a...

We stayed here 2 years ago and were desperate to get back here. Last year the bushfires meant we had to reschedule, but last week we were back to this wonderful place. The accommodation is basic, but you need to realise that this was where the workers on the hydro stayed, so deal with it.! The food has improved since...

This is a must do, the room booked had a wonderful view of lake Pedder and we were treated to a stunning sunrise with lovely colours highlighting the rugged backdrop. The room quiet and very nice. Dinner was to die for the broccoli and blue cheese soup a stunner. Lake Gordon was a short drive away. The drive to the...

We were on a camping trip but we had high winds and plenty of rain so it was a dry night we needed. Well situated on the banks of Lake pedder They have a captive audience but the service was friendly. WiFi not supplied by resort but is available from an outside provider called Roaming. They are a rip off...

Pedder Wilderness Lodge is just about as remote as you can get in Tasmania, situated on the shores of Lake Pedder in south East Tasmania. The lodge was the old Hydro village when the Gordon dam was being built and still hosts workers in separate cottages who work at the dam. We have been here a number of times but...

We stayed in a Lake View room. The room was immaculately clean, warm and comfortable with a lovely view over Lake Pedder. The amenities at the Lodge are great with a comfortable guest lounge, outdoor settings and a fitness centre. We enjoyed dinner in the Restaurant. The staff are very friendly, obliging and knowledgeable. The only suggestion would be to...

We spent 1 night at the lodge. We loved it. The room was clean and tiddy. We had a view of Pedder lake wich was really nice. We had drinks at the bar and talked with the nice locals and staff. Perfect place to stay to visit the area such as the Gordon Dam. At night, we went stargazing at...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pedder Wilderness Lodge is located right in the heart of Tasmania's Southwest National Park which is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. Recognised as one of the world's extraordinary natural wonders by the World Heritage Commission, it is to be protected forever from human intervention. One tree, which now sits out the front of the Lodge, was cut down in the 1970's before this protection was in place. The great Huon pine, which is about the width of a car, has its rings marked all the way back to the birth of Christ. Our surrounds, from which this great Huon came, boast everything from ancient awe-inspiring landscapes with boulders from the Jurassic period, striking mountains and lush sub-alpine rainforests with monolithic trees which range from centuries to thousands of years old, all the way to the modern man-made Gordon Dam which offers one of the world's top ten adrenaline activities. With accommodation for all types of travellers, Pedder Wilderness Lodge offers a relaxing and warm environment with a focus on fine Tasmanian food, wines and produce. With sweeping views of Lake Pedder and Twelvetrees Range you could not find a more perfect place to escape, explore, relax and enjoy our hospitality. ... more   less
