If i could give 10 stars i would , the moment i walked in the lobby i felt like i was home , they took about 2-3 minutes to get the info and to give me the room card, they explained everything thoroughly that even a 2 year old could understand, the bellhop took the luggages and showed us to the room and before we went to the room the concierge (Yair) welcomed us and made us feel better than my own family and helped us settle in and showed us around. They are very big on details for example they will clean your room as many times as you ask and they will do a very good job especially emilia. The food options were very good and it will feel like you are dining at a 5 star restaurant everytime and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from i do recommend to bring at least one pair of long pants so you can eat inside some of the restaurants. The pools are very nice and warm and the staff is very friendly and will frequently come up and ask if you need drinks or food and even clean your shades or glasses for you. There were so many activities to do from pool volleyball , pool basketball , aerobics, bingo, ping pong, cornhole etc and the staff that was doing that were soooo nice some of the names i remembered were (carlos, omar, papasito, jennifer, deborah, estefani) and after you done with the games you could go to the bar in the pool area where the nicest bartenders will take care of you (edwin was my favorite one) treated me like a brother but all of them were nice but most of the time i was too drunk to remember all of their names hahaha. They offer so many excursions at good prices and the cancun adventures crew are very professional and happy to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and happy. And last but not least every night they will have different events that you will enjoy such as the fire show ,rock concert , boogie night show, and my favorite mexican night show. I highly recommend this resort if you want a good experience and stress free vacation i will definitely go back at least once a year just because they made me feel at home i want to thank each worker at that resort for making my honeymoon a memory to remember my whole life.

Let me start off by saying I never write reviews but our stay with Secrets Marina was so exceptional I can't not gush about it .Before our trip we did an extensive amount of research, there are lots of all inclusive options in the Cancun area. After reading many reviews we settled on Secrets Maroma and it exceeded our wildest expectations. Everything was better than we could've imagined, the food topped even some of the best NYC restaurants we frequent. Every member of the staff is so kind and genuine, so generous with their help and that added to our stay tremendously. The beach is immaculate, they remove the troublesome seaweed much more often than the adjacent resorts and offer truly luxurious cabanas. we did an ATV and Cenote excursion as well as a catamaran and snorkeling tour, both which were expertly booked by our Amstar rep. my advice is to wait to book the excursions until you get there because they offer you a lot more information and flexibility with scheduling then you get through the website when you book. if you are looking for a relaxed, chill environment this is exactly what you want. While there are a few club activities for late nights, it's easy to retreat to your room early (10pm) and be undisturbed by noise. During the day the pool can get lively when they have volleyball or other activities planned but for the most part it is just the low hum of older couples having a great time.
My last tip is this: The room itself was beautifully designed, as is every space. Skip the upgrade for the Oceanview room unless you want to pay the megabucks for the couple of rooms that are on the end. There's so many wonderful spaces outside your room you will hardly spend enough time there to merit the extra money. The junior suite was amazing and I would've loved to have spent the money we used on the oceanview on a massage or cabana instead.

We have traveled frequently to tropical destinations, but this was our first experience to a Secrets resort. We had read great reviews about this particular resort, and we were so very pleased with our decision to come here.
We liked the size of the resort and the restaurant options. Our experience with all inclusive resorts has been mixed, but the food at this location was truly impressive. We had opted for the preferred club experience so we had the benefit of the à la carte breakfast that is offered for club members. We also enjoyed the restaurant options, particularly the Italian and French restaurants.
We alternated between pool and beach, and both experiences were great. Although there did happen to be some seaweed issues when we were there due to recent storm activity, this particular resort uses a quiet tractor to swiftly pick up the seaweed, while the neighboring resort does it by hand with a wheelbarrow. The contrast was pretty astonishing.
All of the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. However, we would like to recognize a few of them specifically:
The beach waiter Alberto was extremely attentive and kind. He checked in with us frequently and we always felt well cared for.
Angel, our waiter at Portofino, the Italian restaurant, was a true delight. He was very friendly and professional, and gave us excellent suggestions for dinner choices, although the menu was so enticing that probably any selections would have been great.
The pool server Marco was just outstanding. We really felt we could ask anything of him and he would do it gladly. He demonstrated a true volunteer spirit, which we genuinely appreciated.
Richard and Mateo, preferred club wait staff, were equally fantastic. They were always attentive, provided excellent recommendations for breakfast, and made us feel very comfortable and welcome.
We opted not to use maid service during the day, but rather to have our room cleaned by evening turndown staff, and we would like to provide a special shout out to Ana and Donita. The room was extremely well cleaned. They were so very friendly, and whenever we returned from dinner, there was something special awaiting us. We felt very pampered indeed.
The pool attendant Luis is the type of representative who Secrets should use as their role model for training their staff. Although we had wonderful experiences with everyone, he always went out of his way to address our requests. And his positive vibe was infectious. We developed a wonderful rapport with him and enjoyed every encounter with him.
Although the resort was beautiful and the food delicious, people are what make a tropical resort unique and special. We certainly recommend this resort without hesitation.

