I've been to many of the AMC and other New England huts systems to fat bike, hike, and x-country ski over the past several years. By far, Gorman Chairback provides the best overall experience from start to finish! Despite the warm conditions, the croo did...More
Our 3-day stay at Gorman Chairback was a great pleasure. Brent and his staff were hospitable and helpful, everything worked without a hitch - luggage transportation, cabin setup, trail grooming, lodge amenities, meals. Speaking of meals, Abigail is a great chef: gourmet-level breakfasts and dinners,...More
Brent and his crew were amazing.
Top notch service. Super hospitable the sauna rocked, perfect after a day of skiing. Can't wait to go back for the hunting. Good was incredible. Much more than I expected.
Two friends and I just finished a lodge-to-lodge cross country ski trip in the AMC 100 Mile Wilderness. Gorman Chairback Lodge was a definite highlight. Brent and the rest of the staff were great hosts, the food was delicious, and the accommodations simple but comfortable....More
This was my first time to an AMC hut, and Gorman more than exceeded my expectations! When we arrived, the service was great, they greeted us like old friends.
The lodge itself was built in 2012, so very new and clean. It had plenty of...More
I can't say 100% but the black flies are typically late June/early July. I don't think you should have a problem in Sept. But might make sense to call the AMC hut and ask. I just did a hut to hut x country trip... More
I can't say 100% but the black flies are typically late June/early July. I don't think you should have a problem in Sept. But might make sense to call the AMC hut and ask. I just did a hut to hut x country trip with 20 women and it was incredble. We started at a parking lot, skiied into Little Lyford, then the next day skied to Gorman and then last day skiied out. In the summer, you can drive directly to Gorman which was the prettiest because its on a big lake. Lots of day hikes to do from there. We liked cabin 7 the best...at the end, beautiful views of lake. The hut transferred our luggage each day so we didn't have to carry. Call Gorman and ask them directly for suggestions. Awesome place!!!!
