What a great experience. We are talking about our 3 day 2 night stay with Richard, Danna, & Greg @ the Sprucewold Lodge in Boothbay, Maine. From the warm greeting to the delightful custom ordered breakfast, nothing in personal service and warmth was missed. This property is an authenic 1920's log lodge situated on top of a hill. the breeze...

We went to a Saturday night BBQ with a quitarist playing solo. Food was adequate. Clam Chowder was tasty. Salad was fresh. Chicken was good but steak was pretty tasteless. Potato Salad was excellent. Desserts were fair. However, the music was excellent. The guitarist, Maurice Sedacca, played a wonderful Spanish Guitar as well as a Jazz guitar. Made for a...

After a day of fighting the July 4th crowds and souvenir shops that surround the harbor, we checked into the charming Sprucewold Lodge. A large log building with two peaceful porches housed our room. Across the road was the great room decorated with woodsy and old time artifacts also served as the breakfast area. The buffet style meal was all...

stayed here July 4th week and couldn't have loved it more. Booth Bay Harbor is a jumble of people, boats and shops that is fun at times, but just a few minutes away was the rustic oasis of Sprucewold Lodge. A giant log cabin held the quaint rooms on one side of the road and on the other was one...

Our first time here and would definetly come back. As it was early in the season, we were the only guests, but that didn't stop our hosts from being so accomodating! A lovely fire was burning and hot coffee was waiting for us to enjoy when we awoke from a wonderfully comfortable bed! We would have understood if we just...

This is a true lodge, made of logs and built in the 1920's. I stayed here for two nights while visiting the Boothbay Harbor area and really enjoyed my visit. Much of the charm of this hotel comes from the fact that the owners have kept a lot of the original look, and not modernized (i.e., RUINED) the rustic appeal....

I arrived at Sprucewold on a cold, drizzly mid-week evening after Labor Day. A fire was burning in the fireplace, another guest was reading in the lobby, and a note was left at the reception desk with my key. I essentially checked myself in and figured it all out on my own. The lodge lobby is cheerful and the large...

“Getting away” is a much over-used expression these days. As the phrase pertains to vacation destinations, it seems we rarely opt for places without creature comforts, modern conveniences and modern telecommunications access. Let’s face it. Unless one elects to hack and trek through jungles, scale distant mountain peaks, sail solo around the world, and search out places far from the...

Note: We did not spend the night here but we did stop in for the afternoon for nostalgia reasons. My mother had worked here 50 years ago and always raved about it so we stopped in for a visit. Richard and his wife were very welcoming and charming, gave us a tour and the run of the place. it is...