This resort truly feels like our second home, as we've visited multiple times. It's stunning, clean, service is excellent and absolutely beautiful.
We've made so many friends here and celebrated numerous anniversaries, with this visit marking our 12th year. We stayed in the Preferred Club and upgraded to a presidential suite.
Alex, a longtime friend, surprised us with a warm welcome when we arrived, bringing gifts and even organizing a fireworks display with his team. He is incredible, and we adore him—what a fantastic way to be greeted!
Eder, another dear friend we've known for years, is a wonderful person with an amazing sense of humor. He kept us entertained, and next time we'll definitely try the coconuts. We regret that we were running late on our departure day and couldn't say a proper goodbye. We love you, Eder!
Luis was our concierge for the latter part of our stay. We had to change rooms due to bats coming out of the wall near our swim-out pool, and the ocean view was obstructed by beach beds—definitely avoid a room in the 17th building! We moved to building 27, right next to the room we stayed in last year.
Luis made up for the room issues; he was attentive and sharp, always ready to assist us with anything we needed. He went above and beyond, setting up towels for our lounge chairs and ensuring our mini-bar was stocked to our liking. Whatever we asked for, he was right there to help. Thank you, Luis!
Antonio from Himitsu we have again known him for a long time ever since we started coming to Maroma. He was an amazing addition to our Anniversary evening he had the chef Francesco to prepare this incredible dish and special sushi for us it was out of this world. In summary, overall we had a really lovely stay - very good food, lovely beach, wide choice of activities and entertainment and the most wonderful staff that all want to please.
So where to start with the detail -
The Staff - by specifically thanking David (Beach, Entertainment and Karaoke Night) and Aidee (Concierge), as well as ALL the very, very many hard working and dedicated staff at this hotel - they are all superb and work tirelessly.
I do, however, have one issue with the Reception Team who really seriously need to work on their attitude ! I also have issues with Hyatt asking guest to sign unreadable, nonsensical, unenforceable and overbearing legal documents upon arrival - seriously Hyatt - why ???
The Rooms - well appointed, very clean, spacious, very well equipped, but our swim up suite could be noisy in the mornings - all the noise from above and from the external corridor. It seemed that many guests had also lost the ability to hold door handles and simply let their doors slam from about 7am every morning. We had bathroom noise from above, including someone using a jacuzzi at 2am and trolley noise from Room Service Breakfasts, Maintenance Staff and Cleaners.
Cleanliness - the cleaners are great - very high standards everywhere in the hotel (although I wish they would remember to lock the ground floor patio doors when they clean).
The Food and Restaurants - excellent food, super choice, something for everyone. The issue - no restaurant reservations and on really busy days this can mean over an hours what for a table, which means if you dont want to eat at 9pm, you must get to a restaurant by approx 6.30/7.00. Capacity planning for high occupancy needs some more thought in my view. Generally excellent restaurant service and excellent food. The Pool Dining Experience in my view needs more staff, one waiter run off his feet for a 150USD romantic experience - needs a staffing review - some of our dinner was missing, simply because the poor chap was too busy (luckily our dinner was a complimentary one, but for paying guests maybe not quite right).
The Entertainment - amazingly wide choice - all day, every day. Some very entertaining shows. There is a danger though of some of the daytime entertainment verging on a "Club 18-30" noisy affair that can ruin any tranquility around the pool. Is this a romantic hotel, or a drinking, party hotel - the balance needs to be right. Sometimes the entertainment team (who are fantastic, lovely guys) perhaps try a bit too hard.
The Beach and Setting - simply superb.
The Grounds - fantastic - an amazing gardening team, working all day, every day.

