Always a great time coming back to Orono and my stat at UMI was fine. It would have been excellent except the AC wasn't working properly the first night I was there and after "fixing" it it was better the 2nd night but it still...More
We chose to stay at the University Inn due to it's proximity to the University of Maine campus and the short drive to Husson University in Bangor. Our stay was pleasant. The room was comfortable and we had a lovely view of the river. Our...More

We really enjoyed our stay. It's a very nice place and very quiet place. I would recommend this to family and friends and I plan on staying again on my next visit back. We sat on the wharf and got some nice sunset pics.

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
