Claudine and Dwayne are a perfect package deal!!!!!! We occupied the Eloise room for the night. It is located on the second floor in the front of the building. We overlooked the street. I am sure in the summer it is good people watching! This maybe a noisey room in the summer, but there are noise machines in the rooms!...

What a great Inn, Was there with a group and we each had a wonderful room with private bath. The breakfasts were great, the dinner was great. Dwain couldn't have made it any better. Easy walk to beach, or to shopping or restaurants. Even pretty easy to walk to the Ogunquit playhouse which is always a nightmare in the summer.

Just went up for the weekend- stayed Saturday . Was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful inn. Rooms nicely decorated, very comfy beds, cute bathrooms . Dwain the inn keeper was a gracious host- we were greeted warmly, given the tour and showed to our room. Roaring fire in the common room , comfy atmosphere. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely...

Dwain has created a lovely Inn and is such a wonderful person. The bedrooms are cozy and it is great that they all have their own bathroom. The common rooms are spacious. The location is perfect. The food was wonderful. Five of us rented the entire inn and we will definitely return.

This is our second time staying here and the second time was better than the first (which was hard to top since we loved it the first time). The rooms are beautiful, quaint and cozy. The living room with the fireplace in the winter with the snow outside is classic New England! But the breakfast is the best. Home cooked,...

We stayed here on our very first visit to Ogunquit, and what a delight! The Inn is beautiful, our host was gracious and the breakfast was delicious. Many things are closed in Ogunquit this time of year but with the guidance of the Innkeeper we were able to enjoy the views from a local mountain, meander down the coast, and...

We've stayed at this inn before and decided to return this year for Christmas. Dwain was out of town and James is no longer with the inn but Claudine now works with Dwain and she's an amazing host. Her brunch, whether pancakes, frittata, waffles, or other items, was always outstanding and we didn't need more than a snack before dinner....

The Black Boar Inn is the best of both worlds. The main inn has the old-fashioned New England B&B charm that you'd expect. Each room has an adjoining on-suite. They also have a modern room attached to the Inn with it's own private addition as well as an outlying house that has a 1-BR, 1 BA room downstairs and a...

My husband, daughter, and myself spent Thanksgiving week at the Black Boar. It was our first time to Maine...what a place to spend it. Hospitality was great. Dwain and Claudine are the best! Everything was clean and comfortable. There was always a fire going to warm up after a cold walk on the beach or in town. The breakfasts were...

The Black Boar Inn was the coziest and most original bed and breakfast I've stayed at. Everything from the location, fireplace, delicious breakfast (with mimosas!) and to die for coffee, exceeded my expectations for the relatively cheap price! Would recommend for couples stay or with a group of friends!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1674, with a major addition in 1720, The Black Boar Inn is the oldest structure in the Town of Ogunquit and one of the oldest wooden structures in the United States. BBI is located in the heart of the vibrant Village and only a three minute walk to one of the top rated beaches in America. The Inn offers six large bedrooms with queen beds and private en suite bathrooms with modern amenities. The Inn's common rooms (each with fireplace) offers guests with casual places to relax with family and friends. The Inn's history is truly remarkable. King James II of England (14 October 1633 - 16 September 1701) granted a plot of land in what is present day Ogunquit, Maine, to Alexandre Maxwell at some point in the mid-1600s. The Maxwell family built a home on this multi-acre plot in 1674 and lived there for about 100 years. In the mid-1700s, the home became the property of the Littlefield Family (another founding family of Wells/Ogunquit) through marriage to a Maxwell family member. Eddie Littlefield retained ownership until 1997. As the first two families cherished the property and remained ownership each for more than a century, The Black Boar Inn is now owned by only the third family in the structure's 341 year history. This Legacy Property is a truly authentic guest experience and remains a favorite choice of travellers from all parts of the world. ... more   less