First of all, the service is amazing, everybody is so nice and attentive, they will treat you like a king, no matter if you tip or not.
Food was top notch, in a week we never ate at the buffet as there were so many a la carte restaurants to choose from, I loved that no reservation was required, if there is a waiting time they will give you a beeping device so you can go around to get a drink while waiting for your table to be ready.
Drinks were really good, branded alcohol and they will make you anything you ask for, as strong as you want it. Servers will go around the pool taking orders, for both food and drinks.
Entertainment was good, plenty of activities during the day, and each night they have a show (some shows had a very high production value in my opinion, loved the fire show), and at 23:00 each night they will have disco until 01:00, and there was always at least 20-30 people dancing.
They have a cafe open 24h (you can get coffee, milkshakes, frappuccinos, pastries and sandwiches) and they also have free room service available 24h.
The resort is modern looking, clean and besides the 2 pools (one with a swim up bar), they have a beautiful beach, with palapas and Bali beds (those cost extra), there is a bar on the beach and they have free drink and food service in the beach as well, you just order anything you want and they’ll bring it to you.
Even on check out day (at 12:00), you can use all facilities and eat/drink until you actually have to leave, and when needed they offer hospitality rooms in case you want to take a quick shower when you already checked out from your room).
Finally I really wanna mention again how the service was amazing and all the people working there were the best, always with a smile asking if they could get you something.
Strongly recommend it, can’t comment on preferred club as we didn’t have it, but this is definitely a 5 star resort in every way!

My husband and I spent a week at Secrets Maroma in mid-December. We were relaxed and well cared for from the moment we arrived. Carlos in the preferred lounge greeted us with a warm welcome and tons of information. He answered all of our questions and went above and beyond looking up the location of a wine store in Playa del Carmen on his own phone so we could take a photo of the map. Then we were whisked off to our oceanfront honeymoon suite where our concierge Emmanuel and his mentee Carolina oriented us to the room and the resort. We cannot say enough good things about Emmanuel. From arranging beach chairs close by so my husband (who was on crutches) wouldn’t have to walk too far, to connecting us with Janet the sommelier for wine recommendations, to sharing our feedback with the F&B director, to recognizing our anniversary with a very sweet gift, Emmanuel embodied five-star service. He was a joy to chat with each day, and we really appreciated his authenticity and getting to know him a bit.
Once on the beach each day, Luis and Manny, our beach concierges, set up our chairs, and Dario, Marvin, Victor, Alberto, Ezekiel, and standout Catalina, took care of us all day every day. Catalina even taught us some words in Maya. She is a rockstar.
At the preferred beach club, where we had breakfast most mornings and some afternoon drinks, Richard, Mateo, Julio, and Pedro exemplified the perfect mix of fun and professionalism. Everywhere we went at the resort, from the restaurants to the bars to just standing around at the pool, the staff were eager to help or just engage in conversation so we could learn more about them, their journeys, and their country and culture. A couple more standouts were Veronica (sommelier) and Alexis (activities team).
Our room was gorgeous, well-maintained, the food was quite good in most places (our favorites were El Patio and the French restaurant), and there was always an activity to engage in if we were in the mood, and peaceful waves and breezes when we weren’t.
The pool was freezing on the first day, but they heated it after that. It made a huge difference and we really appreciated it. There were small touches like this happening all of the time.
Areas for improvement: - more Mexican cultural highlights, such as more traditional Mexican foods from regions around the country, Mayan lessons, highlighting staff backgrounds, etc. would be great. - real, natural fruit juices for cocktails instead of the ones they use which contain artificial sweeteners. My cocktail choices were very limited because of this and that was a bummer, especially at this price point. Even the simple syrup the bars stock is artificial. The bartenders would make cocktails with sugar upon request, but they only had packets, which created a lot of unnecessary extra work for them. - the guacamole isn’t fresh and the nachos had processed cheese sauce. Again, at this price point, the resort should not be serving mass-produced items such as this. - The wine list is very overpriced. I expect to pay a premium when purchasing wine in a restaurant. However, the prices here discouraged us from purchasing wine every night, so the resort lost money there.
All in all, our stay was really incredible and we hope to return.

