On a sudden trip to Bangor for a family funeral, The Charles Inn was just perfect! Available, accommodating, friendly, clean, quiet and welcoming. The building is delightfully older, worn, and fits perfectly in downtown Bangor. It is walking distance to pretty much everything. The attached coffee shop was perfect for a quiet cup of coffee and pastry before the long...

We were in town for UMaines Parents weekend. We were a little late to the game and all the Orono options were booked so I decided to go with the Charles. So glad we did. The Charles is in a great location, downtown in close proximity to restaurants, bars and little shops and about 10 minutes from Orono. There’s a...

We decided to stay at the Charles Inn during our Maine trip after realizing it was on Hotel Impossible. First, Danna at the front desk is wonderful. She was so helpful with all of our needs, going above by printing us a list of places to eat. We stayed on the Paul Revere room. There were a few issues with...

Our two night stay at the Charles Inn was a delight. The ladies at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful as they gave tips about restaurants, parking, nightlife, museums, etc. Parking can be a problem but overnight parking is allowed in downtown until 9:30 each morning or the option to park in a nearby garage. The lobby is...

Owners need to work on it. Location is great. Staff is great. Facility needs upgrading. We were disappointed in our room & there were no other rooms available in the hotel. So, maybe we just got the leftovers. But it was worth it because the location is absolutely perfect. They have a diamond in the rough!

We just left The Charles and are already looking forward to returning for a stay the next time we're in the area. We stayed Sunday-Tuesday in the King's Suite and loved it. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They even helped us with a late check in when we arrived after 10pm. The King's Suite is on the...

We travel to the Bangor area frequently and decided to break our routine and stay some place new to us.....huge mistake! Photos online are very misleading. Decor is not museum like, it's more shabby mixed with cheap. We had to brush our teeth in the bathtub, the sink didn't work. The lighting and tv had to be fixed by us....

Location, location, location. Steps away from 6 restaurants. The rooms are tastefully decorated with updated bathrooms. My bed could have used a new mattress. The price was comparable to national chains and I stayed in a locally owned historic inn

Our visit to Bangor was unique when we stayed at The Charles Inn. It retains some of the character of earlier days. We stayed in a themed room " Logging on the Penobscot " The staff was friendly and helpful. We met the owners also, they were very accommodating too. The Logging Room is a different kind of a very...

We had a terrible experience, so bad that we cancelled the rest of our stay and booked at the Hampton Inn. Hotel looked run down from the street. What was right: friendly staff. What was wrong: no parking, hot lobby cooled by enormous fans, dingy hallway, lock on room door defective, room with shabby furniture, bed and mattress un useable...