We had a lovely stay and the resort is beautiful. Staff are very attentive, particularly the building concierges and the waiters and waitresses, and the excursions we booked were great. The food was really good quality at all the restaurants, and there were some fun daily activities on the agenda. The sea is lovely and we appreciated the effort every morning to remove the seaweed. We enjoyed using the gym and it has a good variety of equipment.
Some room for improvement though:
1. We think the pool and sun loungers could be kept cleaner and there are signs of wear and tear
2. There could be more drinks options for those who don’t drink alcohol - while it was lovely to be able to have fresh smoothies at breakfast, the rest of the time we were not able to have fresh juices or smoothies, only sugary drinks and mocktails.
3. There was lack of flexibility at times which unnecessarily dampened our experience - for example, when we checked in and we wanted to switch the two rooms within our party, as one had a King and one had two doubles, this seemed to be a big deal and took ages to resolve. Another example is how one night when we tried to go to a special buffet by the pool, but there were no seats for us, so we switched and went to the Japanese restaurant, and we were told we could not come in because one of our party was wearing smart shorts not trousers. The shorts matched his buttoned up shirt, he had smart shoes on, and we explained we had not planned to come to the restaurant. The hostess made him go and change, and then we go inside to see men without collared shirts, in scruffy t shirts, and women in netted dresses with huge holes where you could see through to their underwear / bikini underneath (not even meeting the definition of a cover up let alone a dress) and some people in flip flops. If dress codes are going to be so strictly enforced, this should apply to all guests and common sense also needs to be exercised.
4. We understand September is low season and so were surprised than on 3 occasions we had to wait for a table at the restaurants. Two of those times it was over 30 minutes. It didn’t seem to make a difference which restaurant, most of them see to have wait times. If there is no buffet restaurant to be able to go to as a backup, I think it is imperative that the resort ensures there are plenty of tables for everyone at the restaurants. With the time difference we often couldn’t enjoy dinner as we were exhausted by the time we got to eat.
Overall, would recommend the resort, it is clear a big effort is made to deliver a premium experience.

Myself and my partner stayed at Secrets for 11 nights from 26th October and from the moment we arrived we could not have asked for better service . The check in was so welcoming with a glass of fizz and a clean towel to freshen up which was much appreciated after travelling for almost 20 hours . Our room was beautiful and we had a fabulous view from the balcony . Nerys has to be mentioned as she kept our room immaculate and it really felt like we were being looked after . The beach is stunning , powdery white sand , which was kept immaculate and free from any seaweed by the hotel maintenance staff . We booked a beach Bali bed for one of the days we we there and had a wonderful experience , a bottle of Moet , a relaxing massage and excellent service all day from Mitzy , our beach waiter for the day . We had fantastic service from all the beach staff , the beach concierges Luis and Mauricio were so friendly and helpful, and fabulous spicy margarita's served by Arturo at the beach bar . We tried all the restaurants and were happy with all of them , the wait time was minimal for them , if you couldn't be seated straight away you were given a buzzer , had a quick drink in the lobby and were soon " buzzed " to say your table was ready . All the staff in the restaurants were fantastic , Pablo in the French restaurant was a particular favourite but we really could not fault any of the restaurant staff . The one restaurant that needs to be booked is the Teppanyaki table in the Asian restaurant . We would highly recommend booking that , it was a fabulous experience. The lobby bar was great for drinks in the evening , a special mention to Jessica who always greeted us with a big smile and looked after us so well . Guillermo was our personal concierge, it was great to have that personal touch and Guillermo was so professional yet very friendly and made sure we were happy and if we had any problems was there to solve them ( not that we had any !!) . All in all we cannot recommend Secrets Maroma Beach enough and I wish we could mention every staff member as they were all amazing . It really was a home from home and we cannot wait to return.

I do agree about being okay to schedule excursions once you actually get there! They’ll help with transport and such too at the concierge desks. My husband and I went in early-mid November and didn’t have much of an issue with mosquitoes, but I did come home with a couple of small bites towards the end. Bring some repellent with you just to be safe…..then you definitely won’t need it! ;)
Also, the husband and I had the same question about tips—and ended up not exchanging anything for pesos. Our experience with anyone we tipped was that it wasn’t an issue! We would recommend having more bills in smaller amounts though ($1s and $5s), and save bigger bills for the times where you feel someone REALLY went above and beyond when it comes to service. This Secrets location does that a lot overall—so you might find it hard to determine how you’re splitting up that gratuity budget for your trip! Have a wonderful time!

You should bring lots of $1 to tip the guy who brings you a drink. We also left a tip of around $5 when we ate in the restaurants. Lastly, if you have a butler/concierge, you will tip them from $50 - $150 depending on how long you are there and how much he/she did for you. So maybe $300 to be on the safe side. Keep in mind if you do any excursions, that is more tipping.
There are more places to choose from in the Playa Maroma area.
